Anyone for Shang Tsungs old old old look??

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I've never seen it here. I was wondering, would anyone be for the return of Shang Tsungs old MK1 look?

I liked the scary old man in rags look that he had going on. I actually liked it more than his MK2 look, and way more than his "Sub-Zero with yellow pants and a bad wig" look from MK3. I liked his MK:DA look, but I think that MK needs a shifty, sinister old man in it.

I think that it'd be rather easy to work into the story as well. The DK shows up, scattering the Deadly Alliance. Quan Chi regroups and finds other allies, while Shang Tsung, cut off from the soulnado (and perhaps trapped somewhere or in hiding) ages once more. I think it'd be cool to see that look in 3D.

What do you guys think? Yes to the sinister old man? Or no it's been done already?

Thoughts?

i have always wanted shang's mk1 look back. i was very disappointed with his look in mk2, it got even worse in mk3, and it was better but just ok in mk5. the floating, creepy old guy, similar to lo pan from big trouble in little china, would rule. however, for that to work he would have to lose his ability to steal souls.

I like his MK2 look the best. MK1 was really cool and "Lo-Pan"ish.

I didn't like his look in MK3 at all, totally gay looking...wtf is up with his chicken legs? And MKDA's look was too fancy.

I was going to make a similar topic today but since I saw this one I won't flood the board.


-Yes I would love for Shang to return with his old look again. Seeing as he is at a weaker state after deadly alliance took place.


in MK1 - Shang was very sinister and evil. I really thought he was a great end boss. His fireballs pissed me off, but that's what makes an end boss good right?


in MKII - definitely a kick ass look. No complaints there.

MKIII - I agree with konqr, he looked very... dumb. The yellow tight pants made him look like those guy ballerinas lol.

MKDA - well he looked badass in both costumes.

No i don't want his old look back. He wasn't scary at all. He looked weak. MKDA is prolly the best one that shows him with strength. He seems more threatening.

I liked his old look but I remember seeing him in a nasty looking "baraka like" form in Gamepro a long long time ago. Is that really his true form?? Or is it the old man ( lo pan) ish looking ?

Well I would like to see him return but not in MKD he's in need of a break from the games.

I think the demon concept in gamepro looked good but a little too much like baraka.Maybe the look could be redesigned and improved on. Maybe he will get revamped for MKD or another future MK game.

Shang coming back old would be cool! I prefer his new MKDA look though! I'd prefer him young rather than old. Although he could come back old if the soulnado is shut down by Quan.

to answer your question...i personally hated the old costume...didnt like MK3's either...I rather see something similar to MKDA if he comes back...

This talk about the 'soulnado' just sprung an idea...in some of the MKD pictures, there is a red bloodish tornado flowing around in the background...stage fatality or not, think maybe that represents Fujin's stage (torndao/wind...fujin), or possibly Shang's stage (souls/death...shang)...I obviously have common sense to doubt that every character would have his own stage, but you never know on certain stages...just curious...

To the person that asked, and I'll paraphrase here, "how on Earth could Shang Tsung be fighting in the game if he's an old man?"

Well, he was fighting in the first MK as the end boss, and besides, there are old people in every fighting game almost. Wang in Tekken, Shun Di in Virtua Fighter, etc etc. I like the idea of the sinister old man who looks harmless but can put a whoopin on your ass because he's evil.

I like the idea of Shang returning as his old, sinister self that he was back in the day. I hated how Shang looked in MK:DA (I liked his first costume that he wore) but he didnt look Asian like how he did in past games and I've always pictured Shang to be Asain. If Shang is in Deception then the MK Team could make his story like he lost all or most of his souls after the Deadly Alliance was beaten and thats why he's old again.

The best look he had was the look he had in the first MK movie...the beardless Shang tsung with a long black trench coat was kick ass. However I would have no problem if Tsung would become old again but not right now, but maybe in the late future

Well, that's the thing... He was old and looked weak. That's a good thing because some punk, or another intimidating warrior can start shit with him and even try to kick his ass, then the guy gets his ass handed to him by an old man who was what seemed to be weak, old, and helpless. grin. So I wouldn't mind his MK1 look back. ^_^

Like i said in another thread, i would love it if shang returned looking how he did in part 1. The old man look is more eerie and intimidating.

I would like it as an alternate outfit, but not as the original. The reason he looked old and helpless in MK1 is because of the lack of good graphics. They could still make him look strong like in MKDA. Though, then people would complain that he looks like Heihachi too much(you know from the Tekken series).

I was just gonna mention Heihachi. There you go, he is 78 or more, and he still kicks ass like a second nature. Why could'nt shang do that? For Shangs look, if he is returning in Deception, I would really like him to look the way he did in the movie, when he was portrayed by Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa. or his real, demonic form.

Yeah I'd have to agree about it being an alt costume. Good call on that one. Still, I do think it'd be kinda cool if they took Shang Tsung's storyline back in that direction. I just thought that he was more evil when he was the old man than when he was the young guy. Maybe it's because he was the man in MK1, but he was subservient in MK2 and 3. He had more of an aura of badness in the first, so perhaps that's why I like his old man look more.

I think it'd be cool to bring his old look back, and for that matter, several other characters classic looks. Not as their real costume, but as an alternate costume, a 3rd or a 4th costume I mean. Or a bonus in other words.

there should be 4 alt. costumes one new look,mk1,mk2,and Deception look that would be cool I wonder if they will have 4 alt. costumes like they did in mk4.

i would like his old look but just as a cotume i think his cotume in mk:da was good they should live it like that

i would like to see shang tsung becck in mk:d.and if they do bring back his old costume i hope is better and imroved
