What would you do to make this MK game better? Now discussing MK Trilogy
I am hearing people saying MK4 sucked balls (even though I loved it)
name some things you would do to make MK4 a better game.
I would:
-Make separate combos for each character, but at the same time keep the simple combo system (for newbies)
-put unlockable characters and stages in the game (make replay better)
-put gameplay elements from newer MK games in it (Krypt and maybe mini games)

I see a lot of people have said Unique Combos, so stick another check next to that suggestion.
Take out Maximum Damage and instead balance out the game. Better damage protection, better move disabling, maybe even make the hitboxes a little more sensible. The 2D MKs didn't have great hitboxes (1 coldbox per frame) but they worked, these don't.

I don't know much about this kinda thing from a technical standpoint, but there's GOT to be a way to get things to darken during the Fatalities. (The new games simply remove most of the background and replace it with black, but I suspect there could be another way to achieve this.)

MK1 could have used a bit more colors. That's about it. I do hate the gameplay, but I'll wait until MK2 to talk about how bad it is.

That would depend on what you mean by 'improved?' Do you mean using the same techology they had when it came out or remake the game with new techology?
If you want to keep the original look and feel, then just clean up the game a little and smooth it out. For the time it was a great game just it never seemed finished in my opinion.
If you plan to completely remake it with new techology, then I would recommend keeping the 2D. Use the CGI stuff for background and special effects only but use live actors again for the main characters. With current graphics capabilites they should be able to get more 'clips' so as to get smoother, cleaner motion. A few minor changes to the costumes couldn't hurt either. The Raiden, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Shang Tsung and even Kano costumes still look ok but give the ninjas their own outfits and something different for Sonya. Goro should be the only GCI made character.

I'd add extra animation frames to MK1 so it looks less "Jerky" and decrease the likelihood of finding Reptile, also would change his lifebar to SAY Reptile.
This galls me. We haven't had one decent translation of the game and already people want to change it.
MK1 should not be messed with, that is unless we finally get an arcade perfect version of the game on ANY console.
As for some kind of special edition. Pack it with extras.

If anything Jade needs to be enhanced to match everybody else. She's not a very powerful fighter.
The others though definately need to be toned down. I say get rid of the bosses all together. Trying to get them in there was a valid struggle, but in order to balance them they'd have to be pretty heavily limited and they would end up like Thanos in MvC2. It's sad to see that happen to a boss that used to be powerful.
Noob needs to lose the disabler. Its basically a break-the-game-gun. It has no startup, it very fast moving, and the effects of it are just too overboard. I think the Noob from UMK3 with no special moves but vey fast walking speed and Kano's combos was great. Maybe include a unique teleport, although not one that leaves quite as big an opening for comboing as the one he has in MKT.
Rain needs his roundhouse to be a special move, or make it cause damage protection and include a hit limit on its usage.
Characters should all do MK3 level damage. Cage, Baraka, Mk2 Jax, and MK2 Kung Lao all do MK2 level damage which is unnecessary.
Slow down some of MK2 Kung Lao's moves. His roundhouse and sweep get pretty crazy. On an unsuspecting person you can sweep into popup autocombo and that just shouldn't be happening. Combine that with the MK2 level damage and you end up with a character that can do a lot of damage to someone even if they block.
Kung Lao's spin should not move.
Baraka's spin should not move. And it would be still useful even if it did less than the insane damage it does now.
Fix characters hitting the ground to remove relaunch infinites.
Kabal's spin should activate damage protection. Perhaps even add some startup time.
This list could just keep going. And this is talking about greatest hits MKT for PSX. If discussing the N64 version, you're going to have to make a list twice as long :-/

LOL I know dude, I was the same way when I seen it, they should just add the torso rip and keep it instead though

For MKT i would change it so:
Cage could do BallBreaker.
MK1+MK2+Bosses would have fatalities,friendships,animalities,etc.
Less Infinites
Noob,Rain, toned down
