I like the idea of buying characters. Especially if you get one from each side as a combo sale. I'd buy;
DC
-Bane
-Scarecrow
-Doomsday
-Two-Face

MK
-Ermac
-Reptile
-Drahmin
-Mileena
-Quan Chi

I don't think I would, but I might. I'd have to see. I'd be quite happy just to face Kung Lao, say, in a battle.

There are plenty of MK and DC characters I'd love to be able to play as, but I'm just very reluctant to subscribe to a concept that gives developers license to trim the edges. MK's history of 'we ran out of time' finishes and finished games that fail to live up to par do not help that at all, and I think it's a little disappointing so many consumers are ready to fork out for this kind of stuff.

Otherwise, sure, you can track back through the various rounds in these articles to find a catalogue of characters I'd love to see in the game (and some not mentioned). I just don't think concessions and additional expenses are what the growth of the medium is about, and in a game with a twenty-odd roster of characters, additional expenses is exactly what downloadable characters and additional materials are.

To the thread starter, thanks for giving midway another idea for milking us dry:) I'm pretty sure we're all so thankful that you just HAD to bring this up. To answer your question which shouldn't have been brought up, NO, not unless there were 5 plus characters.

I wouldn't pay for most of the new characters introduced in Deception (Shujinko, Kobra, Dairou), but most of the other MK characters, I would totally pay for. Quan Chi, especially.

Hey, hey, man. Calm it down. I only raised a hypothetical issue here. Quit busting my balls over it. The possibility of DLC has neither been confirmed nor denied, and since this game is due out in the near future, it may not even happen.

I just wanted to "take the pulse" so-to-speak of the other MKO users to see where they stand on the issue. The vast majority that have posted have shown at least some interest in paying for characters, and that's all good to me. I think if the price is respectable enough, MK may get some business. For me, it's all going to come down to how much I get for my dollar.

Furthermore, if secret characters could be unlocked rather than bought, I'd go for that over purchasing DLC any day. I, however, see that prospect as being even more unlikely than DLC, so I simply raised discussion over a common hope I've seen floating around on the site: DLC. Like me or hate me for raising the question, it was going to happen eventually.

I will also go ahead and admit that Mick-Lucifer's argument over DLC and the idea that it might leave room for Midway and the MK team to slack off some is very convincing...I'm beginning to agree with his idea.

Since I don't see you agreeing with me over this issue, I'm going to stop it here. Jack Burton is done talking for now about this.

I completely understand your point, man; I'm in college now, and I'm barely making ends meet myself. I'm just simply asking to see where everyone else stands on the issue. If anything, I'd purchase Kung Lao if he was made available. He's probably the only one I'd buy at this point.

Yeah, sorry if I came off agressive. I just don't want to give midway any ideas ya know? But yeah, I won't pay if there are less than six extra characters.

Well, I hate this new video game business model of charging more for content everyone should have. If you paid $60 for the game, you should be entitled to get the downloads. Let the late adopters pay extra. That being said, I'm getting the game day 1, and I'd pay for any characters they put out. I hate that though. Cuz they HAVE to patch every online players game with all the new characters anyway, to be able to see the models online. So basically you'd then be paying just to unlock the characters that are already in the game (after the patch). But for MK, I'd HAVE to have all the characters. Either way, I can't buy any of them anyway, until PSN cards are available. There's SO much stuff I want on PSN but I can't use my credit cards for something like that. I NEED PSN cards NOW!!

I would pay for Jack Burton and Lo Pan. Maybe Egg, Mao Lin, and Wang. Oh and the 3 storms. And I'm not just trying to humor Mr. Burton, I'm dead serious. Like knife to head dead serious.

Unless you got lots of characters very cheaply then no. After paying £40 for a game, I have no intention of giving the makers even more money for stuff they've decided to make after. If there happy enough to make new stuff and enhance the game then great, but it should be free. Look at how much extra stuff Burnout Paradise is giving us for nothing!

I don't have a credit card anyway so I can't buy stuff :(

I can't say for sure, but I would most likely purchase them if they were available. It gives the a game a bit more diversity since the roster is fairly limited on both sides.
