Do you think the STAGE FATALITIES are too CHEAP?

No they arent cheap cuz its a strategy. Its a strategy cuz in the Meat Grinder Fatal, look at awhere the weapon is. This goes to show that the stage fatals arent just there for a cool azz ring out but more strategic moving around and how your gonna play the game to get that weapon and win.
I agree that winning in 1 round with a DT and then the player coming back again in the next round is really lame. At 1st I thought that Stage Fatals were exactly that but then they are Ring outs, Mk style. If you guys have played VF those have ring outs dont they? and when you win with a ring out, they come back rite? so really it depends on how you look at it. You can see that they are Ring outs, Mk Style or look at it like they are Fatals and should jus remain that.

U all r missing my point. I have no problem with Death Traps happening in the first round as long as the fight is over, but to watch a fighter die violently and then return fine for the next round is just down right corny. Im sure that it is hard to do, but thats not the point. Id hate to see a match ruined by the cheapness of u killing your opponent in a death trap and then having them return the next round.

I would love for there to be the traditional doing the movements to finish the opponent like MK2.
Theres an obvious reason why death traps are cooler though.. they add that edge on the gameplay of course.. the "live wire" feeling of death right there..
I think they should come up with ways to keep death traps concealed away for the first rounds of every match. That keeps a nostalgic (i love that word) feeling that we're just fighting it out, not worried about a death trap. Then comes round 2 and gates can open, things can start falling.. etc.

Only thing I have to said is the death trap is cool but should be allow in the 2 and 3 round. And with you position your foe is in to the trap regardless of health the fatality theme music should come on and the screen should darkern. And the word arcoss the screen instead death should appear.

I would like to have them activated in the final rounds, meaning the 2nd and 3rd - and only for the person who has the advantage. I don't like the idea of "coming back to life" after getting split into pieces.
1. i dont see how they're cheap? in theory they're just glorified ringouts, deal with it.
2. i also think the idea of booting a guy (or gal) into churning gears and then havign htem come back is a lil absurd, but whatever its a game. when logic starts to try and overcome fun gameplay theres a problem
3. i DO liek the idea of being able to only turn it on for secodn and third roudns. preferably the thrid roudn ebcause it makes sense of the whole "sudden death" idea

Not really, except it should be done in the second round instead of both. I mean think about it in a real fight its all about survival are you seriously going to give a F**k about ettiqute when some guys trying to tear you to shreds. It adds an ew element to the game and keeps a fighter on his toes and tuned in to his natural environment like a real fight, rather than being oblivius to it.

those aren't cheap. And btw, in real life, if you're in a fight, and you stumble on a rock thus falling on a sharp object that'll will kill you, then that was pure luck for the other one too. You just should've have kept an eye on your surroundings, it's part of fighting. Fighting is not only to win for the strongest, but also for the smart ones who know to use the environment.
Only thing I hate about the deathtrap is when you perform it in the 1st round, there will be a second round. That shouldn't be, if you're ( or your opponent ) is dead, then you/he should stay dead.

Oooook... interesting topic but let me take a swing at it anyway...
"Absurd" I suppose in a game such as Soul Calibur 2 where the opponent can ring out and fall hundreds of feet to the ground, but yet they some how make it back for round 2, would not be absurd? Hmmm that is interesting thinking we have here indeed. I guess all the difference is that in SC you don't actually see them hitting the ground or anything?
In either case we all have to remember a couple things here.
1)This is a game, it's meant to be fun. I for one think being able to make a comback on my friends by knocking them into a 8 ton meat grinder and being able to say "HA you got owned" will be quite fun whether it ends the match or the round.
2)Everyone cried about no stage fatalaties in MK:DA so now we have them. Boon decides to try something new and everyone is complaining already and the game is no where near release date. Calm down people. Either you like the idea or you don't. Either use them or learn to stay away from them (or turn them off if there is that option). So it adds some new strategy to the game and requires a little more skill, is that a bad thing? All this crying on these boards about MK having no depth... they try to add some depth and strategy and look what happens. Be grateful Boon actually really cares for the fans and listens to us. Don't go criticizing something you have not eevn personally tried yet please!

OK why are you all bitching you all wanted them in DA now there back and oh I don't like this get over it some of us do. I think there funny like in the fatality trailer where Milenna gets kicked off the tower and she screams then she hits the ground and parts go everywhere its great. Now the games more realistic you can do it during the match no more invisible wall which was dumb. Now I agree it should end the match not the round but o well think about it soon as the game started you knocked someone in a trap oh there dead how fun it took 2 secs. Sooner or Later the game would get boring like DA

Who cares about Soul Calibur 2 here.
Motral Kombat is something completely different. Plz, I respect ur opinion but don't mix up between things.
MK has always been known for its unique death/scary feeling and not just a childish fighting game.

I brung up SC because the few who complain about MK's design just love to bring up SC2 which they consider the god of all fighting games. Which I find funny because the button design is set up so a two year old can play it. But I digress from my point...
And from what I have seen in the trailers I have watched it looks like you may actually have to try to do these stage fatalities. Meaning it looks like you could easily beat your opponent before ever getting them into the position to perform one of these. Most of them seem to be done off of the lower tier of a stage so you would first have to get your opponent down there and then get them in the correct position to do this. And as long as you are playing with someone with an IQ over 5 they should be fighting back and moving the whole time. So it's not like the match can end in 5 seconds... That's just what I see though.

I played the demo at e3 more than I should have. Three days straight fighting and figuring out how to pull moves and do the death traps. The first day everyone was flying into the death traps left and right. On the third day it was hard as hell to put someone in. The easy stages were the cliff and the tower. You could nock people off with a blink of an eye. The other levels meat grinder and factory where you get squished. It was damn near imposible to get a good player near a death trap. They are not cheap and if you think they are TURN them off. You can make them like ring outs, turn them off, or set them for the last round. Bottom line are you still going to play the game? Yes. Even if the game had mary poppins in it most of you would still play. Don't knock it till you have played it. My favorite death trap was the Cliff that falls apart, you never wanted to get close to the edge, and if you and your enemy got too close both of you fell off when the outer ring gave way.
