Hmmm, should Shang Tsung get his morphs back from the 2D days in MK8 if hes in?

I gotta completely disagree there. Shang's only good look is his MK1. The evil old man was his MO. His MKDA was better than 2 or 3 though, I'll give you that. But I do want to see a completely new look for MKvsDC. Something darker. The ninja's suffer enough with mere upgrades to their old look, instead of something new. (except for Sub, they at least tried to change him)

I'd have to give you the same credit. If they hadn't copped out of the evil old man, I'd be happy to go original. Because they did, MKDA Shang has to be the penultimate version of the character.
Stepping backward would just make him look weak, and I can't say I appreciate frivilous wardrobe changes much more.

In both cases the powerful sorcerer and ruler of Hell that are oh-so feared should be bringing their own strengths to the table. I could appreciate the novelty under the earlier restrictions of technology, but the logic isn't great.

You're incorrect about the hard drive being a solution. It can only hold so much info and said info could not be accessed instantaneously. The reason MK4 did not have load times on the 64 (for Shinnok's mimmicking abilities) is because the game was CARTRIDGE-based and, therefore, all of its data was accessible at any given time. A disc-based system requires loading--and the 360's harddrive is no exception--just look at Oblivion's many add-ons as prood--it loads them when you use them, just like the regular version of the game. (I'm talking the add-ons before the 1-disc Platinum Hits release)
I'm not making this stuff up--it's just too hard to do, without making the characters only a handful of polys (and therefore fugly) or having atrocious loading times in the middle of a match. It can't happen.

... Isn't the difference glaringly obvious there?...
I'd much rather an individual rather than a character who spends most of his time transforming into other characters, but god knows that's the last thing MK fans care about, so I won't go there... I'm just wondering if anyone's talked about front-ended loading with hard drives...
Isn't that the solution of this generation?

That was PSX, the N64 version was much better. No load times, freezing or loading with Shinnok.

Yeah, well that's kind of why I posted that....being that I've owned both versions...
Bit of a nobrainer there when it comes to MK4, N64 handles 3D games better then PSX.
The fact that PSX used a disc also to the other guys in here doesn't mean anything really...look at the current consoles all use discs. PSX just did a shitty job with MK4 for some reason. Yeah, the N64 had card's which made it easier but PSX fucked up also on their part with MK4.

He won't be able to morph because it would slow the gameplay down and everyone would complain. The system can't load 20 characters and still look good--it'd be impossible. Neither the 360 or the Ps3 can handle it. It won't happen. Yes, it'd be cool, but it's impractical and just can't happen on these consoles. It's not a 'we don't want to do this' issue, it's a 'the technology won't allow us to do this' issue.
Why do they remove signiture moves? Well, with DA, they wanted to focus on actual fighting, not on special moves fighting. I still think bringing back the teleports was stupid. The only special moves I found myself wondering about were Reptile's invisibility and Cage's LowBlow/Split Punch and Shadow Uppercut ('cause in DA Drahmin had a modified version of it). Those were the only ones I missed.
You don't know for sure...the 360 can be capable of it, we don't know. PS3 I can see there being a problem since they've had problems with MK4 Shinnok's morphs and even MKT's shang morphs....and the gameplay was 2D in both games.....so out of fairness they most likely won't do it because it would piss off the PS fans...if Shang was able to morph on the 360 verison, but not the PS version. I think if they really, really wanted to they could do it. But I do feel and agree they should use that memory for other important things. He won't be able to morph because it would slow the gameplay down and everyone would complain.
