air combat cool or not

Not, why not spend your time on a counter system instead of an air fighting system.

Before I answer that, let me just get this off my back. I think if the term was called Air Kombos rather than Air Kombat, it would have fit the situation a lot better.
In the intro movie, the mid-air fight between Kung Lao and Baraka, THAT was Air Kombat. They were exchanging blows between each other while still in air.
The gameplay "Air Kombat" is similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 2, where you launch your apponent and contintinue the punishment in the air. The combos were one sided in favor of the person who launched their opponent first.
Back to the question at hand, while I don't agree with the term Air Kombat I stll think it's passable and does add another layer of strategy.

I hate air combat, its so fucking stupid. A lame attempt to make the fighting system improved or 'different' from the last.

i agree with sylverspyster, it would of been a lot better if it was actuly combat, and not just a contuation of combos.

I like it. It makes the characters feel slightly less bulky.

Yes like in the 2-D games where u can actually jump around. You cant do that in DA and MKD, u just feel heavy. I hope it feels like the 2D games in the next MK. It doesnt have to be air combat i just want that ability.Thats the number 1 thing i want.

I can do without aerial combos
If it was air combat, It would be closer to the dragon ball games.
Still I don't like the idea, not in MK.
For aerial combos though, I'd like for them to be more like in the 2D games and MK4, where you could cancel regular attacks in to special moves.
I'd have the aerial combos be more like in the Marvel VS capcom games, where you are moving through the air the whole time. I hate how in MKA the fighters stay frozen in mid air then fall.
The aerial combos should be no longer than 3 hits, or whatever you can land while flying through the air.
The combos should be able to go from
Flying attack, standing, juggle, air, ground.
Depending on what you do determines what combinations are possible and what the opponent can do to escape.

Yeah, air combat is not very cool. It looks hokey (even more DBZ-ish than Deception's intro...) and it's very limited. As Bleed said a more Vs.-ish or Rival Schools/Project Justice approach to the air combos would have been cooler.

I love air combat, if they don't include and expand upon it in the next game... what a waste.

I've only used Air Combat once by accident. I don't see the point to it.
Although, I've always enjoyed juggling my characters in the air.

Air Kombat is okay, but I find it unrealistic. This is MK, not the matrix. It would have been kool if, let's say you knocked someone off a building or any high up place, you could jump after them and pummel them before you land on your feet and they smack the pavement. This way your attacking them while your falling, rather than disobeying the law of gravity. Add in cool high-speed blur graphics and I think it would be a sweet idea.

Well all know is that some of the warriorss don't coordinate in the air as well as others, when it comes to air combat. Air combat was cool for Armageddon, because Mortal Kombat was in need of a serious change. I like it.
I love "air kombos" or "air kombat". I enjoyed that very much in MKA, it was honestly a must since the game really needed to feel new and different. Almost everything was recycled, MKA would had felt more horrible then it does without this new air "gameplay system".
I enjoyed it very much. I know it has its flaws, but that worked well in this game. Hopefully its back for Mk8, but a lot more improved.
Air kombat/kombos rocked!
