Quan Chi, he doesn't need the souls of other warriors to stay alive and he escaped the Netherrealm, he killed Scorpions family to use him, he deceived Raiden and Shinnok with the amulet.

Hell, I could go on and on why he's the best. tongue

I prefer Quan Chi. For some reason, Shang Tsung never seem smart enough to do all the things he's suppose to have done.

Quan Chi, definitely, although Shang Tsung is powerful in his own right. Y'see, Shang Tsung is a necromancer, meaning that his manipulation of souls runs much deeper than just absorbing them to keep him young. He can also use those souls to revive a dead person. From what I can tell, Quan Chi couldn't do that, despite his great power. Hence, he needed Shang Tsung to ressurrect the DK's army.

However, Shang's dependency on souls to keep him young and healthy, as well as his tendency to cower before powers greater than him (ie. Shao Khan), makes him far less savvy and smooth to avoid danger and stay alive on his own, unlike Quan Chi. Quan used to be a sorcerer in the Netherealm, which means his magic, integrity, and panche must be far superior to Shangs. He craftily manipulated Sub-Zero and Scorpion into doing his dirty work, killed off Scorpion's family and clan to ensure his loyal support, decieved Raiden and Shinnok with the fake Amulet, betrayed Shinnok to his enemies in order to take his place, decrypted the Rune Stone inside the Amulet, allowing him (nearly) free passage to any realm he wanted, and even got Shang Tsung to turn on his master and offered him limitless souls to consume in exchange for his help, with the intent of killing him off afterwards. Shang Tsung isn't nearly smart or savvy enough to do all that.

Oh, and LadyRaiden? Is it me, or has Kidd Thunder finally found Unca' Raiden? Your avatar pic, as well as the fifth pic in your sig, looks like a remade version of Raiden's DA alt costume. It looks similar, but seems different enough to be a new costume for him in Deception, much like Scorpion's new outfit looks similar to his DA main one, but with enough tweaking to know the difference.

I like Quan Chi better, because his moves are Unique to him, with the skull and stuff. Shang Tsung is more versitile, being that he can transform into anybody. In the end, Quan Chi gets my vote.

it depends on what you mean by better. Shang Tsung is better where Martial arts is concern. But Quan Chi is more powerful and experienced in the art of Magic. Even though his abilities are different from Shang's. Both sorcerers are equally cunning, deceitful and treacherous.

Kinda off-subject but...

Wouldn't it be cool if the earth warriors captured Shang Tsung and forced him to bring back Liu Kang? and then when Liu is back he say's, "Thanks Tsung!" then while the others are watching he beats the shit out of Shang and then snaps HIS neck. LOL

There is a possibility that Kenshi killed Shang Tsung, but we have to wait for MK:D.

But if Tsung is back and his morphs, I would prefer him over Quan Chi. I mean in Mk2 to MKT he had the games entire aresnal at his disposal, I mean thats badass.

Even with the morphs he's still a soul thief.

The reason why they took the morphs from him in the Next-Generation ports, is because of the cd loading. If the higher up next-gun consloes have a way better cd system they might bring it back.

Shang Tsung isn't Shang Tsung without his morphs.

Quan Chi is the better sorcerer.

He is the smarter and more powerful one. He was smart enough to form the deadly alliance, use shang tsung, then kill him.

And scorpion still hasnt killed him, which proves he is sneaky!

Shang is better off without the Morph in the games. They are just plain annoying.

When I play MKTrilogy on my n64 emulator, I face up against someone, I constantly morph into different characters to mix up my opponents game plan. It's quite fun actually. smile

shang tsung gets my vote

quan chi was the one who needed his heavies (the oni) just to avoid being destroyed, he bailed out of the netherealm & Tsung has a way better fatality

It's as simple as this. Shang is the better fighter, but Quan is the better sorcerer. They both have qualities the other wishes to aquire.

Shang's liability is his dependancy of souls. If he had legitimate knowledge of sorcery like Quan Chi does, he be more powerfull than Quan.

Quan Chi is a capable fighter, but not as experienced as Shang. He and Shang have an age old rivalry that goes back to the Conquest t.v. series. Quan's sorcery flows through him naturaly, but he needs more experience as a fighter to be on par with Shang.

And since his power is so great, It has to be pondered whether Shang can actually take Quan's soul. Since Quan is a true master of sorcery, he might be impervious to such abilities. Yet with all the knowlede he posseses, he wishes to learn the ability to steal souls. What would be interesting is if Quan were to learn this ability, his power would increase greatly, for he wouldn't be dependant on souls for his power, but he'd still be able to derive power from them nevertheless.

???? quan chi has more experience? shang tsung has been alive for about 500 years. ya i think he's gone through way more than quan chi. but quan chi is still a better villain though, like stated earlier, he's done some clever/evil stuff, and he bows to nobody.

Gone through more, yes! But Shangs sorcery is only as strong as long as he's depentant on souls. Without them, he's nothing. Plus, his abilities only go as far as simple attacks and ressurection/creation. Mileena for example. Well Quan Chi has that beat by a mile! His abilities are more varied!

k one is a necromancer, one is a spell caster, can't compare, end of story. we can't prove which is a better sorcerer. so i guess the question is who is the badder character? and the answer is quan chi.
