For example, do you think the creators would listen to our advice on what we would like improved or implimented in the game? Which characters we would like included? What kind of fatalities we want? Better combat, more martial art styles and weapons, more story, better dialogue, FMVs, etc? Do you think we, the Fans, can help shape this game? Fatality.

Possibly, Boon stated that the MK Team listened to fans on what they wanted and what they didnt want but right now i think it might be too late in the developement stage for fans to have an influence on the course of Deception. I think somethings, not everything the fans can have an influence on. There still might be a chance that Boon & Company are listening to us and changing things in the game, ya never know.

Peace Out

I already sent an e-mail with the idea of a one-player versus mode (see sig) and a couple of other ideas. I'm pretty sure we influence the game, otherwise it wouldn't sell as well.

As far as I'm concerned, Boon has already listened to the 2 main things I want on my list for Deception.

1) Two Fatalities per Character
2) Stage Fatalities

I didn't care for either of those, so I'm still waiting.

How could you not care about the fact that not only did some of the fatalities really suck in Deadly Alliance but that theres was only ONE per character?

So far this game is perfect in my mind.

Oh yeah..I forgot to mention ONLINE play.

Thats sick.

yeah boon has listened 2 the fans and the majority have sed wot cold kombatant sed about fatalities INSTEAD of askin 4 better gameplay so i'm not exactly expecting huge differences in that aspect of the game not 2 mention all the time they must have spent with all the mini-games

*sigh* i wish they spent more time making it a better fighting game than a ps2 version of midway arcade treasures or i'll never think of the MK series in the same category or fighters such as Tekken, Soul Calibur and vitua fighter.

i'll agree that MK is completely different from these 3 BUT they all have their own sub-games and they still manage 2 have the best gameplay on ne fighters of all the next-gen consoles.

I care about gameplay and story, not little elements like an extra fatality or stage fatalities. DA had far from perfect gameplay.

Ermac is proof that the MK team is listening to fans. The fans created him through rumors and then Boon made him a real character in UMK3 and now MKD.

...No. Ermac was originally a glitch named "Error Macro." The glitch made Scorpion turn red. It was just a popular glitch, and in the MK2 board data, there's also mention of an "Ermac."

True, but Boon decided to bring him back in UMK3 because the fans wondered is he existed. So we did make a character out of him (not just a glitch).
I think they listen to what they want to listen too.

They have their idea of what they want, and if the fans agree with those ideas then that's what they do.

But if they don't care for, or like games like Tekken VF and SC then ideas to make the game more to that level will be ignored.

That's what it seems like to me.

If they do add something, it's only very little.

The Best thing they added to the game play now are the combo breakers IMO.

There is still so much that should be done.

Maybe for MK7, we'll see a good improvement in that department.

That's if they listen and take many of the ideas in to consideration.

It would take a long time for them to make the game like that, but I would gladly wait for it.

Garlador, to make things short. NO. What we did was make MK:D at our critique of MK:DA. If you looked at any interview with Ed Boon, he says that (not word for word though).

Of course, I think the "fans" did such a good job complaining about no stage fatalities n crap, thats all the devs spent their damn time on!

It's a shame Midway's strapped for cash, this game could use a lot more development time.

who sed nethin about making them like those 3? i no i didn't. another case of ppl not reading the posts fully

i sed they should improve the gameplay more so MK will b more comparable 2 those 3 becoz as it stands no matter wot boon + co does 2 the story + fatalities Tekken, Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter will always b in a league above MK, simple as that.

the only reason i like MK so much is becoz of its story, i'm not that interested in doing fatalities and the gameplay is crap.

note this is only my opinion, don't have a go @ me 4 it... even though it is right grin

Haven't we had this debate alot already? Fans have input initially, the creators obviously want to please people and learn from the previous game, but at this stage I think it is out of any fans hands and the game becomes the creators.
No money? They have been developing this game for along time, and the game is shaping up beautifully.
The point I would say is that even if they do listen to the fans, they cannot possibly make a game that will satisfy everyone, or they will not prostitute their ideas to please the minority. We are just going to have to wait and see I guess...

if the majority keeps askin 4 novelty items like fatalities MK will never reach it's potential.

this is were the line between doing wot the fans want and doing wot is right should b drawn.

I think the fans created characters like Ermac and Frost and I think fans killed characters like Stryker and Sheeva. Hopefully, Boon will wise up with Sub-Zero's age and the MK girl's super-gelatine boobs. Fatality.

I don't think the MK Team will make decisions that will affect millions of MK fans just because 40 or so want a change.

But I do believe they look at the boards every once in a while and get some ideassmile

I hope they look at JAX007's character concepts.
i don't think boon listens at all, or at least very little. when he makes changes of course there are ganna be a couple of morons who e-mailed him the changes they wanted, but just because he makes them doesn't mean he read them. just looking at this forum in general there are tons of good ideas for the game, however, year after year boon follows the same pattern of showing little effort. now don't get me wrong, Deception looks like the best MK ever, i'm just saying that everytime a new Mortal Kombat game comes out there are alwasy a bunch of parts that could of been a lot better. all games have some problems, but the MK's have had the same ones for years. sure when he made the first MK it was a big unexpected success, but that shit doesn't work anymore. Effort and variety are what make games better. tootles.

u'll wish they did when MK retires as a game that went rubbish becoz boon+co didn't take note of the most important part of a fighting game, the fighting.

The fans DO influence on the MK team.

I remember once that someone posted an idea about killing the opponent by kicking him/her into a wall of spkies while playing the round, which is similar to a death trap.

Also, I posted once a stage fatality idea where there is a part in it that I mentioned about a splashing effect and this is introduced in one of the MK:D's stage fatalities where the opponent is thrown from a high building then hits the ground with a splashing effect because of the water that came from the rain, which is very close to my idea.

Few weeks ago, I read the script of Ed Boon's interview and he was questioned if the characters' selection depends on the fans then he answered that it mostly does.

BUT, I don't know if the fans can still influence the course of MK:D after the demo (or few months before its release).
In my opinion, MK:D team should listen to the fans until the last possible date before its release.

The only thing we can influence is the characters and fatalities, otherwise thats about it.

we really influenced the return of Ermac and Kabal
and way better fatalities
