I remember that too, I can't remember why that happens. There is a certain condition that must be met, it's not difficult, it may be as simple as losing, letting the time run out, not continuing, and then starting again.

Sometimes when I refused to believe snes mkII didn't have a cheat menu ,I'd try button combos on the start/options menu ,then when I went to play it was in the forest .Dunno if it did actually did anything though

There are selection screen codes, 4X energy and strength, extended fatality time, fight certain characters, you can enable multiple codes, they are directions and select, like up down left right select, I can't remember them, look them up cause they are neat.

If you watch the demo and press start when it's telling the story you start off in the forest.

Ah yes, wasn't the story on the Living Forest stage?
I have the select screen codes ,as well as the "throwing disabled" in 2p ,the dead pool fatality ,how to get to Smoke,Jade and Noob, the non-select screen way ,and a complete movelist.I have researched stuff about the Mortal Kombat series since it first came out.I've seperated fact from fiction ,one thing that eluded me was the explaination of why you start in the forest sometimes.

Thankyou for your help and other thoughts
