Ashrah is also a holy period in Islamic religions, among other things. Interesting to me is that I've read some instances of Ashrah also representing the phallus.
The assumption that a deity representing fertility is primarily sexual is highly juvenile. Fertility goddesses often also represented the regeneration of crops--regeneration of things in general, and hardly ever connote merely sensual fulfillment. Their importance was the continuation of people in general, the perseverence of culture and values, etc.

So she was a goddess of Sex, eh? That's interesting. Maybe her fatality would be to put her opponents head in between her breasts, and then her breasts would squeeze the head until it popped! And her Hari Kari would be a bunch of men smothering her to death! Then I would consider Deception to be the most wacky game of all time.

in the old testament it is spelled Asherah, she is the goddess of fertility of the Canaanites. Her consort was Baal, god of thunder and lightning and the whole weather, i.e. rain, etc. This is true based on the Scriptures and the ancient text from the people of Canaan
