Cartwheels, Dives, Flips, Rolls and Wall Jumps

I was thinking that these four things could be implemented into gameplay to help escape and prevent characters and players from getting stuck in a corner or against a wall. They would also help with movement around the arena and evading attacks.
Cartwheels: Can be used after a shove to move out of the opponents path if backed into a corner or against a wall. Can also lead into the wall jumps.
Dive: At close range you can use it to avoid projectiles and maybe leap up and get a sneak attack on the enemy from the side. Can also use to dive out of a corner and evade high attacks.
Rolls: A normal roll forward, backwards, or sideways. Can use to quickly avoid attacks and escape potential trapping.
Flips: Like the flips on MKDA, but given to all characters. Maybe flips over the opponents heads could be put in too.
Wall jumps: Jump of walls to the move to the side of the opponent and maybe even turning and running up them and flipping off to escape corners or potential trapping. Also, if rushing the opponent you could leap of a wall behind them and attack them from behind and then use a roll to escape.
Your thoughts?

All fantastic ideas. I especially like the wall jumping idea. Although with whole multi-tier thing maybe there won't that many walls? However I'm sure not every stage will be like that so forget what I just wrote LOL. Seriously though it would be cool to be able to turn around and run up a wall and then back flip off of it to escape a corner beating. Also I really like the cartwheel idea. Tgrant I gotta hand it to you, you come up with some pretty good threads man.

The wall jumping idea I came up with after thinking of the move I gave to my Ryoko character. In game it would be really handy for escaping corner beatings as you said.
The multi tier thing might hinder this a little but wherever it can be used it would be very handy.

Once again great ideas tgrant. Your thread should be awarded dp's quite often.
Cartwheels would be interesting, so would wall jumps, making flips a more useful thing in mk:dcptn would be interesting to see also. I think that dives and rolls would be too harsh, and make avoiding projectiles too easy.
I love the idea of how the flips could interchange and get involved by managing to grab the opponent and use it to get to the other side.

These are great ideas. I like the dive and rolling idea best. I haven't been here taht long, but Tom was telling me I should read some of your threads. The person above me is right you should recieve some dragon poins. If all of your thread are this good, I can see why Tom respects you so much. Good job.

Thanks man. Im glad you liked the ideas. The flips and rolls probably would make avoiding projectiles easier which is something I wouldn't want. The flips being more useful is the idea behind improving them. I didn't really think much of them in MKDA.

totally agree, my favorite idea are the rolls, I think that every ninja should have a front roll and a backward roll. Ninjas are famous for those rolls.
Particularly someone like Scorpion who should have ninjistu as a fighting style as well.

I agree that the ninjas should have the rolls. They're probably more fitting to them. They would benefit from them a lot as would the rest of the characters.
I like those ideas, but no cartwheels. Cartwheels are... not cool. The heavier characters may do cartwheels (or maybe not at all) but agile, fast characters should do aerials (which is a cartwheel without putting your hands on the ground, EVER) coz that move rocks.

that sounds awesome, another thing i thought would be cool, reverse projectiles. Like u can catch Mileenas sais and throw em back at her or summtin. Or say if Sindel shoots her fireball u could shoot whatever fireball ur char uses and when they collide they explode, like how they do in the DBZ games.

I made a thread before about explosions when two projectiles collide. It also had other battle enhancement ideas. I may repost it.
I like the idea of throwing Mileenas sais back at her. That would be pretty cool.

It would be awesome to be able to catch a thrown weapon and throw it back at it's owner. They would have to make this kind of difficult to do though because then what would be the point of throwing the weapons in the first place? Like maybe they could make the timing requirement be exact timing only otherwise you miss and get impaled. I have said before that Mileena's impale should not be the same as Li Mei's, so Mileena throwing the Sai to impale would also be cool.

I think if Mileena throws her sais, and they stick in maybe she go go up to the person and u hit maybe the slam button and she pulls em out and then u get the sai stance back, so u could keep throwing em after

Good idea! That is mentioned in my other thread (Arena damage, Weapon Kombat and Evasion) but I used Kitanas fans as an example.

Like I said over at mkstory, certain styles should have some of these moves. Styles such as Ninjitsu and Hapkido should have rolls, breakfalls, and flips. Eagle Claw has flips, Aikido has rolls, etc.

Definitely. Not everyone should have all of these moves as it would be a little ridiculous to see someone like Bo Rai Cho flipping off a wall. They should be distributed by Stlye. So that they are style specific moves. However all of them should be implimented! Just don't let every fighter have all of them.

Exactly. Having every character having them all would be pretty boring. IMO, the chicks would be better off with cartwheels, and the ninjas could use the rolls. Certain types of characters could have there own unique way of dodging, diving, and such.
BTW Tgrant, i love the idea of jumping off walls, very original, and would make the game alot better and more realistic in the fighting point. I would also like it if you could do back flips off the wall.

I love the ideas of roles and wall bounces. Cartweels could look gay on some characters, so maybe the females with skirts could have them. This does give me another idea, and I'm gonna be cheap and create a thread for it.

I really like those ideas Tgrant. In fact, I like all of your ideas on MK. You defenately add alot to the forum, and it doesn't go unappriciated. Hopefully Boon and/or company see your shit and take it to heart.

I'm not sure if there was anything in the MKDA krypt on this. It's been awhile since I've looked at the stuff in there.
I agree that you shouldn't just be helpless because you've been slammed into a wall. Any fighter would attempt to escape and counter the opponents next attack. Thanks for responding to this and using the stickied thread I made. And I appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Think it would be cool to see some more avoidance moves. Finally then there is something to get back at those nasty fighters who just corner you in a way. Would be a smash in te face to those 'cheaters'-tactics

Man I would love to do this on that stage that collapses.
Let's say the other guy im fighting is beating my ass and is backing me up to the ledge. So when the edge of the stage starts to crack I could roll out of the way then kick the dude off the edge off the level into those spikes. OH SHIT that would be sick!
