A lot of fanboys would disagree.

There is also the fact that none of Batman's villains are powerful enough to cause the two words to merge or that are a match/counterpart to Shao Khan.

Poor introductory story, redundant anti-Batman concept, and go nowhere omnipresence for a few years, really didn't make for a popular character.
I don't mind the character, but I wouldn't argue he's great.

Vash you don't fool anybody dude.....you can claim all you want that he's "your favorite Batman character", but I'll bet every single thing I own that before this movie and before the first image of Heath Ledger playing the Joker came out that you never once put on face paint to look like Joker or whatever the fuck.

You're fake like every other poser that tries to be him. You're not the Joker...you don't look like him, and you'll never be him. You're a 15 year old kid who thinks he's cool and the truth is.....you're not dude.

Rather than another cross over, I’d much rather see just a solely Batman fighting game.

Batman
Joker
Nightwing
Batgirl (Cassandra Cain)
Robin (Tim Drake)
Lady Shiva
Two-Face
Deadshot
Zsaaz Huntress
Ra’s al Ghul
Talia al Ghul
Bane
Scarecrow
Mister Freeze
Catwoman
Black Mask
Killer Croc
Man-Bat
Clayface
The Penguin Riddler
Poison Ivy
Hush

I agree that it's pretty lame, but chill out. You sound personally offended or something, as if it's sacrilegious for somebody to take the Jokers name or image in vain without actually being homicidal. The Joker wasn't a prophet, the joker wasn't anything, it's just a fictional character. It's like getting aggro over somebody dressing like Spongebob Squarepants.

Comic books, SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Anyway, MK vs Batman could've worked I guess. But it just seems a little lame as a concept even if the execution could have been decent. Also would have seemed like a huge obvious cash-in on a popular movie franchise, which is too gimmicky even by MK's standards. Feels kind of like MK vs the LA Lakers or something.

I know I always struggle to remember what's happening in current issues of Detective Comics, let alone ancient history like 2003!

Batman's especially accessible to the uninitiated, so I suppose it's fair enough someone's going to want to shoehorn the familiar into a game like this. I just don't understand how so many people aren't more self-aware. Stop calling everything perfect!!!

MK/Batman, aside from being incredibly narrow sighted, would also suffer from the fact that the Batman villains are so memorable for their moments as characters. Cramming this cast into super-powered gimmickery might not be impossible, but as street level opponents, they are among the least qualified for this sub-genre of video games, and it completely robs many of them of what makes them so intriguing to begin with.

Presumably the recent popularity of The Dark Knight is feulling a sizable chunk of the Bat-support -- those who can pause long enough to reflect on the content moreso than the hype will appreciate the importance of characterization to the Batman universe at it's best.

I think most would agree the universal disappointment of MKvsDC is the limited number of characters on offer. With the full list I think the problem is clearly who was left out - not who was included!
By selecting who they have from the DCU they've catered to a lot of considerations relatively well. They've represented the super powers, the concepts, and characters with a cross-section of styles and relevance. Players, wittingly or not, will be better for it.
Certainly the brightest of the characters, who are already on good terms with punching and kicking, are the least affected by the fighting genre they keep getting thrust into.

The upcoming Arkham Asylum game - already being anticipated as the best Batman game ever - is a prime example of how the Bat-characters are better used, including them in a strong narrative that makes use of characterization as much as arbitrary powers.
I don't know about "perfect," but it's getting there!

Rep points to FOXSOLID for blurting out what many have surely been thinking. Get a happy meal toy, MySpace generation! Wake up early and get some exercise by going to buy a comic in the sunshine, hormonal punks! Grrr, back in my day...!

...If you ever say Bat-Support again...

On topic, I would hate the concept for this game and there are plenty of other Gotham-based good guys, or "Good"-guys to choose from.

Huntress

Red Hood

Damien Wayne (not Gotham-Based, but definitely a Batman character)

Tim Drake

Cassandra Caine

J'onn J'onzz (hey, he started out working as a detective in Gotham)

Metamorpho (he's an Outsider)

I'll just go on and say the rest of the Outsiders well.

MK vs. Heroes? Haha.

Yeah, that's the burden that came with Dark Knight, anything and eveyrhing batman related seems like a gimmicky way to rake in Dark Knight fans, it seems.
