I certainly wouldn't be surprized, they have only used it for two games after all, and the general trend now for 3D fighters is to improve upon what they have instead of doing something new.

uhhh maybe cuz it'll be on ps3 and xbox 2 and they hold 3 timez the memory so there will be huge enhancements but the fighting engine might throw in some cartwheels and backflips n other good shit
Like FLStyle said, they'll keep the same engine for at least another game, modifying and tweaking it as they get feedback when the game is released. We don't know how improved MKD's engine is over MKDA's and we won't until we get our hands on it in October.

As long as it's improved I won't mind. They will most likely use it for another game as already said. They have plenty of time and even better consoles to work on so they can do a lot of improvements. We'll see if they use this opportunity nearer the time of MK7s release.

Yes I would definately buy it. Call me crazy but I enjoy the story of Mortal Kombat more than the game itself. Obviously I would like to see improvements, but I dont really care if they overhaul the whole thing. If you look at the gradual changes made to the Smackdown! games from PS1 to now, at its heart its still pretty much the same but with slight improvements.
If you think about it, why should they change the engine to be more like Tekken, or Soul Calibur ect.
Thats what makes those game those games. If MK started playing more like other fighting games, then everyone would bitch that its a rip off. If you ask me , the only thing missing from MK:DA was the Uperrcut,Multi Fatility, Stage Fatility, and classic Special moves, all of which have been included, so im happy

I doubt it.
I think we will see some major changes in Mk7 gameplay. I hope it stays the same as in MKDA and MKD (fighting styles), but more advanced.
People should had not expected major chances for MKD though, the gameplay of MKDA has just been introduced, and since it was a success, its obvious that they will use it again, the same way as before.
But now, Mk7 might have a major change, that I can expect.

I completely agree with this statement, it's what makes the game. (and from one wrestling fan to another I also agree with the Smackdown series statement, but it always makes me wish they kept the same engine from wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy)

I don't agree with that statement. The only people that would bitch about it being a rip-off are people that only look at fighting games at face value, the casual gamer. The hardcore crowd on the other hand would finally accept it as being playable and who knows, they might praise it?
It's a double edged sword, alienate a majority of one group of fans but get a whole new group of fans.
Saying that implementing a few basic gameplay elements pioneered by established 3D fighting franchises and saying it's "copying" is kind of silly. It could retain it's whole aura of mysterious-ness and violence yet be fundamentally solid.

It would not be a suprize. However, they need to add something to the fighting style to make it different from DA and Deception. I haven't a clue what they could add but they could think of something.
but the one thing that I am glad about this fighting engine then MK4. is that you don't have to push a button to move in or out of the background.

I would like it if the engine was mostly the same.I agreed that DA was only missing stage fatalites and multi fatalities.
The only fighting games i like are soul calibur and MK.

as i recall the game is gonna come out on the ps3 so they're gonna create the game from scratch not like deception and deadly alliance.

I dont think it will have the same egine, because the PS3 will be a much more powerfull system. Probably not.

I definitely prefer MKD's fighting engine over the button smashing engines of Soul Calibur II and DOA3. They get old real quick. MK7 could just refine the existing Mortal Kombat fighting engine to a high degree.

I AGREE! That is one of many many reasons why I dislike other fighting games so much!
they are just not fun for me. I get bored quickly, (and Im a great player with the gameplay of those games) and the gameplay is so boring.
I dont see whats so good in the gameplay of SF games or Soul Calibur.
NOW DO NOT FLAME ME! This is MY opinion. I hate the gameplay of those games, Im a great player, but they just boring.

I would hope for a big change for MK7, but I'm expecting something like MKD with much better graphics and special effects.

I honestly hope MK7 is the grand-master of all that is Mortal Kombat. Untouchable in the fighting genre. To really reclaim the crown and keep the crown for a long time.
If they use the DA engine, they should heavily modify it, so the characters look much more real and the animation and hit detection is flawless.
We don't need any new modes, they should just build on the current Konquest and Puzzle Kombat modes. They have everything in terms of extra's down stat. They really need to focus on fighting and detail within the fighting.

As long as they make improvements in it such as more moves, combo customization, etc. then I'll be happy about it.

I dare you to post that to the rest of the gaming community, that's the sort of thing that would get Bruce Banner green + musculy in seconds
