I guess I just don't get it, because with the exception of her leg split, they're all basically the same damn thing. raptor 17, When you say her “kiss” lacks the “charm” of classic fatalities you are wrong. The reason why she has always kept that fatality is because its her trademark deathmove, a favorite. Just as good and classic as Sub-Zeros freeze or Scorpions toasty.
Sonya not having her kiss is like the current Scorpion, without his toasty. It dosent feel right, and it sucks.
I wouldn’t say being the Original makes her the BEST; but it surely makes her special like crazyagent said. That’s not a reason why she is (IMO) the best, just one of them, but not the main.
Also, you cant compare her to Tanya at all. Even though, I really love Tanya, specially now!

My point in the comparison was only to show that he was saying Sonya is the best simply because she is the original, and I was only trying to logically show why that point, opinion or not, has no merit. There was no real comparison done to make Tanya look like the best.

And for the sake of non-argueing, I guess I'll say fine, her kissing does have charm. But if were really as defining to her character as Scorpion's, Sub's, or other's move, then there wouldn't be multiple other girls using the (generally) same technique. Sonya in my opinion is the leader when it comes to female Kombat, she was never weak in each instalment and was always capable of dealing damage.
The looks I get when I catch opponents with a Leg grab is priceless, they just hate falling for that trap.
Mk2’s Milleena comes next she was a bitch in that game, but sadly she lost her game in Umk3 and Mk4G, hopefully that’s all fixed in Deception.
The rest of the women demanded too much time and effort to play almost as effectively as the other two.
Sonya is definitely a class act and has survived each instalment of MK from termination and resurrection.

When I played Mortal Kombat for the first time. I tried every character out. I had got a list of their moves and fatalities. After finishing off with Sub-Zero and realising he was a cool character, I said I'll just quickly try Sonya. I didn't think much of Sonya at the time. I played a few rounds. I became hooked! Sonya's moves were incredible compared to the other characters. Throwing Ice is cool but grabbing you're opponent between you're ankles and slamming them on the ground, in my own opinion, is much cooler! When I played Mortal Kombat II I was dissapointed with her being kidnapped and thought to myself: Typical.
Mortal Kombat 3 came and my interest in Sonya was growing higher Her moves had grown stronger and so had her storyline. She even looked better than ever.
Mortal Kombat 4 came and that was were I found Sonya at her best. She was lethal to fight against and to fight with. She was the perfect character. A lot of strong moves, very quick, and can counter moves easily.
Mortal Kombat 5 was out and I was excited, although I loved Sonya's moves, I wasn't so happy with her apperance. She was a bit too muscley. I would have preferred her more femine look from MK4.
MortalKombat Deception: If what everyone is saying, I can't wait to rip the dragon king apart with Sonya's legs. Assuming Sonya has my favourite fatality back.

Sonya should return, she isn't the kind of character you get sick of, because she doesn't win every time. (hint hint at Liu kang) Sonya was a woman who got caught up in Mortal Kombat and has no choice but to fight for her realm. She may wish to be a normal person. She may wish, some other woman could have been one of the chosen ones, but she has a duty to Earth Realm. Plus she wears a slutty thong!!!! So why shouldn't she return!!!!!

Mileena has that sexy/mysterious look.
Sindel has a very, agile, stealth look and really looks interesting.
Sheeva looked awesome. She looks like a woman, yet she has a very masculine appearence.
They all kick-ass and all better be in either MKD or MK7

I fully agree! Sonya is definitely one of the most powerful characters from the story of Mk! A very important weapon for the good guys. She was incredible in MKDA, and just like you said, she gets better and better by each game.

I agree! I also cant wait to see Sonya return with her trademarks moves! Specially her Leg grab. That is one of the most powerful and loved special moves by all fans! In the first games, it hurted more then any normal uppercut, and the uppercut was usually the most powerful blow.
I agree, she gets better and better. Each game is a perfect prove of this. MKDA was definitely her best game. But I disagree, I think she looks amazing! This was her best look IMO.

True. Sonya is the leader of females, she represents the Mk female characters around the world! She is the original bitch! Mileena is also one of the best females around, the best evil female IMO. Sonya hasn’t survived just by luck, she has managed to face evil and win, and this because of her power.

Mk is definitely not MK without Sonya. Im sure there are still chances and she might return. But either way Im haooy, I hope she does, but if she doesn’t, she will definitely return in Mk7, better then ever! She is definitely the most original of all the females, special in every way.

Wow..I see there are a lot of people here who love Sonya, some who don't care either way, and others who seem to really hate her. I guess it's all in opinion, no one has to like a character if they don't want to, and if they don't: No amount of words are gonna change that..they have to make that decision for themselves. I, myself, LOVE Sonya. She is easily my Favorite MK character of EVERY character in the game. Totally at the top of my list. Reasons:
I have loved all of her looks (well, maybe except for the first one..it was a little bland). She (besides Asharah now and Mileena and Kitana in MK2 ONLY! in this game they looked like typical female assassains.) Was really the only female that didn't look like a $2 whore. This fact cannot be disputed. She was always beautiful, but managed to do this while wearing clothes. Shine a light on THAT revealation!
Moves: The Leg Grab..this move has it all. Speed, Decent range, and Power (easily ONE of the most damaging moves in MK and personally I can't wait for it's return.) The Upward Bike kick: A very kickass anti-air move! Fast and decent damage. Her other moves were great too..but these two really stick out for me as her best.
Fatalities: Even though it didn't make an appearance till MK4, the Leg Scissors has got to be, hands down, her coolest fatality ever. And though she ALWAYS has a kiss fatality...I think it's very cool how it changes each time. As for my favorite kiss fatality of hers? Gotta be the Flame kiss of MK3, just cause it looks so much better than her original one.
Now..that being said, I LOVE Sonya, but I'm not gonna push her down other's throats. If people don't like her, that's their opinion and it should be respected. Besides just cause they don't like her now..doesn't mean that will always be the case. In future games, they my see something about her that peaks their curiousity and they will play as her and start to like her on their own. Bottom line though guys: It has to be their choice (nothing an UBER Sonya fan *such as myself * can say is gonna change that)..So Whenever someone says they don't like her: That doesn't give reason to jump all over them.

Im also dying for the return of her Leg Grab and Bicycle kicks. I thought it was an aweful mistake to get rid of her best moves in MKDA! That was the worst thing about her.
But I really loved the kiss, so I was a bit a happy.
I also hope to see her Ring Toss, Cartwheels and other moves. Her wave punch was also amazing.
Ashrah is not that innocent btw. Look under the dress. LOL.
And about her fatalities, I agree that the Leg grab is definitely one of her best! I really hope to see a new version of that fatality AND another amazing Kiss of Death.

Its highly possible to have 2 people with the same or very similar moves.
Ermac-Kenshi one example.
I don’t think the moves play a big role when it comes to deciding if the character will return or not, but to steal them like Kira did, that sucks.

I do argee that it sucks that Kira has most of Sonya's special moves, but hey Kobra has her Kali Sticks as his weapon. However, I wouldn't count Sonya out of anything just yet, maybe she's a secret character or maybe not. Just because her moves are not hers doesn't mean she not a factor to Mortal Kombat. She will come back, maybe in Deception or in the next installment and probably with the special moves she had that everyone loves so much including more that will make even more her kick butt than before. So I wouldn't worry as much, because every time a new MK comes out and it has Sonya in the line-up, I know she'll be even better.
