If you could base a character on Greek Mythology which one would you choose?

The whole concept of Greek Mythology is very much like the realm of Mortal Kombat. Motaro was a creature based on Greek Mythology which was a Centaur.
But if you were able to have a new character into Mortal Kombat, which kind of Greek Mythological figure will you base him or her on?
I myself would have a new character that would be a Cyclops.

A dragon-woman...maybe a herald or concubine of the Dragon King, and name her Scylla. Doesn't really pertain to the myth of Scylla (from the Odyssey), but hey, for a fatality she could always turn into some horrible creature and make a snack out of you. Lame? Yeah, I suppose, but its late and its all I could think of.

I made a similar thread like this before.
But i do like the half women-dragon idea.
I would also like to see a dracula.

Lui Kang was a good start. Sonya would be a good next choice.

I rather step into the realm of Egyptian mythology and choose Thoth. Lots of magic.

speaking of Egyptian Mythology, how about Set? More than anything else, I draw inspiration not from the Egyptian Mythological interpretation of Set, but actually of the mythology behind Conan the Barbarian. In the first movie, Thulsa Doom was a demi-god whose demonic form was that of a snake. I think it would be pretty cool to see an ultra-powerful leader, not necessarily loyal to anyone but himself, vying for power, with his mythology based on the Conan interpretation of Set. Of course, not RELATED in anyway to Conan...i'm just saying the mythology can draw inspiration from the idea. The Conan mythos created by Robert E. Howard is based fictitiously on Cimmerian culture. Set, if I remember correctly from my Theology class in my undergrad years, was considered a god among many cultures, interpreted differently in each.
Eh, rambling again.

Combining the elements of Typhon from Greek mythology with the elements of Set could make for a wicked character. Snakes galore!

If diety: Athena, goddess of Wisdom, Arts/Crafts and Military (Martial) Arts or Ares, god of War.
If mortal: Atlanta/Atalanta or Perseus (not Hercules, we seen enough of him on TV)
If creature: the Hydra (Multi-headed snake killed by Hercules) or the Medusa (Gorgon/snake haired woman killed by Perseus. Had the power to turn people to stone.).

This is about GREEK Mythology, if you want to post about Egyptian/Oriental Mythology make a different post. Also not to be a tight ass and it's probably just a mistake on your part LadyRaiden but Athena wasn't goddess of Martial Arts but goddess of Warriors and Crafts, also it's not Atlanta it's Atalanta, once again I apologize if you perceive me as a cunt. But I guess it's true that you learn something new everyday. Anyway my reply to this topic would have to be either the Minotaur or the Hydra.

No problem, just be aware that the spellings and definitions of mythological beings varies from book to book. Your version may be correct in the books and other sources you have seen/read, but my versions are correct in regards to my sources. Hopefully this will be educational for you as well.

Minotaur or Ciclop are my choices, but Medusa and Naga (isn't from Greek Mythology, I believe that she's from Asian Mythology, but I like) are good choices too.

LadyRaiden. Athena is the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, and i think Arhery.

When I read the subject I thought you were reffering to actual characters as oposed to mytholgical creatures. Personally I would not mind seeing some new ideas. Don't get me wrong I love mythology (it has even been in my profile since day 1!) but I would like to see the new games with wild characters that are unlike any seen today.

Is Medusa part of Greek mythology? I'm not positive, i have only a vague understanding of Greek mythology, but if she is she would make an excellent MK based charachter.

I had an idea to a while back about the medusa thing. It would be pretty cool.
But a minosaur would seriously kick some sorry ass. I would love seeing one, and seeing one as a sub boss would be excellent. The whole concept of it really has the touches of mk.
