i actually think that's a good thing. making 2 instead of 3 version of the same game will surely mean that the developers will be able to devote more time to the versions being developed.

If MKDA were coming out for GC it prob would have to be two mindiscs large.(or fit on 1 disc and cut some stuff out). MK6 looks HUGE in content.

Well I have access to all 3 consoles, and when it went to multi-platform games I always went Xbox. If I wanted RPGs I usually hit the PS2. If I wanted some PC vibe without the PC, Xbox. If I wanted to play Mario, then the Cube. Yeah I feel sorry for the Cube, IMHO it was held back by Nintendo and its narrowminded scope. Well I'll be getting this game for Xbox and be happy I do. I'm gonna love having HDTV support, and heck I can play the thing in at least Pro Logic II (home theater was a wise investment in the ultimate time killer).
I didn't have fun playing MKDA on cube esp with its controller.

Game/Graphics data only takes about 500 MB - 800 MB in today's games. Even Grand Theft Auto Vice City only required 978 MB of game/graphics data, the rest of the space went to music and speech. Gamecube disc can hold 1.5GB(Twice as much as a PSOne disc/PS2 Blue disc). The only thing they would have to do would be to compress the video and audio. And that really wouldn't be a problem because I don't think the audio would have to be heavily compressed but the video would probably suffer a loss in quality.

For those who have only a Game Cube don't worry. You have untill the fall to get a playstation 2 or an xbox system. We still have the spring and the summer to earn money and earning 250 dollars in two seasons is not hard to do at all.
I think it was a bold move but it could be an effective move. Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance had a dead line for 3 systems. Because of that some characters were undeveloped and some features were left out the wear and tear feature was never able to make it into the game because of lack of time to develop.
Now since there is only 2 systems to work for, I think the game will have more detail into it. For those who are complaining about this move that Midway has made, I think it would be wisest to stop that and go and earn money for the fall.

It will take about the same amount of time because the PS2 is the hardest console to develop for. However, it is very easy to port from PS2 to Gamecube. That is how Midway did Deadly Alliance, they worked on it with the PS2 and Xbox and then they just ported the code from the PS2 version and enhanced the graphics and speed and changed the controls.

i have both gamecube and ps2 and the only reason i got it for gamecube was because the loading time was fast it my have only been a few more seconds but that was about it and the graphics were a little better too

Up till now I was a loyal Nintendo fan-- but now the only thing I have to say is FUCK nintendo-- I shall embrass the PS2 now.

I thought the game was made on XBox? I remember in the behind the scenes on MKDA the programmers were using XBox controllers. Hmm or maybe it just happened during that day of filming? Well I wouldn't be surprised if both versions (PS2 and XBox) has their own separate crews with another crew that works the common code. They did say they wanted to use each system's specs to the advantage.
I heard about the port for PS2 to Cube. Is it easier to go from PS2 to XBox and vice versa?

This makes me sad, because I'm a MK and Nintendo fan that loved all the MK games that where made for the big N. But now for the first time ever Nintendo gets the shaft, but there's no good reason to do this because the game sold well on the gamecube. I have a PS2 and ofcourse i'm gonna buy it for this system but what I can't understand is why not make it for the GC. If you put it on all 3 major consoles you target all of the audience that u want to target, it's not like nintendo doesn't make midway money. This is a sad day for MK fans.

God when will people learn that Nintendo is having problems with everyone, not just MK. Theyre (the excecutives) are out in their own ****in world doing their own daydreaming, but it definetly is very very detremental to everything they are doing to their future.

Thought about it...
What is the point of Nintendo selling their GC Broadband adapter then eh?!

nintendo took a crap on al 3rd party developers, most developers hate nintendo, look at the n64 and ps1.
snes had a boat load of 3rd party games.
but then the n64 and ps1 came out, ps1 sold more then the n64, or about the same at start, so they all left nintendo and went to sony, and now to xbox.
hard to say it, but nintendo is only good for nintendo games, if u dont like nintendo characters and games, dont buy gamecube, i precict there next system to do even worst the way there going.
o yea, ps2 ports to other systems.
when developers develope a game for multiple systems, they make it for the weakest, least powerful console first, then port it to the more powerfull console, since ps2 is the least powerfull, its developed for it, then ported.
its odd how the dreamcast had better graphics than the ps2, isn't it?

Same. No GC = Better game. If you have GC and now you have to buy a new system I say you go with Xbox.
This is very unconfirmed but Downloadable content anyone? Yeah. If Downloadable content is posted (ie: New Outfits, Arenas, Character (
PS: You may kick my ass. I have my moments but I still suck. lol And I've been playing MK since I was so young. lol
Anywho. If the Dev. Team has one less console to worry about then we can expect a way better game. :)
Just my 2 cents.

if optomized for each system, then XBox has it, b/c of the higher specs and hard drive standard.

Why the fuck is everyone bitching about the gamecube getting shafted. Don't get me wrong I got nothing personal against the gamecube, I own one and like it. It is bad news for cube owners though, but quit saying ow DA sold well. If you read the dam articles Midway says there not doing a cube version for the simple fact that DA did poorly, and sold the least on the Gamecube. Midway is in enough money problems having only 2 systems to work with makes it easier, and shorter developement time. It means that the developement team that did the work on the gamecube can be split between the PS2 and xbox, which might explain why the game looks as far along as it is. Also qiut bitching about how you don't have the money. The prices on both systems are expected to drop by the fall or end of the year. PS2 -> $100, and Xbox -> $150. you got more than enough time to come up with money for a new system.
And don't even say that ow the only good game the systems have to offer are the MK games. Open your eyes, and mind to the other titles each system offers. I garentee you that you will find a lot of good games for both, that you would have never considered playing. I actually bought a Xbox a month before the initial release date for MK:DA (nov) just for that game alone. When DA got pushed back I started looking at other titles to pass the time till DA came out and found more than enough game that I enjoyed. And out of all 3 of the current consoles my Xbox library is probably the biggest next to PSOne, if not bigger. As compared to other current systems as well Xbox has the most anticipated and high profiled games comming out this year (Ninja Gaiden, Halo 2, Fable, Area 51, Dead or Alive:Ultimate, just to name a few). If any hasn't noticed either most multi-platform games tend to be better on Xbox too.

This doesn't bother me at all, really. Despite the fact that I have a GC and like it, a lot, I still have a PS2. I'm not gonna get an X-Box simply because they have nothing else I'd like, and I have no place for it to go. PS2 will do just fine in my field.

Heh, o whell... i got MKDA for my gc, but I got all 3 systems, so its all good...

well I am sad too that MK6 isnt coming to Gamecube, even though I would have bought MK6 on gamecube and PS2,since I knew that the gamecube version most likey wouldn't have gone online. I just hope that the PS2 version supports 56k users like myself. I play jedi academy online on my PC on 56k with like 20 other people and my ping is low (at night and sometimes in the evening) I hope MK6 does well on PS2 and Xbox to help Midway out , and then maybe Midway will do a MK6 for GC in the future .If MK6 never comes to GC, so be it at least we have a new MK. till next time
