No I don't think they should be replaced because of stupid people who say "OH ILL NEVA BYE IT IF SCORPIANZZZ NOT IN" Which is really quite sad!
If it was up to me I'd definitely get rid of Scorpion, but I'd keep Sub-Zero.
Not because I especially like him, but he isn't boring and ALWAYS the same like Scorpion.

I wouldn't doubt if they take a backseat to newer characters. It's a long shot but that doesn't mean that it can't happen.

They are indespensable. They ARE mortal kombat. Why on Earth would Midway take them out for the sake of some new, and most likely forgetable, character? Forgive my cliche but 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Midway isn't about alienate their core fanbase by cutting their two most popular and nastalgic characters. Hell, if they even changed Scorpions voice when he yells "Get over here," it'd piss people off.

jus kidding. i seriuosly don't think sub and scorp should be removed from this game. i grew up with these characters and i loved them for 12 years.
a mortal kombat game without sub-zero and scorpion is a building without a base, it's like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without peanut butter or jelly. without these two characters mortal kombat just isn't mortal kombat.
like someone said before, this game has changed so much the only thing that you could clearly recognize from the old days are the returning characters. there is no way sub and scorp could be replaced.

And the lack of evolution in Scorp's story is the fault of the MK team.
He's not stale to me but for a character with his Trademark quality people should be bitching for the Mk team to get off their asses and develop scorps story. Not bitch about a fart fatality for a comic relief character.

Subby and Scorp need to take a rest for a game. Theyre having all the shine and taking it away from the players who could shine equally, like Rain, Nightwolf, Reiko, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, and Kai. Scorp sat out in one he can do it again, and personally i think SUBBY is getting STALE

They can't be replaced. That's like not having Ken or Ryu in a Street Fighter game. And, it just won't happen.

No they can't be replaced. Like Ken and Ryu in SF can't be. Sub and Scorp are icons of Mortal Kombat games. And even Boon said, that both characters will be in the all future games.

Scorpion wasn't in Mortal Kombat 3 but he was put back into Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

i have a strange feeling that half the people here saying "they are stale characters," are the same people that if in a year from now while in production ign or another site report there is going to be no scorpion in mk7 they would be the 1st one to make a topic "WTF NO SCORP GG MK RUIN MY LIFE I HATE ED BOON."
The more characters the better i say. why take anyone out when the support in the new consoles is there to have more and more characters...Mk trilogy was the shit cuz it captured up eveyrone from 1-3 and put them into a royal rumble. my hopes for mk7 are the same. go play mk1 right now and you`ll get bored in 10 minutes no matter how good 1 character is. same with mk da that game was a great stepping stone for the future of mk. But does anyone here still play? i know i dont. i went back and played it like a week ago with my friend. we played for like 20 minutes but after doing everyones 1 fatality ... it got boring no matter how good any of the characters are.
the cast of characters makes anygame i feel and the more the merrier for me.

I agree with the idea that Sub-Zero and Scorpion should have a rest for one game. See how things look without them around.
Sub-Zero can be easily replaced by Frost. I still don't get why people dislike her... just because they say she's a Sub-Zero clone. I think it's the perfect opportunity to have Sub-Zero removed for a game.
As for Scorpion... that's another story. I don't think he can be replaced. That doesn't mean, however, that they shouldn't try a Mortal Kombat without him. I think it really would be refreshing to have both Sub-Zero and Scorpion out of the next game.
And while we're on the subject of change... I think it would be really nice if the next Mortal Kombat would be centered on the Realm of Edenia. I don't think there has ever been a single Edenian Arena in a Mortal Kombat game so far. Edenia has a big part in the story, and it would be nice to see them handle their own problems once in a while without having warriors from Earth go and help them. So in the next game, maybe the only 'old' characters that should be returning would be the Edenians.(itana, Sindel, Jade, ... Rain, etc.) Now that would be a refreshing sequel... or maybe make it a prequel where we get to witness how Edenia was conquered by Outworld in the first place... just an idea.

I liked the idea about them being a sub-boss actually. It would be amusing - Everybody running around after the E3 Build, "OMG NO WHERES SUB/SCORP" and then finally at the end when they get it - ":O"

Without Sub Zero or Scorpion,MK will be nothing but fatalities and mini games. It's like taking homer out of the Simpsons show.

i can imagine eventually getting rid of maybe one of them. but not both. ed boon is too in love with scorpion and will probably keep him in the series. personally though, it wouldnt kill me to see Sub-zero go. its about time he retires. hes getting too old for all this tom-foolery and horseplay.

They need to take a rest, and when they come back be totaly revamped.

Damn, how'd you know? *grins* I want Frost back! She was the best thing that happened... I always love to play with female characters, and Sub-Zero was my favorite warrior in the old days. Frost is the perfect combination; all Sub-Zero's moves and 100% woman. Plus her costumes (both original and alternative) kick serious ass.
