Fight Night Pictures and Transcript Now Available!

Another Fight Night has concluded, and it was a resounding success. Our thanks to the hundreds of people that attended the event, and a special thanks to Midway Games for hosting this phenomenal event. In addition to the transcript being available for Fight Night 2005: Shaolin Monks, we were privileged to snap a plethora of images from the event. If nothing else, these pictures confirm the presence of the Shaolin Monks development team!

Thanks again to all who participated tonight, and stay tuned to Mortal Kombat Online as we field the latest happenings in the Mortal Kombat universe!

So we know that there is a TON of content that was left out in MKSM, and we also know that Shaun Himmerick has a really bad habit of cussing and telling lame jokes. Oh well at least we got a little bit of MK7 info.

Nice chat...what's with all the "field" shit? "I'll field this question"...wtf? I know it can be used this way, but it was WAY overused. Am I on to something? Meh, who cares.

I'll field this one ...

It was an inside joke. All of the staff members were in one room for this, with the exception of Barclay Smith. He was in a different room on speaker phone, and the first question was right in his field. However, he was taking forever to respond so we kept yelling "HEY BARCLAY! ANSWER THE QUESTION!" So he started typing really loud over speaker phone and came up with one sentence, "I'll field this one ..."

Yeah, it was what I thought it would be. Although the humor and (yes lame) jokes were appealing, I do wish it was a bit more serious, and they answered it in more detail?

So is MK:SM non-canon, but just with a few canon aspects? Or is it all canon? Is it a replacement to the MK2 storyline, an addition, or an interpretation? So much still left unsaid.

Needless to say, it's a nice game to play, but I've already decided it's overall irrelevant and I await more news on MK7.

So there was a lot of stuff cut eh? Does this mean in 6 months there will be a "Ultimate Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks?" with 5 minutes of additional story, an extra boss battle and the versus characters in story mode... Yeah, so I'm talking out my ass, it's not like they haven't done it before.

Overall, I was overly unimpressed with the Fight Night... How did Shaun go from being a cool dude in those Developer's Diaries that were posted here during MKSM's development, to being a complete twit at the chat? That's my question.

Shaun's language seemed a little too foul. And every time before Boon talked, he said "this is Ed".

Something just seemed a little off.

Umm...as M4C said, everyone was in the same room. Notice the pictures, particularly the one in the bottom right-hand corner, showing the MKSM guys with the MKO staff.

Anyway, as others have said, it's about what I expected: the answer to almost every question was "We didn't have time" (regarding content inclusion), or "All will be revealed in time" (ie. Quan Chi and the amulet). Honestly, I wish they had taken more time with the game to include more of the content they had planned, and particularly to tell a halfway decent story. If the release was delayed, so be it; I'm tired of getting half-finished products from the MK team.

personally, i think fight night is, and always has been, set up. they prolly knew all the questions before they were even asked.

why would shaun be cursing at ed and the rest of the guys in the chat when hes sitting RIGHT NEXT TO THEM???

fight nights are always hyped up and end up being a let down. i really hate when a question gets asked, and then gets answered with a cryptic message, or a question. something like "is scorpion playable?" answer: "no....or is he??"

and then theres the mko staff. well, better not say anything or ill get banned..(what else is new)..and i thought being honest was a good thing. i also noticed that fight night chats keep getting smaller and smaller. couldnt imagine why.

It's a flash movie by ]{0MBAT and Bezou. You can see the series on Newgrounds.
