The easiest way to explain this is by giving examples:-
NITARA - Her winning opponent can puncture a hole in the ceiling or throw open doors or something to expose the sun so it can burn Nitara to dust.
SEKTOR - His winning opponent can have him flung into some kind of gigantic magnet where he can be seen desperately trying to get off but then being crushed (or dropped from great height or into lava or something).
RAIDEN - His winning opponent can have him tossed into liquid where he is electrocuted by his own charge.
This could be additional to regular and stage fatalities and an option popular for players who like using one character but get sick of their same old fatalities all the time. They can use this one as an alternative which is different or "Character Specific" for each character.
Also depending on the stage layout the particular fatality could look different or even be unavailable altogether. Example this couldn't be used on Raiden if there is no water in that stage where as on others there might be the ocean or on another altogether some other type of still liquid, making each look different, if available at all.

Good ol' Vamps have so many possibilities. It'd be good even if the winner just ripped out a cross and planted it on the Vamp's forehead and watch them writhe in agony and die.
It'd be awesome to be able to yank Scorpion's harpoon out and strangle him with it or something.

I like this idea alot!
Instead of tying the FATALITY to the winning player, it's tied to the loser... brilliant!
Perhaps something along the lines of the examples you gave are what they have in mind with regards to the HARI KARI moves... instead of the FATALITIES.

I like your concept on having maybe an opponent specific move, but I didn't like some of your examples. Stuff like sextor and magnets and all that.. let's keep it simple to an extent, I know it was only an example, but I picture these cheesy looking magnents comming from no where.
But I do like the idea of having an opponent specific fatality.

Sub Zero - his powers would go into hyper drive if you threw him into water too, much like the T1000 in terminator II with the liquid nitrogen, sub can come out of water and break apart as he walked starting with his ankles then knees and so forth.
Scorpion - You can summon HELL DEMONS to come and take him away back into hells realm.

This is honestly the BEST idea I have heard for a mortal kombat game. I would bring some much more to the fatality concept.

Yea and fatalities that coincide with the story.. Kabal would have a different "3rd" fatality he could perform on Mavado.. etc.. to portray how the events took place.
But it's all about what the MK Team wants to sit down and animate. So far we got 72 new finishing moves coming our way. Im pretty satisfied.

Thanx for the encouraging words guys. I am sure the devs read feedback in here so you just never know. No doubt others in here have thought about similar things. We are all fans that just want the best possible product afterall.

Sindel- Screaming her head off and the opponents ears wiil explode and eyes will pop out! Stryker- Use a gas bomb and throw at the opponent and it explodes a little and gas comes out and opponent starts coughing up lot and lots of blood! That will make him cooler!

The point is Character Specific Fatalities would relate to fatalities ANY character can perform on the particular loser. This is an alternative to regular fatalities and with different characters following different paths it will be possible to see a wider range of fatalities this way, instead of the 2,maybe 3 only that your favourite character can normally perform. Things we know about the beaten character can be used against them.
Better SEKTOR examples : -
You can tear open his chest plate, reef out a missile, reverse it, extend it, shove it back through his chest so that the tip penetrates his back, flick a switch on it and watch it ignite and fly him into the opposite wall and see him explode.
OR
tear his arm off, the one with his flamethrower and use it on him

twist his head off and toss it into whatever the background of that particular stage is, then watch his body take some steps grabbing at where his head was before falling and collapsing with sparks flying out from the neck ara.

Damn!! Those are some sweeet ideas. I really like the character specific ideas. Even for scorp a fatal could be using subzero to freeze him or sumthin like. Wow i never thought of these ideas.

no, the fatality for scorpion should be, the character begins praying to the heavens, and angels surround scorpion, tearing his soul apart, causing him extreme agony, and a bright light coming from the top of the screen, and is body burstign into flames and is eventualy swallowed by the heavens... yeah ^_^;

Blaze (hope he doesnt make it in deception tho):
You pull out a bucket of water out of nowhere and throw it on him and put him out, revealing nothing but a skeleton.
Kabal:Rip his mask off, then pull out a mirror showing his face to himself, then he explodes or sumthin.
Sindel: Take a razor blade out and shave her hair off, then show her a mirrow to show her what u did. Then she'll scream and cry so loud because her hairs gone shell kill herself.

Scorpion: Scorpion tries to throw his spear at the Winner, BUT! the Winner then grabs it (or Keeping it at bay with telekenesis for Ermac and Kenshi) then they Throw it back at scorpions head! but Scorpion starts freaking out and ends up breaking his neck due to the tightness of the rope.

hmm.. great idea.. but i don't think they can put all that into just 1 game with 24 chars... with 2 fatalitys.. unless you want them to goto back to just 1 for specific chars.. then leave boon alone..

Why would it be out of the realm of possibility for these moves to be how the Hari Kari moves are handled?
Most of the examples given would be just as cool as "Suicides" as they would be for Fatalities.
The more I think about this thread, the more I think that that is one of the main reasons to have Hari Kari moves in the game in the first place (Online play being the top reason).
After all, it will essentially be a Fatality that's unique to a single person WITHOUT the necessity of having another character involved at all.
They might just go dementedly, yet beautifully overboard on this feature in the game, not unlike many of the suggestions in this very thread.

I understand what you're saying and completely agree. It's much easier to do it that way and who knows, the Hari Kari's might be all different just that they are a losing fatality and not for the winner.
I have a for ideas for some Hari Karis.
Sub-Zero - He could make his body temp. drop and then he would start freezing from head to toe. All that is left is an ice statue of Subby. It could also crumble or just be left standing.
Kabal - He rips of his mask.life support gear and then starts to choke while coughing up blood since he is so sickly. They could also make his eyes start buldging out from no air and then bleeding.
Sektor - Could have a self destruct like Cyrax. Or he shoots a heat seeking missle and then re-directs it back at himself to be blown up.
Scorpion - Could slice his own throat with his harpoon. Or he could summon demons from hell to take him down and kill him. Or he could slice himself open and then power up his flames which will engulf his body, sorta like in MK the movie.
Baraka - He could just shove his blade right into his face through his head. Or he could slice his stomach open and his guts and what not fall out and then he drops over.
Ermac - He could twist/slam/rip apart his own body in any way he wanted. Or he could start letting all the souls out and you just seeing them flying away as he gets weaker. All that is left is a shriveled Ermac on the ground when it's over.
Smoke(if he is Smoke) - He could just explode himself and all you see are his cloths on the floor. Or he could pull out a fan and blow himself away, j/k.
Thats just some I thought up of quick.
