If so by who? I think if you Frost had a new look and more moves she could do it and I am sure her fans would agree.

No! Never mention Frost again! She was the worst idea next to Bo Rai Cho and Nitara.

Replacing Sub Zero and Scorpion is something that the series has needed for quite a while..
It's a long fought debate between MK Fans. I've seen many threads spanning all of the discussion boards on this website about this matter. It all boils down to your answer on a specific question:
Do you believe, among all the other fighters, that Sub Zero and Scorpion have gotten stale?
Queve has started many discussions about stale characters and always manages to mention the two ninjas. I seriously have to agree with him when he says that they should sit out for a game or two.. To be replaced entirely, I'm not sure.
It looks like Sub-Zero is getting a huge makeover (in both appearance and story) with Deception. Scorpion, on the other hand, seems to be the same yellow ninja of old. Regardless, they need to sit out or need to be taken back to the drawing board until they come out with refreshing qualities.
(Keep in mind, I have not played Deception and this could all very well be different. The chracters could be unique and the ninjas could have a new place in players' hearts.)
No matter, the MK Team looks to be pushing the new/upgraded characters. If this holds true, Ermac, Hotaru, etc could very well be at the top of the lineup for future games.. Replacing our ninajs, if only temporarily.

Agreed. I mean Sub-Zero is the only character to be in all 6 original MK's. That's way too much and that's even more than Scorpion's appearances.

Sure, any character can be replaced. Would the fans like it...that's another story.
Would fans accept Scorpion and Sub-Zero being replaced? Some would...many others, no chance.

Well, call me ignorant...
but if there is ever an mk without SZ...I dont care how good it is...Im not gonna get it. For this reason, something like no SZ or Scrp will never happen.
With the series looking and feeling so dramatically different today compared to its old days...the few returning characters are what keep it feeling like MK.

At least one of them should sit out next game and I think it should be Sub-Zero. He's been in all of them and I think he needs a break.

removing sub-zero from mortal kombat is the stupidest thing midway could do. I can understand scorpion, since hes the STALE one with no new outfit or story (he just wants revenge over and over again).
Atleast they are giving sub-zero a evolving storyline and a cool makeover. Scorpion doesnt get shit. He should sit out the next one.

I may be only speaking for myself here, but I would think that when a lot of gamers hear "Mortal Kombat", Sub-Zero or Scorpion come into mind. Scorpion's spear, along with the "Get Over Here!" shout, are a trademark of MK. Sub-Zero is popular with most gamers who have been around since the first MK. Admitted, his freezing abilites stand out in people's minds, but also his fatality in the first MK was brutal at the time, and is probably the most remembered from that game. Removing Sub-Zero or Scorpion may be good for the series, I agree. Heck, Liu Kang was the hero of every MK, and he was killed in DA. However, every franchise has it's trademark characters, regardless of how important to the story they are, and they will remain in the franchise with whatever update is available,(Ryu from Street Fighter comes to mind, can't think of an SF game w/o him).

I just think time is running out on these two characters especially Scorpion. The creative story well is running dry on him. Sub-Zero does keep evolvinh nicely however. I just want him to be removed for one game.

You're right. I personally think they're both getting stale, but Sub-Zero's alternate makes him look like a completely new character, which is a start. Scorpion however, like in MK3, should sit out for a game or two. That way, they can give the spear to Smoke or something. They should bring back his robotic costume and have Smoke shoot the spear out of his chest like he used to. Tell me that wouldn't be cool again, especially in 3D. Scorpion hasn't been changed much at all. I mean, I kinda liked his alternate in MK:DA but what have they really done in this game? Nothing much. They just put some little touches here and there. His moves may be cool and all, but they should get rid of the old ninja costume idea. His alternate is his old costume, which is a bit stupid to me. I'd prefer him to look like he did in MK:DA, but with a better costume. I love that flaming skull idea, that was cool. It needed more fire, but it was still good. All in all though, they've been in almost every MK game, and it's like, they're almost taking up space. It's true, Scorpion is always seeking revenge. He never really gets it and if he doesn't get it this time, he'll probably think "o well, there's always MK 7". Boon is being stupid by saying that every MK game that he's involved with will include both of them. It gets tiring, I mean, Frost looked so much cooler (in her alternate). Frost and Smoke can take the place of Scorpion and Sub-Zero, but if they really want them in the game so bad, why not make them sub-bosses or something? Or unlockables? Instead of starting out with them? I would rather start out with a bunch of new faces or characters that I haven't played with much, than the same old same old same old that I've played with for years. It's really nothing new.

