ah so basically midway is fucking xbox owners again. of course mkd will be best on xbox. but as a wise man once said: "quit being so fucking lazy developers and optimize the hardware you're working with". no wonder midway keeps doing down the drain financially. i don't feel bad for them.

by this you mean each DIFFERENT VERSION of the PS2 right? I was unaware of versions being different, but i guess it only makes sense. Do you have any idea what different versions imply?
if you are unaware of what version you own, start your PS2 up with NO GAME IN IT and then go to the options list or whatever its called to look into your systems performance or model. Within these options youll eventually find which version you have ( i.e. 1.2 or 1.3 )

In my oppion they should not try to equalize the consoles like they did with MK:DA. They should specifically push each console to their maximum. If one version ends up looking better, because it is a more advanced system, or because it's controles are more responsive, then that's a plus for that platform. I don't think they should detune, or not optimize a version because it seels more copies. Push both the PS2 and the XBOX versions as much as you can.

im going to have to agree with MENTHOL. once again midway misinforms the public, they did it with mkda and now there doing it with mk deception. as there supposedly to take advantage of each of the consoles strenght. basically all what haven been said was a crock, there just going to work off the ps2 version and slap it on the xbox without taking advantage of the xbox strenght. sounds like there lazy and no wonder midway is in a financial down fall, they need to keep there promises and they tell a public a lie, if Mobster4Christ information is correct. Mortal Kombat Deception still going to be one hell of a game, but its the principal of the matter midway shouldnt make promises they cant keep as in taking advantage of the consoles strength.

i think thats why they opted to not include Deception for the Gamecube. In terms of sales DA on the Cube didnt sell nearly as well as the other systems due in part to gamecubes mass audience of younger kids and newer gamers. I could be wrong but it seems an older audience owns xbox and ps2's.
Gamecube wouldn't be able to handle all the kontent the ps2 and xbox are doing, it would likely have to be a double disc. And since gamecube isnt online yet (is it?) those who bought it on gamecube would feel inferior. I think it was a smart move by midway to NOT include gamecube owners, sorry.
the mk team is ass-backwards these days. in the arcade days, they'd build their game up on the best hardware. now they build it up on the worst. could you imagine mk2 being built up on snes hardware and ported to the arcade? that's pretty much what they're doing these days. ps2 fanboys will take anything. that's why they should build it up on xbox and strip it down to scrubby proportions for ps2 owners. they wouldn't have a problem with it (as it's obvious 3rd party games will always sell better on ps2 no matter how much better it is on another system). that way they'll please everyone.

Yea, Gamecube is online. I think its got a 56k and broadband. Its just that Nintendo itself does not like to support online play.

i think they should utilize the Xbox's power and water it down for PS2 instead of doing things backwards as pointed out earlier... the graphics should be up there with DOA3 or Ninja Gaiden and then water it down as much as needed for PS2... Xbox could handle a great deal more than PS2... I am not just talking extra characters... give all versions the same characters, but there could be more levels or content as well as graphics, but thats just me... later

The reason Midway isn't "watering down" Deception from being built on the xbox or starting the project with the xbox engine is based on the SALES!!!! The majority of the fan base are ps2 owners, and the largest majority of sales are ps2 owners. Well over a million sales on the ps2 !!! And i believe midway is rewarding those sales by making the ps2 the base of its operations.
I would be pissed if the xbox was the starting point and then ps2 owners got the watered down version.
In the long run i believe Midway will make the game play as strong as the ps2 will allow; and afterwards they will most likely utilize xboxs power to sharpen the resolution and frame rate for that system. But i dont want it the other way around!

LOOOOOL what a load of crap. they're lazy and don't want to waste any resources for making two different versions. they're not giving a "special treat" to ps2 owners. it's just a lot cheaper to build it up on ps2 and port it over to xbox. where as if they built it up on xbox, they'd have to re-do the game for ps2.
because by that stupid logic, they'd optimize xbox's hardware to get even more xbox sales. but face it, midway isn't financially good. they're taking the cheapest way possible to make a profit and in the process, screwing xbox owners. yes, i'm admitting it would be a risk building it up on xbox and re-doing it for ps2. it would cost midway some money. but at the same time, fighting games sell good on xbox too. sc2, mkda, doa3. so maybe the risk would be worth it. maybe not. but in the end, midway is taking the "safe" way which is smart for them. but is annoying. everything ps2 can do, xbox can do better.

who the fu*k are you quoting when you say "special treat"? i agreed that xbox is more powerful, but there are far MORE sales on the ps2....so f - you and deal with it. Ps2 will not have the BEST copy, xbox will still. But ps2 owners wont feel so inferior, and we shouldnt. We are the majority of fans.

But that logic also would alienate Xbox owners. Because Xbox owners will argue, if the console is that much better why not tap into it's full potential, instead of having a PS2 game on Xbox? I just want the game to be the best it possibly can be.

this is not a console war...someone came in and posted "according to my source, ps2 will be the base of operations and from there xbox will be coded....blah blah blah"
I have a ps2...however i have no problem saying that the XBOX is better, faster, and overall a better machine, cuz it is.
IMO the games will be identical, IDENTICAL. except that the xbox will be a little sharper, and run at a higher frame rate ( just a guess ).
It is easier for midway to produce for the ps2 and then shift it over to xbox to run with a higher res. and frame rate. Thats obvious. BUT we dont know if they are doing this for sure. So in the mean time we can only wait and see. Noone is getting left out, cept cubers.

why the fuck do you spell it fu*k? anywho i was quoting your "rewarding", said it out loud, then i said special treat, and then quoted that. but it all began with the rewarding comment.
"f-you" HA HA HA. offended much, fanboy? ps2 owners should feel inferior. 3rd party developers should use the best hardware to make games. they're not stuck with exclusive rights to any console. ubisoft is smart and makes their games on xbox, then ports later. they sell the same amount on both systems because of that. ps2 owners will take anything. if midway were smart, they'd do the same to sell an equal amount on both systems (well over a million). but they're playing it safe and just pleasing one crowd. which i admitted is a good move. but annoying. fact. deal with it.

i spelled fuck fu*k because i was obeying the rules of the discussion...hehe
I guess this will go back and forth, and for no apparent good reason. whether you own a ps2 or a box your still getting one HELL of a game. So i dont care, all the shots i saw in PSM looked spectacular and thats good enough for me. I never saw DA on the box but i hear it was a little better.
I actually live in a house with a few other housemates and between us we have a box and ps2 so well prob play both.
ONE LOVE
PEACE!

actually menthos, when i first came to this site there was a post that microsoft was interested in buying out midway. If that is the case, in the future we can expect to see the franchise be exclusive to the worlds most powerful system.
But that might not ever happen, so in the meantime we have to make do. Sorry if the ps2 is a stick in your ass.

Lol.You guys expect Midway to do this then that then this. They are gonna do what they are gonna do so quit whining and moaning like little girls and be happy that MK Deception is being made.Who cares if one system looks better than the other. It's MK people...when did that not become enough?I'll play MK on a Atari 2600 on a 13 inch black and white screen!!!! period!!!The hardcore MKers know what I mean.Ps2 or Xbox version....get whatever makes you happy and enjoy the damn game.

apparently when midway said there going to advantage of each of hardware strength i guess it's all lie then, if Mobster4Christ source is true. midway better get there priority straight instead of saying things like that, just like they did for mkda. midway shouldnt be sayings like that and not go through on them. if there not going to take advantage of the consoles strength, they should at least retract there statements. all there doing is misleading the public with that info. let's be more civil...enough with the console bashing
