Some of the posts in this thread are absolutely oozing jealousy.

Just Help Out.

The cause is for the whole MK community, steal the info, post it on your sites, say what you want about MKO on there. You sites ARE NOT AS POPULAR bottom line. Who cares about PR and wording, just do it, and if you don't want to, zip it or complain to your loyal site goers.

Hmm,the only way this would work out is if old school MK players showed up.Good luck, anyway.

Konqrr, doing crap like 3, d,f+3, walk up and side step into free throw, 1,2,4,4,4 with Darrius results in ridiculous damage and will hurt the balance a lot of this game if there is a tournament.

If you guys need help at discussing what needs to be banned and what not,I'm ready to help out.

This is interesting and a surprise no doubt but let's face facts here. MK: Deception has pretty bad balance and if you try to fix that, the list of banned things will be longer than allowed things. I say ban the most obvious garbage like infinites and glitches and let the game be what it is. It's a great opportunity for the series and players alike.

Some of you need to cool down, seriously... this is what gives MK a bad name in the tournament scene. It's not the games alone, rather that combined with the mentality of the game's fanbase...

Anyhow, I hope enough people sign on, because this is a great chance for the series. All opinions aside, Mortal Kombat has never had a chance like this. My main hope is that this tournament will influence Midway to compete and better the fighting engine for MK7 and beyond.

I don't mean to be a downer but even if by some miracle Deception got into Evo nobody would really care. The game is just that bad. Once people see the infinites, the endless 50/50 game... It will be basically bad news for MK.

It's like entering a professional skateboard competition when the only trick you can do is an ollie.

It'd kickass to see MK at Evo but it just isn't where it needs to be right now. In the end I think it could only hurt MK's image.

That's very true, however... perhaps under the surface that's actually a good thing. As I said, if MK: Deception does make it there and is received poorly, perhaps it will act as a strong message to Midway to turn things around for the better next game out.

I'm with ~Crow~ on this one. Deception isn't guaranteed to be there unless 100 people sign up. The EVO organizers were known to hate both MK and DOA but it seems now they're letting the competitors decide, which is a good thing. Deadly Alliance was hosted at a few tournaments and if I remember correctly, there were only a handful of people competing. At least now, a minimum of 100 participants will be playing so it's not like if MK shows up it'll be in a corner getting no attention. One of three things will happen:

1) Everyone will love the game and MK will become a standard tourney fighter. (0.001% chance of happening)

2) People may have a good time but nothing will really come of it and it will all fade out of memory really fast.

3) Everyone competing will hate what they see and maybe Midway will pick up on that.

In a sense, no real bad can come of this. It may be like letting the winner of the special olympics compete in the real olympics, but even if MK isn't well received and everyone hates it, what's the worst that could happen?

m2dave, glitch combos are banned...so no 12444 after a throw with darrius. 3, df+3, walk up sidestep, throw...walk up 50/50 is fair game.

It may be horribly unbalanced, but that is the game that Midway gave us lol

i just want to say..

whoever thinks mk is comparable to virtua fighter, tekken, sf, or soul calibur will be overshadowed in shame when they travel all the way to vegas just to play a buggy ass game where everything is broken..

THROWS BANNED
INFINITES BANNED
ATTACKING YOUR OPPONENT... BANNED. (heh jk but seriously it feels like you're chained down)

all the other competitive gamers watching will be like.. omg.. look at that trashy ass unbalanced game whereas everyone else that is playing tekken, virtua fighter, sf, or sc will be laughing their asses off. If you guys didnt know, we (the competitive fighting gaming community) think lowly of guys that find mk:deception a deep tournament game.

"BUT BUT BUT IT HAS FATALITIES!!!!" who cares, they get old. fast. However, if you want mkd to be at evo2k5, i'm not stopping ya. Just beware of how shameful you'll look when playing mkd seriously infront of other real fighting games. and trust us, we gave mkd a chance, it was fun until everyone found unbalanced shit and just stop wanting to play the piece of garbage.

just my 2 cents.

oh btw: i know it sounds harsh but it's the truth and it's not directed at everyone, only people who are blinded by mkd's gimmicks and still believe it's a good game.

The rules we wrote up, which, by the way, we had to give EVO before their announcement, do no ban attacking somenone after a combo or knockdown or any of that stuff. They ban the infinites, and the actions that cause them. Yes, the game is broken, and even making rules for it doesn't change that. But you get ban the necessary aspects to stop infinites you give a better reason to play it, without worrying about it.

And since you have your own members on your site, US, Australian, ect., and you think this tournament is a good idea, why not do the MK community the one small favor of letting them know about this? EVO is the tournament that gets world wide attention (people from Japan, Korea, Europe, ect. go to this). There's no telling how many more people would be interested, or hell, even decide to go if they just knew about it.

