No matter how well this game does, it shouldn't affect MK canon. I don't have anything against this game, as you can see from my avatar, but even I think making it canon would be a stupid move.

The Capcom Vs. games were well received as well, but Capcom didn't start to make the games part of the SF history.

Still, being a stupid move would not stop Boon from doing it.

He does have Special Forces, Mokap, Jax's Alt., no continuity in the stories, and MK Armageddon to his credit.

I was just kidding. Anyway, you shouldn't underestimate Batman. That guy is one of the top DCU martial artists. He doesn't need his belt to smack some Ninjas around.

I seriously doubt this game will be canon, it would mostly be a spin-off story. If it turns out to be canon I would be in shock, because to me that would not make any fucking since no matter how many ways you look at.

His time with the League of Shadows proves he can be just as badass as any MK ninja.

In all fairness, I think MK Special Forces was entirely Tobias' project. Boon had nothing to do with it.

Mokap was not really bad by concept; I just think it was bullshit that he occupied one of the two MKDA hidden character slots.

This game had better not be canon. I don't even want it regarded or referred to as MK8. It's scandalous to call it such, imo.
And finally... Mokap owns! That is all!

Making the story of this game canon would be an abomination, but like it's been said here before, I'm afraid it's not enough to stop Boon from doing it. His fuses aren't screwed on too tight anymore, and if oen more pops off, he just might do it.

I mean no matter how great he makes this storyline, as great as it can be, it'll still sound ridiculous in terms of the MK Universe and its storyline. Mortal Kombat is the kind of game that can't be mixed up with other games in a canon way, or all of its dark vibe and dangerous atmosphere would be replaced by flat-out goofiness.

Hopefully Boon does not make further mistakes and lets this game be just a spin-off, or even better, a starting ground (gameplay wise) for the real MK that'll hopefully follow it.

well going by that I guess that answers the question already lol
because like 80% of the MK fan base has been negative towards this game so far, I mean there is even a petition to have this game not be released
so if Ed is smart (which I am really starting to question) then he will not include this in the MK canon

Oh it will be. Not that Superman is going to be brought up again but anything they like they will use in MK9. You can bet on that. Just like Shaolin Monks, they pick and choose bits and pieces. That's always how they do things. It'll be confusing and not make much sense but it won't stop them.

Because I would realy like to play as Scorpion VS Sub Zero with my older brother .We started that 13 years ago and now we must continue it ..

I wish this game success and just dont mark the end of the MK series as it is the only fighting game I play beside VF ..

If this game is a spin off then I must say the Ed Boon is as smart as ever .
