Deception ARRIVES on OCT. 5th for ME, anyone else?

I just went into my local Gamestop, finished putting the rest of my money down on the Premium Pack Edition for my PS2. The release date information on the "very accurate" dry erase board says Deception is slated for a Oct. 5th release.
When i asked, they said it SHIPS on the 4th, arrives on the 5th. I haven't preordered a game, nor have a bought a brand new title in well over 2 years now. Is this information accurate?
I just assumed Oct. 4th, meant i would play it on Oct. 4th

Im not sure for me...but it is odd for a game to release on a monday, so it would make sense to release it on a tuesday, oct. 5th.

To anyone who cares, I'm not banned. I left of my own accord. This place is dead to me now.

Yup yup. I was just at my local Gamestop today and they said the 5th. Bah, what's one more day?

I have pre orderd MK: Deception at EBgames. I am sure that they will get it on the 5th. Most of the time when a game comes out that I have pre ordered, I check to see if they get it in the same day that the games ships. Mostly Ebgames get the game 1 day after ship date, but in rare cases EBgames get a game on the day of ship date. This upsets me because I know that under a week left to go I know I am going to read here how some people somehow get the game super early. I don't even know why I even pre ordered the game-_-. Hell Wal-Mart get stuff from the back storage rooms and place them on sell like at 2:00am in the morning.

On that note, has anyone seen the Target coupons for $10 off that read, "In Stores Oct. 6"
There was a thread about it on this board somewhere.
I think its just a store by store basis of how lazy they are or aren't. If the higher ups at Gamestop feel they need an extra day, then they all have one. Target feels they need two. Stores often have items on release date, but because of the time it takes to pricetag/shelve them, they don't necissarily sell them on that date.
I used to have a friend who worked at gamestop, and he was always telling me about how they'd get the games a day or two before they were allowed to sell them, so I doubt ship date and release date would have anything to do with each other. And since Gamestop is one of those stores that demos new games, and since they allow employees to rent the games out overnight, he'd often bring games home a day or two before they came out, which supported this theory.
So, though your local stores say that their release date is sometime after the 4th, If you haven't yet preordered, I'd advise you to look elsewhere on the 4th. Toys 'R' Us is usually pretty reliable for me. Often they'll freshly open up a case to start selling to people the 1st day.
If you have pre-ordered, I'd advise you to at the very least stop in and ask Gamestop on the 4th. I can't say it will get you anywhere, but I will tell you this: There is a 99% chance that they do in fact have MKD in stock in the back, despite what they tell you, and who knows, you may get lucky.
PS. Crap like this is why I personally never buy new at gamestop or ebgames. Large chains are far more reliable in these situations then Small Specialty stores. Small stores play by their own rules. Large stores play by the public's rules. When you say Mortal Kombat at Wal-Mart, 99 of 100 clerks may not know what the hell you're talking about, but they are there to please you, and they can always radio one who does, and you'll eventually get your game. At a small store, all 5 clerks will know what your talking about, but they may not be able to sell it to you yet, in which case they'll lie and tell you they don't have it to get you to go away. (And I worked at Kay Bee, A small specialty toy store. I know 1st hand that this is true. I have lied to many in my day.)

I have to know what day to take off from work.. Is it gonna be the 4th or the 5th? I thought it was OFFICIALLY gonna be out on the 4th. Ed Boon said it himself in the Gamers Day video that it would be avaliable the 4th.

I couldnt tell you what day it arrives. If you read the post above yours, Gillbob316 makes a very good point that the game may very well be stocked the day pryor to the 4th, or on the 4th itself. To play it on the safe side, take off the 5th is my advice. Because if it does come out on the 4th, it will most likely be in the afternoon.
The woman at Gamestop said they get 2 shipments a day from UPS, FEDEX. I doubt the morning one will have it if the ship date is the 4th.
Be safe and go with the 5th.
If it were me, I would take off the 5th. Either way, you will have the game and a whole day to play with it.
As for when it comes in, the small stores by me usually get them in a MONTH LATE. They route im taking, it's either that or squat.

yeah I went down to Toys-R-Us to preorder my copy and they said Oct 1st but I don't really believe them so I'll probably call in on the 1st to check if they have it in.

the 1st?!?!?! That makes me wish i never pre-ordered it. Now that i think about it, WHY did i pre-order it? I guess i just wanted to be sure to get it. Some stores try the scare tactic, like "oh, you better pre-order, we can't guarentee other wise".
Look at the Special Edition of Halo 2. The packaging is silver, and it opens up to the game being inside (menaing the silver is just an outer shell for the game cover...I think).

Deception should be like this

I pre-ordered the PP and will get it on the 5th of October also but for $10 less. They told me that they will have Deception on the 1st of October but the PP/KE will arrive on the 5th.

I went to the gamestop where I preordered my copy recently. I talked to the guy at the front counter and he had said that they ship on the 4th and are in stock on the 5th. He also mentioned that probably the earliest they would get it is near the evening on Oct. 4th when they get their last delivery of the night (which I hope happens). I already took off from work on the 4th and the 5th so I'm not too worried. I also asked him about the strategy guide and he said it should come in either the 28th, 29th, or 30th (which I don't mind getting on the 30th as long as I get it before Oct. 2 when I leave for the weekend).

wow, going to extremes here now are we? Yeah, let us know man. Cool
In the meantime, if you dont mind, post your sent out letter here as well. They might expect a 4th release in certain stores, but later or earlier for others. Also take into consideration East and West Coast

I think it depends on where you are and what store. I'm getting the Premium Pack from Gamestop too, but I will be getting mine anywhere from the 1st to the 3rd. =\ I seriously believe that your Gamestop will have it on the 4th. Just keep your fingers crossed.

I was wondering about this myself a couple of days ago. I think all the gaming companies should get together and come up with a concrete system. Either the date given is the shipping date, or the date you will actually be able to play it.
Like, the X-men legends official site says the release is the 24th, yet every gaming store says 22nd or 23rd.
We need a better system for release dates I tell ye!

That's what I'm doing. I printed out the coupon and I'm going to go to Target on the 6th after school and buy the regular version for $40. I can't wait to play Deception!
Peace Out
