If he did get that deal done, he could still go back to his evil ways in which case he would have sued Raiden. I'm sure Raiden would have some sort of way of making sure he kept his side of the bargain. Or maybe Raiden would just kill him.

Or, as you said, he'd help in this battle. That doesn't mean he would have to help out another time. He could go back to his evil ways or stay good or neutral.

Yes he could turn back to evil. But the thing is. Shang was turned to evil by kahn through force. It was either become evil and serve kahn or die. Which would you choose? Many would have chosen tsungs path.

That alone has left a spot of light within him. A spot that Rayden can make overthrow the shadow within him and turn him back to good. Imagine it, Rayden and Shang Tsung aligned together. Nothing and I mean NOTHING could stop them. I don't believe the Elder Gods could either.

I don't think Shang Tsung should turn good. But MAYBE, as a surprising one off, have him forced to side with one of the heroes, to beat a far more dangerous enemy threatening everyone, including himself.

tgrant what i meant by being complete stupid is that I don't think shang will ever become good. I did however express the opinion that it would be nice to see him and maybe some other bad guys team up against a greater threat. Even then he will only being doing it for himself. He wont exactly be good.

Yanden, you got you story messed up. Shang tsung was an earth born servant of shao kahn. He was serving shao kahn before he entered the tournament. Even when he did, he was evil and used his power to steal the soul of his enemies. When he won it become twisted into the tournament that it is. Even if he lost he wouldn't have been brought to shao kahn because the tournament belonged to the shaolin temples and they wouldn't take the defeated to the outworld to see the very enemy they are trying to keep out. As for the caan and the sword story. That was taken from the comics. And although the comics are based on the games the stories that they have such as the sword are not official.

I understand. The bad guys teaming up? Not a bad idea. Maybe a very powerful source of good could arise to take them out and they have to fight together to stay alive. Or, maybe the DK will threaten both good and evil and all will have to fight together to survive.

You need to learn more about MK dude. And maybe even watch some MK Conquest episodes.

Shang fought for earth in Mortal Kombat and lost due to using his powers which was forbidden. He was then turned by shao kahn to his will.

Your the one who has your story messed up. Do some research then come back and reply.

Yanden the conquest tv series isn't official story gamewise. Its the same just like the movies. Its based on the game but has its own story. So you can't count on what happened in the tv series and say it applies to the games as well.
Neverrr.

I am not only talking about the Conquest series. The main game storyline and history of all the character Ed Boon and John Tobias made showed how Shang Tsung was like that. They wanted to incorporate that into MKC even though MKC had pretty much nothing to do with the games, it was known that, that basic episode of Shangs past was from the main storyline made and it was used to show everyone a more detailed look to the sorcerer through a movie perspective. Not a comic or a game perspective.

Wow! I knew that that aspect of the series was true. Shang was human and represented Earth but was taught the dark arts by Kahn. It should have been mentioned in the games imo. Although, it will most likely have been mentioned in the comics.

It's true...
Shang Tsung is from the outworld and not from Earth.

When you play MK2 the game. It says Shang was banished to earthrealm for something, I forgot what though. That's why people think he's from Earth.

Oh god, best thread ever. Just on the fact that the thread is solely based on Shang Tsung. No one ever makes threads on him. Thank you. As for the idea, I would really like it, but not likely just because the good guys aren't that stupid to trust Shang Tsung. Shang is my choice of character, fighting style and storyline, he's just a beast. Since most likely he won't be playable in MKD, I think the "good guy" idea would work if in the story of some characters, it mentions that Shang Tsung appears and gives little hints on the defeat of the Dragon King. Then of course, he turns on whoever he helps and obtains the soul of the Dragon King while he is weakened. Kind of like what my Sig suggests.
