I think a lot of people underestimate the power of player advocation. If you look back at MKDA, everyone was raving how there needed to be two fatalities, a lot of classic characters, stage fatalities, etc. and wham, we got it. It's because of online communities such as this one as well as others inform the Midway Team. I mean, Ed Boon has said a billion times how he/others on his team read the forums as well as how he takes input from players in his interviews.

So yes, players can make a change. Especially when 1truking backs up all of his critiques of the fighting engine with facts that are apparent in the engine. Community does matter.

1truking and others pointing on the flaws can honestly only do the game better. Every main fighting game community from every game desires for things to be changed and improved on in the next iteration. For people who want to better the series, only on MK Boards would they be called hater. Although I understand the aggression against 1truking because he is direct and blunt, doesn't like wasting time when he can get to the point about many assumptions about the system/tournament goings.

As for MK getting into EVO, I hope it does. Everyone here does. Midway will get a wakeup call when they see real competitive MKD play recorded. Infinites or no, the 50/50 game will be disheartening to see, yet may be needed to convince many that this game can't be played at a highly competitive level... as it is already random at casual levels due to the vast amount of 50/50s. Add in glitches, infinites, etc. and many people like myself wish the UMK3 days were back.

Some MK money matches might be cool to see too, we have $100-1000 money matches for many other games like Tekken, MvC2, etc. would be fun and add to the excitement.

This is where you are wrong. First off I'd like to point out you've got no issues calling me names yet you can't be bothered to read my posts. Kinda childish dont you think. As for it not helping well that just shows your own ignorance. You see it's common knowledge for real MK fans that midway has often listened to fan inupt on the mk's. They have listened on gameplay aspects as well as fluff. Granted the fixes for gameplay aspects are not always good but it shows that they do listen. I can point to other games where fan input changed things. Street fighter 3 originally had no ken or ryu in it. Fan's protested and they ended up being a part of it despite it not fitting as well with the idea of the game. We've got tekken 4 where it was a bad game it was downright horrible. It had 24 hours of beta test so it's not shocking it was so bad. Fans complained. Fans called it the worst tekken and guess what namco listened. They put out tekken 5 change the system so it's closer to the tekken 3/tag system and then they added in aspects from 4 and a few new things. The results were the best tekken to date and a fighter that is regarded as being very nearly on the level of virtua fighter 4. VF is another game where fan input made a differece. People didn't like the stages that had differing height levels. They did like the walls so VF 4 keeps the walls on some stages and they take out the different height levels. Result was a better game, though VF 3 wasn't a bad game especially if you compare vf 3 and tekken 4. Sorry but it is people like me that force these changes. Do you think namco would have done tekken 5 like they did if people just sat around and pretended nothing was wrong with it? I mean seriously this is the exact reason I want deception in evolution. To show that it's a bad game. It's quite honestly the laughing stock of the fighting game community. If boon and midway see it when it's forced to stand side by side with quality games maybe they'll implement the changes that need to be made to produce another MK that is average or better.

I'm direct and blunt simply because people remember it more. I've had quite a few people who originally disliked what I said but eventually told me they apreciated my comments. They said since I always backed it up so well eventually they saw thru what they perceived as negative and saw understood what I was really saying. It's a fact people remember negative things more than positive and you are far more likely to get people to change their minds by being direct and blunt than you are being sweet and kind. In some situations the proverb you catch more flys with honey than vinegar is true but not in all situations. Also my posts are generally easy to read and understand if you put in the time to read them. They are blunt and direct so no matter how smart or stupid a person is they can grasp the posts meaning.

I personally was in high school when street fighter 2 came out and I played it quite a bit at a 7-11 near my house not to mention a nice nickel arcade from time to time on the weekends. I didn't wait for it to come out at home I was out learning to play with others and got very good at it. MK came out and people freaked out. I messed around with it thought it was decent. It wasn't as good as street fighter 2 but it was a diversion. MK 2 rolls around and it was good. Still a bit behind SF but it was much improved. MK 3 comes out and it sucked but they made up for it with UMK 3. My point is I've put in as much time as you and probably more. I've played fighting games at levels you have never seen. I've made money playing fighting games what have you managed to do with them?

Actually, when it comes to the games not guaranteed a place in EVO, Deception is still in first. As Scott said, only the paid entries column counts, not the signed up one. So according to those rules, it's lagging behind Guilty Gear XX #R, SSFIIT, Street Fighter III: TS, Tekken 5, and it's tied with CvS2. All of those games already have a guaranteed spot in EVO though. What matters is which games are #1 and #2 from Virtua Fighter down. Right now, out of all the vote-dependent games, Deception is in the lead with 6 paid entries and Soul Calibur II is second with 4. Sure, considering 100 paid entries is the goal, the numbers are pathetic right now, but a lead is a lead. What would happen if none of the games reach 100?

Looks like registering for the games is lagging overall. Wonder when it will pick up...

Fucking Christ, you're so short sighted. Look at the big picture, this isn't about you or me. We're not just here to 'bash' the game for the fun of it, just for something to do. It seems you don't have a clue why we're here at all. Let me explain it.

This game has serious, unprofessional, game breaking problems out the wazoo. That's a fact, and you know this (if you don't know this, then we'll explain it to you if you'd like).

Now, we all want a good game, and we all want improvement. You don't get improvement by praising the thing you want to improve - why improve it if it's praiseworthy? You get improvement when you look at what needs improving, and you focus on that.

That's what we're doing.

If we all said "MKD was great but it really needs a lot of improvement" what do you think Midway is going to hear? All they're going to hear is "MKD is great", and they'll ignore the rest. If we say "MKD is a bad game because it does not do what it is intended to do, and here's a list of facts that support this", then there's no escaping it. It's right there, nobody can ignore that.

Obviously, the more people who understand this, the greater the number of people asking for improvement is going to be. What we're doing is increasing the number of people who want improvement, and increasing the amount of people asking for it - we 'badmouth' the game not for fun, but because it's a simple fact that it's bad, and we don't want that, we don't want bad games anymore. We want a good game. That's all there is to it, that's why we're here, and that's why we're saying what we say.

If you can disprove anything we say about this game being bad to play, then please do so. Nobody has yet disproved us, and many people who've argued with us have ended up agreeing with us.

They got it in the next game. They were listened to. Yes, as stated, I absolutely do, because it's a fact that he's listened to fans before. Boon has to do what's profitable for Midway. If he doesn't, he's fired, and MK will probably disappear. If the people will only buy a game with a decent system of play, then Boon will be forced to implement a decent system of play in MK7.



He doesn't state why because he, and the rest of us, have explained why over and over again, it's common knowledge to anybody who's played the game. If you asked him to, i'm sure he would though. Anyway, this is neither here nor there because you KNOW this game is screwed up, and you just have a bee in your bonnet and are arguing the point for the sake of arguing the point.
