OMG, you wouldnt believe how much I hate this fuckin Ryu copy off. HE is the biggest waste of space on a game ever created. He is so fuckin cheap and BORING to watch and PLAY. Dam I wish Kira's ending came true and they would KILL off this fuckin asshole. I cant stand just looking at him. If hes the one they show when the MKD main maenu appears I turn my Xbox off and turn it back on. Whats worse is that everyone picks this fuck over on the Ps2 and they think their big shit when they win using Kali Sticks. Same shit over and over and over. Fireball, low fireball, low fireball. I will infinite any fucker who throws more than 10 low fireballs in one match. I wish he was a secret character instead that way I can keep him unlocked and wont have to look at his gay ass all the time. Give me Dai or Bo anytime. Just dont pick this Homo.

But seriously I don't like Kobra either... hope he gets killed in MKA along with Shujinko, Dairou, Darrius.
Among the new Characters that I liked are:
Frost, Ashrah, Li Mei, Kenshi. Kira has potential, but should have her own moves and not rip off Kano & Sonya's moves.

I swear to god, Midway should make an MK with nothing but a cast of twenty ninjas to teach people a lesson. Because that's all people seem to want.
Now, keep in mind I'm not trying to shove my beliefs down anyone's throat. But there's something really wrong when practically every single new character introduced since deadly alliance gets ragged on by fans.
Nitara: "Vampires don't belong in the MK universe."
Hsu Hao: "He looks like a member of the village people."
Bo Rai Cho: "He's fat."
Mind you, there have been exceptions to the rule:
Frost: "Cool, a female Sub-Zero/ninja."
Havik: "Cool, a walking corpse."
See where I'm going here?
Never mind that Kira had enough balls to disguise herself as a man and deal with terrorists, never mind that Kobra is a martial artist who acquired a taste for bloodshed, if they don't look cool enough or have a huge moveset, there goes their potential popularity.
This isn't to say that these characters are flawless. I personally agree with the majority that Kobra DOES need an improvement, and Kira does indeed need new moves. But that's no reason to banish them from the collective mindset forever.
I personally think that almost every new character from MKD had amazing storyline potential, and don't deserve the hate they get from fans. A tweak here and there, and they'll be classics.
Bo' Rai Cho is the archetype of the drunken master. He's responsible for teaching Liu Kang and Kung Lao. He's a general when he needs to be. He's molded as a compassionate and strong character, has a strong history, and he gets blasted because he has a few extra pounds and a flatulence problem. I'm sure if he didn't fart at least, a lot more people would like him.
People who felt vampires didn't belong in MK need to take a look at the centaur from MK3. There's another mythological monster for you.
I never understood why Drahmin was unpopular. He had a hell of a backstory, methinks. Didn't people want to play as a walking zombie/corpse/demon for ages? We get one, and there's no love.
Hsu Hao and Mavado were two examples of characters with interesting stories. We had in Mavado a master plotter who could wait years before striking at the right time, and in Hsu Hao a master spy and infiltrator, working in secret with the Red Dragon against the Special Forces for years. Noob Saibot could have taken lessons from that guy. People didn't like Mavado because he stole Kabal's hookswords, and I'm sure that hat was the reason Hsu Hao got ragged on so much.
I never even got why people disliked Shujinko. Sure, he was an idiot, but he was loveable in his naivete. At least he wanted to set things right. Hell of a story, if you didn't notice.
Anyway, I'll recap: in a nutshell, I feel that people like Kobra, Kira, Darrius and Hsu Hao deserve another chance. They just need a little improvement, and some fresh moves.
Staring at the first page here, and I'm seeing two topics that involve Chameleon, a ninja with nothing going for him but his appearance.
Can't count the number of times I've seen people asking for Reptile to become a human ninja again.
Something's wrong with the world.
Mind you, not that any of this matters. Hell, for some reason people are glad that Stryker and Reiko are back. I suppose in 4 years people will be clamoring for Mokap again.

I guess I'm the only one who really doesn't give a damn about whether or not the characters look like they belong in MK. I think the only characters that you guys like are Ninjas that freeze things, burn things, wet things, shock things, spear things, and spit acid. No variety in your lives .
I thought all the characters in these games were either good or bad in terms of how well they played, not whether or not they looked like demons or Ninjas. I happen to like Kobra, Li Mei, Kira, and Mavado. I'm more of a hands on player, not an "Oh! This guy looks LAME!" kind of player. When played well, the characters that I mentioned are a blast to use.
I noticed a trend since MK2, every character that has been introduced to MK has been hated by the hardcore MK fans. They have never accepted change and are hard-boiled. Sadly, most hardcore MK fans would be satisfied with pallette swapped ninjas who play exactly the same and use the old control scheme......

Open your minds guys and just have fun with the characters that you love. It's messages like these that lead the MK Team to believe that we don't want anything new for this series. That the main reason why the gameplay has suffered so. I like the direction they were heading with the new play mechanics but the fans that spoke loudest were those who only wanted more fatalities and were more concerned with the size of Kitana's tits.
Embrace new ideas, shun monotony.

I hate Kobra, but I'm not someone who just favors only the ninja characters. I like Li Mei, Mavado, Shang Tsung, Raiden and others.

I hate all of the new characters from MKDA except Kenshi, Drahmin, and Hotaru. Kenshi being the best.

I despise Kobra. He's easily one of the worst character concepts ever used in an MK game. Seriously. They've had vastly better ideas in the MKDA Krypt and they churn out Kobra (and Darrius too). I'd say they were slacking.
I'm no ninja fan, but Kobra has no decent background or story. He should stay, but only if he can get a good story. I agree with what you said Shadaloo and most of those characters you named I love. Nitara and Frost for example are awesome and vastly superior to Kobra.

Kobra looks like Sonya gone tranny. I hated Kobra and Darrius they blowed chunks. Anyways I think the best new character from MK:DA and MK:D was Nitara. She kicked ass. I'm glad she's going to be in Armagedon (sp?)

I respect all characters to some point to ever hit the MK series, however there are a few that I just don't like.Whether it's lack of depth, lack of story or lack of gameplay with that character then I just can't say I like guys like Malvado, Bo.I mean, I'm not sure if some will agree or disagree but I feel that the hookswords were a hell of a lot more useful in Kabal's hands again then in Malvado's.
I'm glad now that the ninjas all look different and we can actually establish the difference between all of them as oppose to pallete swaps with different colors.

Bo Rai Cho is a good character. My only beef with him is his weapon.
In fact, i really like Kira. She has a cool look, and she is a well thought out character.
Hell, i like most of the new additions.
The only ones i hate are all the Orderealmers except Hotaru (they seem force fed, a side plot that doesnt really intertwine with the rest of MK) and Kobra.
I just dont like Kobra's look and fight styles. He could have been a good underground fighter, but instead is too much of a generic character. He seems too run of the mile. He could be improved, but somehow i doubt it.

Hotaru looks cool, but god damn man, I've never seen a more two-dimensional excuse for a character in my life. His ambitions were: 1) Serve Onaga 2) Uphold law. You ask me, he needs way more improvement than Darrius did. More than 2 moves wouldn't hurt, either.

Frost a Sub-Zero clone? Frost plays far differently from Sub-Zero and her mentality is far different as well.
