tgrant Wrote: That would work well, Bleed and I wouldn't mind seeing those aerial moves in. I'd also like to see a Spear counter where someone sidesteps and pulls on the Spear pulling Scorpion towards them! That would really screw him! It'd be funny if they did it on the aerial one and just slammed him down to the ground. |
Awesome Idea Tgrant. That would be sweet, ruthless and fun, instead of you getting to see your opponent abuse the spear move too much, you could show em how you could use that move.
This is the beginning of a new gameplay which could be added onto later mk's.
There should be specific character counters made only for specials that get abused. Like scorpion's spear move, for ex. above.
You could say like combo breakers, except Special Move Breakers.
But special move breakers also can't be abused as well. Maybe these breakers can only be used with specific characters or specific arenas, and the specific spot in that arena.

I don't like people calling me a something I'm not and I don't like being called a thief by someone with a fraction of the number of visits I have.
These were my own ideas and I've seen many present other ideas I've presented in the past recently. I'm sure this guy must be one of them!
scorpion15152004, I'd like to see exactly where I'm supposed to have stolen these ideas from.

Careful where you tread with tgrant. He's held pretty high here on the forums. Just some advice.
Some points here that I think need clarifying
1) These are brilliant ideas, and as someone else stated they should be allocated according to style. Shotokan has some rolls in it too, and believe it or not, Muay Thai has one as well.
2) tgrant owns you.
3) The only downside to this would be that it could be like the Matrix, in that people would be jumping here there and everywhere. I think in order to prevent this, these jumps can't have any attacks in them. (eg someone doing a wall jump throwing a kick in there, and then landing)
4) If in doubt, refer to rule #2
5) If still in doubt, come to me. Bajar will sort you out.

Thanks for the support Tomtaz and SmokeNc-017.
To your points, Bajar:
1) I agree totally! It'd be chaos if everyone had everyone of these abilities.
2) LOL!
3) That's a good point you made. Maybe just some of them could have attacks on the end.
4) ROFL!!
5) ROTFLMAO!!!!
Thanks man!

Another great thread tgrant! How do you do it ?

I was looking through this thread (As I do with all things gameplay wise
) and I noticed how similar some of these ideas where to the multiple ways of dodging projectiles in Devil May Cry, and I thought hmm this would work.
Dante's speed when it comes to diving, fliping and rolling (don't remember him doing cartwheels or wall jumps) is pretty fast, I'd love to see the speed of action from a 3D action adventure like DMC implemented into MK. It would diffinately make MK a better all-round 3D battle, as I've always has a problem with 3D fighters playing like a 2D fighter and with Deception allegedly (SP?) being faster, I think soon it would be possible to pull off.
Also with this new change in speed I'd like to see faster reaction times between firing projectiles, this would diffinately play more like real-life combat, rather than a simualation.
The best example of a flip I've seen so far would be Kenshi's DA throw, with a bit more work and better looking animation of the character, this would be a great way to use flips to distance yourself, off the opponent or off a wall.

Thanks alot -NIGHTWOLF-.
I've never actually played Devil May Cry. I've only seen it played in front of me but I never saw any of these moves performed by the person playing the game.
I agree that MKD would be better with DMCs speed! I like the idea of using the flip to distance yourself from the opponent by coming off their body. That would be really cool.
I also agree about the projectile recovery time. Although I thought it was fine on MKDA. Kung Laos hat throw recovered prety quickly. Nitaras Blood Spit was slow. Mokap and Blaze recovered more or less straight away. Even so, it could do with being a little faster.

erm if I remember correctly on DMC while holdin R1 instead of pressing square to shoot you press circle and whichever direction you want him to go in, backwards does a evasion flip very similiar to Frost's in DA.
Either left or right does a roll where he drops his shoulder and uses his weight to roll himself over, which I would love to see in MK as a form of projectile dodging, as well as the side-step because all fighters have side steps now.
Pressing forward does a dive into a forward roll, kinda like a slower version of reptile's offensive roll in DA.
So all they can be done in some forms but with a little tweaking they could be made universal.
Add these onto projectiles being able to be fired in a spread instead of straight forward and you've got quite a complex fighter without having to make the input of these moves complex like other fighters, so it keeps the MK style theme.

Those commands could be performed via the Special Move button that did the impales, throws and shoves etc. You could press a direction with it to trigger one of these moves.
Prejectiles as a spread? Do you mean one going straight forward and several more in other directions?

That's right, multiple projectiles if need be, so they can't be side stepped so cheaply, the side-step should be used for hand to hand kombat only, with weapons being a case of timing, you either time it right so you block their attack or you get slashed

Sounds good to me! I like the idea of weapon blocking being about timing. It reminds me of Soul Calibur 2's guard impact and parry abilities though.
Shang had a projectile sidestep counter in the form of the 3d Fire moves! Those were great!
I think that would be one of the coolest ideas I've heard. They already have cartwheels I belive.
they could do wall jumps easily if they have run, so while you are running into a wall the person will flip or press the joystick twice in a direction. Like down twice-Roll down, left or right twice at a wall-wall jump, up twice-roll up, up right or up left- flip. left twice- dive backward (for someone swinging long weapon) , right twice- dive forward, cartwheel could be block two or 3 times.

No probs tg.
The only way this could work at all was if they were not easy to perform. The way I see it, if they were easy to perform, then it would be too easy to do an impale move, and keep jumping around the arena like a jack russell on heat until their opponent died.
If it was instituted with a power-meter as stated previously in regards to power-ups it would be a lot better. This could also be avoided if the impale suggestions I stated earlier were implemented.

I think these idea are great. It is interesting to see MK evolve so much.
I think that MK has been holding back what it truly could have become. A Multiplayer RPG. All of the elements were there to become a fulfledge adventure game with a huge storyline once MK3 started to fad out in the arcades.
MK was and will always be a fighter game. I am sure of that.
But imagine this. A vast world where you, a totally Kustomizable Kharacter, find missions and fight your way through the adventure (as a single player game). You'd also be able to take your character and do the same but in more diverse and rich environment banding with others to solve missions.
Here is the kicker. Depending on what choices you make in your missions or what missions you take, your character would become good or evil and fight opposites. Sounds a little star warsish and there is a game, Fable, that is coming out on that premise. But MK has the background and characters to really fulfill it's destiny.
I have always believed that Ed Boon could have take MK farther

Bajar - A power bar would be cool. It'd help stop peeps from abusing these techniques.
And I have to agree with you Wedgegold! MK could become great given the many ideas that could be implemented into it. Hopefully we'll see it all someday.
