I don't know if MK:D's going to have FMV sequences or not. I honestly doubt it. But, I can tell you that one of the things that MK4 of greater value, at least to me, were the movies at the end. And, I can tell you that when I saw that they did'nt include them in MK:DA, I was personally very disappointed. As unfinished as MK:DA seemed, I really think that FMV endings would have redeemed it (therefore, it may have been worth the 50 dollars it was originally priced for).
Now, please don't get me wrong. Of course MK is much more that just movies. However, because of how the videogaming industry has evolved, the movies do make a difference. And, I believe that when executed right, they greatly add to the experience and the value of the game, because not only are you playing a game, but, it's like your watching a movie, and interacting with it. I pesonally really wish that they would bring them back, because, to me, they do make a difference.
What do you think?

Agreed. Also, when you have FMV's for 24 characters, it takes up too much space and we wouldn't get those other extras that are in there.

I honestly don't give a shit how the endings are, so long as they're there.

I rather have no endings and have them spend their time where it counts. FMVs are a waste of time and effort that they could be spending on something more important, like gameplay and bugfixes etc. You watch em once and your done...they are so not worth the effort and time.
Every modern 3d fighter has to have a mix of funny and dramatic and elaborate fmv endings
by keeping the endings to deception old school like Mk2,not only does it bring nostalgia back, but it keeps things different among the other 3d fighting games out there right now.
the fmv's for mk always looked too goofy and awkward anyway

Full-Motion Video Endings are definintely the best type of ending for MK! Don't talk about space, because if Tekken is able to fit endings for every character in a PS1 disc, then MK7 should be able to fit FMV endings easily!
They should have done FMV endings for MK:D! MK4's FMV endings were pathetic, but that was back then when Midway was just getting into 3D! Now days, they could easily do awesome FMV endings! Look at the FMVs that they've already done for Deception! They look and sound very good!
There is no reason why MK7 should not have FMV endings! FMV ENDINGS ARE THE ANSWER!!!

No.
Bezou's right.
I agree with that too.

I agree with that too.

let me tell you, i don't like the idea, i've had enough with mk 4, now i hate fvm endings in fighting games, i liked the endings on mkda

I think not. It's more of a reward for beating the game. To be honest I enjoy still endings more than FMV endings.

It's not an issue of Midway's time, but it is a money issue(if they want to spend it or not). The people doing FMVs wouldn't be doing bug-fixing or anything else. They don't get allocated to do bugfixing, so saying "I'd rather they spent more time bugfixing etc is not relevant. If you want more bugfixing or characters you make the programmers who deal with those exact tasks to work longer hours or hire more of them-doesn't effect the people doing the FMV clips.

They would increase the cost of making the game, and more stuff for the same money to the customer=more value. The question is whether the company paying extra to make the endings will get that many extra sales (or people buying the game before it gets reduced in price...). This probably isn't the case.
I don't think it's true that if they put in fmv endings it would mean that less time and effort was given to the rest of the game- presumably the endings would be handled by specialists, or subcontracted to another company or something. It would be nice to see some video endings tho. Why not use real actors with bluescreen- how much can it cost to hire some virtually unknown actors for a day? Costumes might cost a bit tho.

Well, 2 things:
1- In MK4/Gold I think that didn't have FMV endings, only video endings...
2- I don't think that a game is worse to have non-video endings... the clearest example is SC & SC2
And I prefer MKDA endings to those of the MK4...

1 - People in this thread have been using the terms "FMV endings" and "video endings" as having the same meaning.
2 - I agree. MK:DA endings are better than the ones in MK4. Keep the text and narrator, I don't like the video endings either.

No it doesn't increase the value and no I don't care if they are Fmv or text/pic.As long as the ending stories are good, the rest is all fluff.

I think they would be kool, and thus increase the value albeit slightly.

Well the non FMV endings in MKDA were weak. I hope they improve them. They were so short.

it's not an increase of value....if anything it hurts the story....and please don't give me "well tekken does it" bottom line...tekken's stories except for the main charactars (heihachi, kazuya, etc.) are boring, rambling, pieces of garbage... sure they look great..but they're terrible in the fact that little to no story is revealed....
as story oriented as mortal kombat is, it is necessary to tell the whole story through the endings.....and video endings or fmv's just don't do the job(look at mk 4)......captions and rendors with a narrator is fine by me......i enjoyed the D.A. endings....

Exactly, I here a lack of memory being used as an excuse, in MK, more than that of any other franchise. I'm frankly tired of hearing it. There are things that games did way back in the days of PS1 that people are saying that MK can't do, even on a new Engine. There must be something they're doing wrong. However, I can see money being an issue, but then again, that's not our problem. Our job is to let Midway know what we like to see in a game. We are the consumers. Unless you work for Midway, you don't know what they have and don't have. And, I think that MK:DA did very well, financially, and MK:D will probably do just as well...
