I'm sick of people claiming Bo' Rai Cho is just corny crappy comic relief, and there is no sense behind him other then to be funny. In reality everything he does is quite brilliant. His whole technique lies in messin with the enemy's head. His gas problem and puking (while still pretty damn funny) would definitely screw with your head if YOU were fighting him. Also his whole drunkin fist like a lot of his moves is all about throwin enemies off. If someone new to MK was to first play him they would be expecting a slow but hard hitting character! In reality he is quick and deadly and HIGHLY trained since well he IS a trainer. Thus explains some of his funnier traits and why they actually make sense rather then made just for laughs. Bo' Rai Cho is a good character with a distinct personality unlike some MK chars, which I will not name in order to avoid problems cause hey lets face it, some people may have good reasons to back them up too! (Also for those who dont know too much about kung foo an stuff like it, the drunkin fist IS a real style, one of my friends even trained in it, and let me tell I got the SHAZ beatin out of me by it.)

Bo rai Cho is a disgrace to the mk series. How is mk suppose to be dark when you got a fighter farting and vomiting its gay as shit. I wish he wasnt in mkd what a wasted slot.

I've liked Bo Rai Cho since day one. He is a masterful trainer, and a skilled warrior. He is on the funny side yes, but in the hands of a skilled MK player he is almost unbeatable. Great points you made in your first post.
Welcome to MKO. Enjoy your stay, and PM me if you need any help.

brc is definately a lame charactor but he is not there for comic relief

While I don't like Bo Rai Cho too much, i don't think i would go as far as to say a disgrace to MK. The whole farting/vomitting thing could have been left out for moves more like his "belly bump". All in all, not at the top of my list for best character, but not at the bottom either. *cough* Fujin *cough*
On a side note I tip my hat to you, FatGuyWithaLittleStaff. Finally, a new person who doesn't come onto the boards and screams out 'HEY I HEARD THAT NOOB-SMOKE IS GOING TO BE THE FINAL SUB-BOSS ONCE YOU BEAT THE DRAGON KING IN DECEPTION!'. It's refreshing to get new people on the board with some new commentary on somethings.

Well he did sort of train Liu Kang when he was in outworld during the second tournament, so without Bo' Rai Cho, Liu Kang might have never defeated Shao Khan (even though the second tournament was a ruse).

Hey buddy why don't you calm down, some people like him... well actually LOTS of people like him, and theres just no need to be such an ass about it whats wrong with just saying you don't like him, rather then tearin him a new one. I got somethin to tell you. In a couple of previews for the game he was called the fan faverite, so he must be doin somethin right. heres a tip, THINK BEFORE YOU FLAME! MK has a whole bunch of jokes here and their in it, it's not all dark and moody!

Wow and may I just add besides the secound post which was just some guy blowin off steam, this is the damned nicest forum I've ever seen! All other forums on the internet should take a tip from you guys!

I'm not a fan of him, but there is worse characters... I think that the main strenght of Bo Rai Cho is the fact that he is a cool to use character.
In MKDA I didn't like him but I was often playing with him because he is a cool character

See, this is the problem. The MK team tries to add a little comic relief or a humourus element in MK and then ppl go "Oh he's not dark" or "oh I can't believe they did that" or " MK is supposed to be Gothic". Now I agree that MK is a dark and serious game but that doesn't mean that it should remain dark ALL the time. I remeber when Puzzle Kombat was announced there a whole bunch of threads saying "Puzzle Kombat sucks, it's not DARK enough" and why?
Just because Puzzle Kombat has little bubble-head characters ppl started crying and whining. Personally, I don't like BRC but I think he fits in well in MK because of history and his styles. So ppl should just deal with just a little SPECK of comic relief in MK, it's not gonna ruin the WHOLE game. Besides sometimes u can't things ur way and ur just gonna have to deal with it.

Totally agree. Great post and yes the Drunken style is real and badass. Bo Rai Cho is not my favorite but certainly is good character in my list.
I liked Bo Rai Cho except for the farting, burping, and vomiting. It just got annoying. They could easily remove the burps and farts, and replace his vomit with, say, pouring beer on the floor. Drunken Fist was one of the best styles in DA, and Sumo looks to be fairly good in Deception.

talking about characters who doesn't have a place in the MK world, Nitara is one of them... but Bo Rai Cho have his place as long as he stays a trainer

FatGuyWithALittleStaff, GREAT post. I agree 100% man.
I am tired of all of this whining about the burping, farting, and vomiting.
GET. OVER. IT.
You cannot always have things your way, and those things are not a big deal. Are they necessary? No. Do they ruin a game? Hell fucking no! It just kind of goes along with his 'drunken master' gimmick is all, and he is very important to the story IMO. I don't see what is wrong with having an overweight character. Master Bo'Rai Cho brings some variety to the MK universe, and truthfully, he is my favorite new character from Deadly Alliance.
If you learned his moves well, the nuances and strategy of using BRC, then he, imo, just might have been the most usefull character in DA to play with.
Also, as a Spanish-speaker, I LOVE his name. I am sure this has been pointed out a million times, but for those who don't know, Bo'Rai Cho is a play off of the Spanish adjective Barracho, which means 'drunken'.

It could go in either really, because he's in both, but i've just seen more negitive talk about him in this forum rather then the DA forum.

Actually it's "Borracho" and it means "a drunk". It's kinda funny that two names were taken from spanish in MKDA: Bo Rai Cho and Mavado.

the only characters worse than him were mokap and stryker

I used to take Shotokan Karate, and my Sensai said if you want to win a Fight, one of the best methods is Distraction. such as: Farting Puking, laughing, crying, dancing, all that stuff. it's used to confuse and distract the attacker. Bo Rai' Cho also seems to know this..

Good post by the author, well said.
Not to say I like Bo Rai Cho personally, because I don't.
However you put across your opinion constructively and like someone else said it's refreshing to welcome a new member who doesn't bore us all to tears with, "What background do you wanna see?" or "who is the 1st character you will use?" or "Noob Smoke sux (or is great)" threads.
I will give him a go. Heck, I will master them all if I can, so I can be comeptitive online using random select. At the end of the day though I probably won't complain if he sits MK7 out.

I see great potential for Bo Rai Cho, I had ideas for him, but unfortunatley they were not brought to life. I would play as him like i did in Deadly Alliance and then I probably would move on to another character.
I loved using drunken style for Bo Rai Cho, it was very fast and it felt different from all of the other characters in Deadly Alliance, I also thought Bo Rai Cho's style was not as tight as the the other ones, as I moved around pretty loosley.

despite what all of you say about bo rai cho, he is one of the most balanced and deadliest fighters in DA. Hopefully I will see some of you online who claim that he is "gay", "sucks", or whatever else you say. He is better than you all give him credit for.
