Where in Hell is the original Sub-Zero?
What pics are you people looking at to make you think he looks younger. He looks alot older then when he was in MK:DA.
In MK:DA he still had some black hair with some grey, now he is totally grey. He looks older, not younger.
But the thing that puzzles me is his eyes. They are pure white like Scorpions. So maybe it is the original Sub-Zero that came back from the dead. The scar at this point though can be either reason.
1. The scar isn't added yet just like MK4 and his eyes are just white since they maybe froze over the color part now that he is really old.
2. He is the original Sub-Zero which is why there is no scar on him and he could be back from the dead like Scorpion which explains his eyes.
I'm going to go with 1 though as of now before jumping to 2 since he is old.

The full story of Subby goes something like this: The original Sub Zero killed Scorpion, when he was still a mortal, in a fierce battle between rival clans in the plains of outworld (even though some accounts say both have origins on earth.) Upon entry to Hell, Scorpion was then presented with the option of dying and having his soul tormented for eternity or have the ability to exact revenge on his murderer and also get revenge on the one he thought killed his wife and child. Scorpion kills the original Sub Zero, who had been sent by the Lin Kuei to assasinate Shang Tsung, in Mortal Kombat, in the same tournament where Liu Kang wins the title of Grand Champion from Goro and Shang Tsung. In the next tournament Sub Zero's younger brother adopts the ninja costume and participates in Kombat. He returns to the Lin Kuei headquaters from Outworld with his ally Human Smoke to find the clan automating their ninja's and they attempt to flee. Sub Zero is successful whilst Smoke is not. So he returns to fight in MK3 having rejected the Lin Kuei (thus fighting unmasked and no longer wearing the Lin Kuei uniform) while also trying to escape capture from (Cyber) Smoke, Cyrax and Sektor. There is a Classic Sub Zero and an unmasked Sub Zero in MK Trilogy - the unmasked story is he has to avoid the automated ninja's after escaping the clan, the Classic story is he is once again on a mission to try to kill Shang Tsung. (The ending for Classic says he reveals his true identity to the shocked Earth warriors as he was a kombatant from a previous Mortal Kombat, one which will return in MK4!???) MK Mythologies follows the story of the original Sub Zero, before the first MK that Liu Kang wins. MK4, yet another brother in line for the Sub Zero's, he resurrects the old ninja costume of his long dead brothers and fights in their honour. By MKDA Sub Zero (the same one from MK4??) had won the title of Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei in a battle vs Sektor and reformed the clan into doing good deeds, whilst also taking on a new protege - Frost.
I'm pretty sure there was/is only 2 Sub-Zeros. One being Sifu the original one who died and then his younger brother who was in MK2,MK3/UMK3,MK4 and MK:DA. The red scar is pretty much proof that the Sub-Zero from MK3(which is the one from part 2) is the same one who is in MK4 and MK:DA.

Does MKDA Sub Zero have a scar on his face?

Yep, its blue.
Now, on topic: There are many planes of the Netherealm. Heck, there are many planes period. When Sub-Zero died, he could've been sent to any torturous plane. He didn't come back as a specter, because he didn't need to avenge anyone,so his demons just didn't let him come back. When Scorpion killed him in MK1, they were even. There was nothing avenge. So, he just miserably sits there, a poor old soul with nothing but negative thoughts and feelings going through his mind.
The story does unexpected flips, so we could expect to see the original Sub-Zero in the future.
