Of course I hav'nt played the game yet, so, I'm not trying to judge the game before it's release (it's really nothing to judge anyway), but, from what I've seen, and heard (from people who've pre-played it) it's exstreemly easy to defeat someone by ring out etc....Just by watching the videos, to me, it's already become repetitive to see someone fall off of a cliff onto a spike. There is absolutely no shock value to the game (to me)I know it's probably too late now, but, I really feel that they should have made that cliff twice the size it is. There are so many mmistakes like this that they've made with this game.
Of coarse, I am pleased with most aspects of the game. I'm just expessing what I feel, as a consumer. This is not to start a flame war. So, please agree or disagree in a civilized manner.
Thank you

if u dont like death traps, go to the options menu and turn them off...

hell ya, you could be winning and then all of a sudden a death trap, i think matches wont last long on this game, its a cheap way to win like impailing someone on mkda

I like the death traps, I just think that it should be a little more difficult (not impossible)to achieve. Just like I like the way you can fall to your death, on the Temple stage, but, I don't like the way the character explodes into pieces when they hit the ground (a little over the top). You see, I love all of the additions they've made. It's just the way the over the top way in which they execute them that I'm not happy with.

yeah, I do admit that they could be a bit more moderate in some details, but I think that this game is so amazing that we should congratulate them for the big outstanding things they've done with the game, instead of just dissing the game for little details (I'm not saying you're doing this)
imo, they should hire a fan to be with them while they're doing the game, and this guy should tell them how to improve those little things...

I agree

The thing with ring outs in other games is that it really is hard to ring out someone, even on the smaller stages. In MKD, we'll have to see, but the only stage I'm truly worried about death-trap wise is the small stage that keeps getting smaller.

Yea, this is the one that most worries me too. I think that this stage, at least, should have naturally been twice the size it is now. To me, it seems like it would be almost impossible not to get a ring out on this stage. That's why I fear that it will becaome exstreemly repititious, with something as dramatic and shocking as falling to your death on a spike. I think that it would even be better if you did'nt always fall onto a spike, but rather having to be at a certain point on the stage.

yeah unfortunately, i think they're gonna be a real cheap factor, unless you really know how and when to use your blocking skills, which i do..so hm maybe it wont be so bad, but it'll still be easy for cheap players to use them....one thing you can say about this game is it will test your skill more than da for sure, which i like anyway...cant wait for deception >=D

from what i have seen, it takes a bit more then a tap to knock someone in or off to the death trap. execpt the crumbling tower.
it will make you more aware of your surronding.
if you don't like it turn it off.

No; there is no such thing as "cheap", anyways. DT's are just glorified ring outs, that's all. If there is decent movement and they are implemented the way they should be, then all will be fine.

once u and ur freinds master the characters it will probably be much more difficult to recast each other in the death traps imo. if not turn them off for at least the final round.

I understand completely where you are coming from. Alot of people find the MK franchise to be a little far fetched.
Since the original MK (which was actually very brutal without being over-the-top) it seems like every MK game since has had some outlandish stuff happening in it. I personally don't mind the goofy exploding bodies, or the chunks of human flesh flying all over the place in ways you know would never happen. The only thing I want (which looks to be ok so far on Deception) is let's keep the over the top stuff a bit realistic.
What I mean is that it's ok to have someone sliced up into a million pieces, or blown to bits, but I don't want to see 17 arms, and 34 skulls when one person blows up (ala MK3/UMK3). Again, so far Deception looks to be ok in this dept. Oh, and one more thing. If I wanted popcorn...I'd go to the movies.
So after that said...I like the idea of the death traps, but we'll see how well they compliment a match before I decide to leave them on or off. Thanx for listening to my rant.

Death trap cheap? Only if you are the one knocked into them. And if you are then you did something wrong. It'll help a lot of people with evasive tactics. And I don't think that we'll be seeing a death trap every match, or every other match. They just want to show it off right now, but I bet it'll be more rare when you actually play.

you can do that? what about that one pit level where it falls around you and you can fall off twice and die each time, which is completely lame if you ask me. I like the idea of death traps, but why did they set it to have another round afterwards? thats really stupid. The idea of death traps have been floatin around since before mkda, im glad they listen to ideas and put stuff like that in the game, this game is everything i was hoping for in the last game and more, which is pretty cool.

Yes you can.

NO now that I think about it. It shows some none cheap shit from just hiding in a corner so you can't get huge combos. it makes you fight and not be some defensive little shit.

when people get use to the flow of battle, the deathtrap can be easily avoid. many players will be defensive and move away when the get close to an edge or have their back near a deathtrap
Death traps are a GREAT invention in my view. Because now even "newbies" have a chance at winning instead of getting 13-hit combo'd everytime. This way, it sets up everything as fair game, and gives it the name "Mortal Kombat" rightfully. Plus, if you die by a death trap, it was your fault and lack of awareness that got you killed. So you sohuldn't be mad at "Sephikill101" but at yourself for allowing it in the first place.
