What was Scorpions purpose in MK3?
I forget, wasn't he just a neutral character, and now he's become the Chosen One of the Elder Gods? In MKA I hope they'll go a little more into his backstory before his life, maybe he can cut a deal to be with his family in Heaven again

Scorpion's original story was that when he was accidently released from the Netherrealm, he went around wandering Earth as a "wild card" Shao Kahn offered him the chance to join his army. Scorpion nearly accepted, but upon finding out Sub-Zero was a chosen warrior, he took Earth's side.
The best part of Scorpion's whole story which was stupidly retconned.

Scorpion had NO role, nor any importance whatsoever in MkU/T. His mere presence was just a waste of space, a really boring addition to try to please fans, but failed miserably.
Really, just look at his bio:
************When Shao Kahn makes a failed attempt at stealing the souls which occupy Earth's hell, Scorpion is able to escape from the nether region. Free to roam the Earth once more, Scorpion holds allegiance with no one. He's a wild card in Earth's struggle against the Outworld.**************
That’s it! His ending sounds much more interesting but its still as dull and useless are his bio:
**************Scorpion is inadvertently released from his damnation in hell when Kahn's plan to overtake that realm goes away. Free to roam earth, Scorpion is enlisted by the Emperor to aid him and his quest to destroy the chosen warriors. But his alliance to Shao Kahn falters when he discovers one of the chosen warriors to be Sub-Zero. Scorpion was vowed to protect the former ninja as restitution for killing his brother. Shao Kahn finds himself the victim of his own scheme as Scorpion is forced to turn against him. He destroys the Emperor and the earth is returned to normal. Scorpion finds himself once again roaming the pits of hell only to one day rise again.**********************
In MKD however, he was chosen by the Elder gods to be their "champion" and help them defeat Onaga. I hope that info helped. He has been neutral since day one till MKD, where he actually served another force for the good of the realms (or the gods---).

Technically wasn't he non-neutral in MK4 because he was enlisted by Quan-Chi along with Reiko and Reptile? All of the villains from MK4 were from the Netherrealm except for Tanya. Scorpion was a general I think and Quan-Chi told him to kill Sub-Zero.

^No. Scorpion only joined because he was offered life... going after Sub-Zero was an ulterior motive of his.
scorpion wasn't in mk3. I believe that the original MK3 follows the storyline better than Umk3 an mkt where all these characters all of a sudden come back from the dead. Scorpion died in mk2 that's why he wasn't in MK3. I know it's kind of hard tomakesense of all this.

lol, Scorpion died before MK1 even happened.
Well, actualy that was Hanzo hasashi... hashasi... hash... browns... mmmmmm.... brb
edit:
what i was trying to say was scorpion did not die before mk1. It was Hanzo. Then, he BECAME scorpion after, then after he accomplished something he turned to dust and went back to the netherealm, I don't really know I read this as one of the endings online somewhere, probably here at mko. That is why he wasn't in mk3. (though he came in later versions such as umk 3 and mkT)

Your theory's wrong because in MKM: Sub-Zero, Sub refers to Scropion as Scorpion, not Hanzo Hasashi; therefore, Scoprion was already a well-established nickname for the ninja before he died.
Also, the only reason he wasn't in MK3 was because there wasn't enough time to put him, Reptile, Kitana, Jade, and Mileena in because Midway wanted the game to be released at around the same time as the MK movie, so the game was rushed and these characters were left out.