Sub-Zero would never be replaced. he has the most developed storyline out of all the MK characters and he has been a fan favortie or maybe even THE fan favorite for a long time.
Scorpion on the other hand is getting really reptitive. His story hasn't really developed at all and he still enters the MK tournaments for basically the same reason every time. Revenge. His costume also needs to change a bit. It gets boring seeing him the same as he was before in every MK.

No! Scorpion should stay the way he is. If you don't like him play someone else. Scorpion will suck if they change him.

Maybe if they got new Shirai Ryu Members (see General Discussion forum, under MK7 Ideas, look for the exceedingly long post, for my ideas for bringing back Scorpion's dead wife AKA "Viper" & son AKA "Anakonda"), Scorpion might not be as stale. Maybe revamp some of his outfit, maybe for new armor (like keeping his rumored knight costume).
Sub-Zero could stand to sit out for one game. I foresee Subby dying & Smoke or Sektor taking over the Lin Kuei at the end of MK Deception.

everyone is being really stupid about this issue.
1.
Scorpion has been "changed" forever by his encounter with the elder gods. He also might be fighting on the side of good. How do you know he's stale, you havent seen his whole story ?
2.
People take the MK story line way too seriously. Ive said it countless times, MK is based on old cheap B movies like Big Trouble in little china.
These movies, and consequently mortal kombat, are based on flashy elements. Story line is there, and were lucky to have it, but its always been and always will be B movie storyline. Cmon, clones, nijas, robots, vampires magic all in the same game ? Its clearly B line.
Mortal KOmbat is about flashy things like quick combos, blood, cool costumes, cool stand alone story ideas, ftalities, death traps and cool art and music. Its meant to be light and FUN. When I play scorpion I don't think "wow scorpion is so stale", Im not so hardcore about it. I find it light and awesome to have one of my favourites back again and again. When I see scorpion I think
"haha he looks awesome as usual. I get to annoy my friends while doing his spear upper cut combo, again and again and again, thus earning me the right to get another round while they laugh and boo like sissy girls."
Its fun. I don't care if he's out for revenge or the champion of the Gods. he's cool, he;s a nija spectre, he breathes fire on his enemies to kill them, he has an awesome costume, a great spear move and I love the "Get over here!". Its cool stuff like that.
People are always trying to make Mortal Kombat into Good Quality Merlot, when really its good fair priced dark ale, that you can drink with your friends and regret the next morning.
These are the same people who spat at Escape from LA when it came out because it lost the seriousness of escape from new york. They couldnt just have fun and laugh at it, their world was crashing down because it wasn't as serious! Star wars fans, Star trek fans, every show, movie or game series has these people. If they would just roll with the punches and say "Hey thats cool" theyd be alot happier.
Mortal Kombat is and always will be a B movie genre game. Stero Types, bad rip-offs of martial arts movies, ridiculas fatalities and just good old fashion fun.
Listen to Dare to be stupid and then get the hell over it. Its just a game, and games are fun. If theyre not fun
......
Don't play.

Not exactly.
Various people could say the same about Raiden or Kano.. Or any of the other classic characters for that matter.
You're right, Mortal Kombat has always had a very ninja based roster.. But its time for the series to start branching out into other territories. Some ideas will stay, some will disappear shortly after their appearance.

And it could very well happen. That doesn't rule out the chance that the ninjas could be ruled out of a future game though.
Scorpion sat out once, he could disappear again.
Personally, I think it's time for a hiatus. At least temporarily, they need to let some other characters breathe...
