MK is MK. It will always be MK. I look forward to any MK.

If Deception came out back when MK2 was hot, I woulda shit my pants standing.

It's because you made a good thread this time around. j/k dude, no hard feelings right?

I am so glad that I have company in the I Am Still Optimistic About Deception Group. It's funny. A day ago we were a member of a huge majority. Now we're a target. People flame us left and right for sticking up for Deception.

Bezou, I agree with practically everything you say. MK was never trying to be a great fighting game, it just wanted to be fun. And now that they are trying to add in some much needed gameplay depth, people like Wanderer ridicule it.

Deception will rock. Not to the people who want to look at the game and point out everything wrong with it, but us, the real fans. The people who would stand by MK no matter what. If they want to whine, let them, and we'll have the real fun.

In reality it's a small group of people that act like they are speaking for everyone. Just ignore them, they'll shut up eventually. I think that the Mortal Kombat series became great fighting games because they brought so much originality with story, characters, special and finishing moves to the table. This is what makes Mortal Kombat so great to play. It's damn fun. And I know I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

I've been playing Mortal Kombat since 1992 and I know something that a lot of people don't seem to grasp; the so-called deep MK gameplay that they're looking for a "return" to was never there in the first place. Mortal Kombat is probably one of the most mindlessly easy fighting games in the world. And it always has been.

You just hit the nail right in the head. Some of these people humor me on a daily basis, they whine and cry about Deadly Alliance, how it has no depth and the gameplay is garbage, and how Deception will be the same, and then talk like Mortal Kombat 1-4 were fighting game Godsends with unmatched depth and gameplay.

Hey you know what, you two are right. When you think about it, what really made MK II that great? What I believe made it so great was the dark atomoshpere and the overall shock value of the new characters and the aboundance of finishers. It definitly was not the gameplay, because if it was you would see arcade goers such as myself still playing that game trying to find new techniques to master like I do with Super Street fighter II turbo.

Street fighter in my opinion has timeless gameplay that is very deep and that statement holds true for every iteration of it. There was no rushdown in MK II there no useful pokes in MK II and there were no definite move properties. If anyone still plays any of the older MK's for anything other than novelty right now please enlighten me on the depth of those games. I'm 30 years old and I've been playing fighters religiously since 1987 so I have a good understanding of what depth means and those games had none.

MKDA was a step in the right direction as far as 3D fighters go. What it was missing was the move properties to make you really want to use a particular move for a given situation (ie wake up moves, and priority attacks). Special moves were really only effective as combo enders and with the exception of a few characters (Kenshi, Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Raiden). MKDA did have a high/low mix-up game but very few of the moves on the list were useful to me.

What they would need to do is assign the properties to quick basic moves verses slower ones such as the quick moves can stop the slower more powerful basic attacks within the first few frams of animation but once the move is past the point of no return the slower more powerful move wins out. An exception ofcourse would be made for special moves which would have a bit more priority over all of the basics.

After my talk with the developement staff at this years E3 and with Ed himself I can say that they are aware of what we want. It's just a matter of whether or not they will fit the majority of the gameplay requests that they have read about on this site..and yes they do read this site, I asked them. My guess is that they will pick and choose a few of the most talked about gameplay additions.

I still screw around with MKDA once in a while and I always seem to find alittle something new when I play. Kenshi for example is a great juggle character and there are new ways that I have found to implement his levitations to break the old 3 hit juggle rule. I still have faith that the team will provide a decent game smile. Take care guys.

I really HATED DA's engine by itself.. but by incorporating old things and moves, they have created a perfect blend...

Also.. the gameplay is waaay faster... In DA it took u like 1/2 an hr to reach the opponent...

I'm still looking forwad to it. I think it's going to rock. I still play MKDA and I know I'll be playing MKD a lot too. I liked the gameplay alot but it does have its faults. But I'm happy with MKD! It's looking to be the best MK game ever!

I am still looking forward to MKD. I had a gut feeling that MKD wouldnt fix up all the problems, but that's life. You don't always get what you want. There is always MK7. In the meantime, I will be waiting for MKD to come around.

what i really want is to throw those weird purple fireballs from the earlier games, mkda had only 1 problem imo, not enough specials, energy moves & too many combo's

I'm still looking forward to buy Deception smile

I liked DA's engine because it was extremely different from the prevous MKs... I think MKDA was the first fighting game wich every character had three fighting stances(please correct me if I'm wrong)

I just didn't like the fact that you could ONLY juggle 3 times... sad

Since I loved DA I'm gonna love Deception! I also will like it because for me, it feels like the characters are heavier and the attacks seem more massive than Tekken games! Tekken charatcers seem too light!
Is it just me???? confused

siduu, i am looking forward to it because it is mk and deception will be the best mk ever imo. BUT, some people are disappointed in the fact that the game has so much more potential...which was thought would be implemented in mk6. i still love mk and can't wait to play deception!

I always have been. Since I first heard of MK:DA I have been looking forward to future MK games. Deadly Alliance didn't change that. I can't wait for Deception. The fighting engine in MK:DA was good but was a little slow in places. The MK team has said that they have improved it and made it faster. It has so many extras. Whats not to look forward to ?
