easily MK Deception. to me, it was the most complete 3D MK in the series. it had great music, a decent boss, and more importantly it didn't seem rushed or pushed out the door. they really put their heart and soul into it. will mk9 take it's place in my heart? we'll have to wait and see.

MK:DA for sure it really brought my interest back to MK after the bitter taste that was MK4
Shaolin Monks was the most fun to me, but if we're not counting spin-offs then I'd say MK4 because it played fast, while MKDA, MKD and MKA all felt slow.
MK4 also had team battle, endurance, 2 vs 2 and tournament modes which the latter games lacked and it had nice FMV endings. The bios were short but sweet, accompanied by nice little character animations. It also had "choose your destiny" in the arcade which is classic. My only real problem with MK4 was Shinnok- selectable and no unique special moves. I hated Shinnok back then. Thank God they redeemed him in MKA. Now I like him.

Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.
MKA has the most awesome intro, though the game itself is a joke.

Mortal Kombat Gold, hands down.
Simply because it was fast paced like UMK3.