I sure as Hell don't ask you for anything, but I'm putting my gripes aside for the better of the community. I will say it again. This is not about MKO, TMK, TRMK, whatever. This is about Mortal Kombat being a part of the biggest gaming tournament around, and it should get the support of all sites, and their members.

TotalMK, I'm going to put this as nicely as possible.

Get the fuck over this ridiculous rivalry, and update about this tournament because it's right. If Mortal Kombat is so glitched that you feel that it is an embarrasment for it to be in this tournament, understand unless you show your support for your community, Mortal Kombat will NEVER have the same respect in future installments as other fighting games. If you are so afraid of MK being at Evolution because the elite Tekken crowd will make fun of it, isn't that a sign that there's a serious problem here? Help get MK: Deception in Evolution, and if Mortal Kombat: Deception is as bad as everyone on this damn forum thinks it is, then Midway Games will finally hear from you guys and get the reality check that some of you think it so much deserves.

This is not about Mortal Kombat Online or its relationship with Midway Games. I'm doing this as an advocate for the Mortal Kombat Community, because I, which seem to be one of a few in the MK Community, see that this is a start, getting MK in a respectful tournament. If it's not, Midway will have no desire to make the game better. If you want changes to be made to YOUR fan favorite Mortal Kombat series, it won't happen unless a crowd as large as Evolution makes it known that there are issues.

So there you have it, don't update about Evolution and Mortal Kombat will remain the glitchy system that it is at times. But if you don't update about Evolution and at least try to help the MK series take its first big step, not only does that make you not a true MK fan, I never want to hear you (and this goes for everyone reading) bitch and complain about the problems with the fighting system. If you're not willing to take a stand and put MK up among the big boys, I'm telling the MK Community straight up. Stop your bitching.

I hope Midway reads this too. I'm not afraid what Midway thinks about my opinions on this. I'm not doing this for Midway. I'm doing this for the fans and because I am among the people that believe MK could be better, and it starts by putting itself up against the Evolution crowd.

And now a message to everyone:

As for which MK site is better, and all the complaints on that MKO was selected to promote this and not others, for goodness sake, get the hell over it. We were asked, we said yes. If you're not happy that we're promoting it and your MK site isn't, then do something about it. Lobby, update more, contribute more to the Community. Do something other than complain. I'm sick and tired of stupid rivals between MK fan sites. The Tekken and Street Fighter crowd have every reason to laugh at us. All the big Tekken sites and Street Fighter sites share links for crying out loud and are friends. Stop hating us and just enjoy what you do. I want to be in this together.

I'm asking Dave's Mortal Kombat, The Realm of Mortal Kombat, Total Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat Australia, MK Forces and all other known MK sites to drop the bias for one damn time, and realize I'm asking you to do this for the hope of better Mortal Kombat games in the future. Please do this for the right reason: Mortal Kombat, the game we claim we all love so much.

Total-MK, the press release was set out in a group of emails which I gathered back in October for a Fight Night press release that was mailed. I just copied and pasted about 60 emails into the BCC: field and hit sent. If you would like it, just paste what email you would like me to add to the PR mailing list and I will send the press release to you directly if you so please, and will make sure you get future mailings. If you don't want to believe what I just said, fine, but I do apoligize for not mailing in the Evolution email to you. You're one of the main sites that should have got it, considering you are out of the U.S.

even though im not an mk fan, what scott howell says is true

the fans must band toghether and ask midway for a better fighting system, do not have low expectations and criticize when needed so midway wont take away your money as easily by just adding gimmicks (mini-games? woo).

Looks more like your jealous of MKO if anything after reading that. Is it that hard to accept MKO is the better known MK site? Stop being selfish and just try and help MK. What possible cons to you see that would outweigh the pros in this situation?

-quick little edit-all the fans are excited about it and even other street fighter and tekken web sites I've seen agree(besides not liking MK) it would benefit MK.

It really isnt about who got it first, its about getting the communites together to hold a tournament and find out who is the best. That cannot be done through immaturity. He got it first! I didnt get my press release. Get over it.

You honestly don't think I dont know how broken the game is? It horrendously broken, and maybe if Midway had better QA teams, we wouldnt be here. But the fact of the matter is, Evolution is a world class event and people travel from 30 countries to find out who the best fighter is. If this community of Mortal Kombat players doesn't step up, there will be no tournament at all, and we will never find out. Midway hasn't held a national event that i can recall.

I really cant understand why two sites are at each others necks over a MK tournament. MK Deadly Alliance had blocking problems and there was one tournament that i recall in Texas. You can actually block in this one, and it does have some strategy with the 8 way walking.

This is a chance to let the game your dedicated sites thrive over, show off. If you cant put aside your differences to come together for a tournament, I dont see the reason to continue being a MK site. Just kill the site and move on.
