As much as I would like this theory to end up being true, I understand it's extremely unlikely. But what can I say, I'm a dreamer.
My theory is that Kabal is merely assembling the Black Dragon under the notion of becomming the strongest criminal establishment in the world, when he's really just trying to create a temp army(no pun intended) that will decimate the Red Dragon, and thereafter he'll hand this "Reformed Black Dragon" right into the hands of the special forces. The reason he sent Kira to fight in the outworld was so that she would be oblivious to his clandestine alterior motives. Hell, he probably took kind to her "disciplined nature" because she would be easier to control/manipulate.
Ah, the beauty of copy/pasting my old posts. Ah...

That is a very specific theory. In the end, we find find truth in it or deception in it. (no pun int.)
But, I think your theory makes sense, and could happen. I would like it, but I just dont get why Kabal went bad again: at least this is a proof that MK isnt all happy endings: good guys wins and bad guys die.... this is what i like about MK; so many characters all evolving differently and being involved a lot (*except Kai*) in the storyline.

I always thought that Kabal wasn't up for being a member of the Black Dragon anymore. I think he has something up his sleeve besides just being another member or leader. I think you are on the right track with his plot twist. I really hope they do something cool with Kabal.

Actually I had another, admittedly far-fetched and specific theory: what if Kabal is really dead, and Mavado is just posing as him? In that way, he would control his potential rivals forever, or could destroy them from within. That sounds exactly like something Mavado would do.
But then again, it's hard to understand why he would put so much effort into reconstructing an org he wanted to destroy :).
Or, he wants to keep the Special Forces perpatually busy with the Black Dragon, so they never find out what the Red Dragon is.
Cheers,
VQ

So let me get this straight. You criticized my theory under the point that it's stupid, yet you can't defend this point whatsoever? k.

Cabal + MK's love for changing "C" to "K" = Kabal. Cabal means "Plot", I have a feeling that Kabal is possibly playing puppet-master with Kira & Kobra. I think this because (SPOILERS) in Kobra's ending, It had Kabal telling Kobra to be patient and let their enemies handle things. (END SPOILERS) But never said who their enemies were... And i don't know about you, But Kobra looks pretty goody-goody, Even if Kira doesn't. And speaking of Kira, Why exactly is Kabal having her prove herself by going against the Dragon King? Which is another reason i believe Kabal is playing puppet-master.
Or maybe i'm in denial... I remember the MK3 ending picture of the vagabond walking alone in the desert, Swearing to fight injustice. And that's what i think of Kabal when i see him. I don't want that to change!

The theory seems a little too far fetched to me. Besides it says Kabal likes the new discipline in the Black Dragon... besides if I remember the only reason he left the black dragon was because he didn't like Kano... and now Kano is dead. I don't remember him ever being good just sort of neutral. Plus.. why introduce two new characters to the Black Dragon if you are gonna just use Kabal to destroy them so to speak in the end anyways?
Oh, and one last thing. I am guessing the deception in the game is gonna have to do with Mileena since thats what shes all about anyways. I don't see why most people don't think that.

I think it's a pretty cool idea. It would make alotta sense... Kabal could still totally be fighting in justice, like you said, take out the red and black dragon, would be a good stat, plus he could provide another hurdle for the armies of the dragon king to step over.

In another post I posted something very similar to this, in that Kabal could be reforming the Black Dragon, because he has been so filled with rage (because of Mavado kicking his ass), he's developed a new clan to rival the Black Dragon. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kira leave the new Black Dragon and join the Red Dragon in the future. Maybe she already is an active member of the Red Dragon, but she's infiltrating the BD?
I also like the idea of Mavado being Kabal. That would be a good deception. Deception will be the theme of the game, simply because there is dying hope and a new tyrant threatening the realm. There will not be a single berayal or revealation.

Perhaps he was "critisising" my theory Temp. Don't be so selfish, I want some n00b love too!
I don't generally discuss theories with people who spell "fiction" as "friction", by the way, heh :D.

lol, I see the error of my ways. Actually, that theory isn't impossible. I wouldn't count on it, but it definitely would explain Mavado's absence.
Thanks for the all the replies, especially those who liked my theory. It keeps my writing, and for the most part, thinking.

Just a quick question, why does everyone want Kabal to be a good guy? He never really was, but everyone seems to be expecting him to be. I like the confirmation that he never went vigilante. It also gives more reason as to why Mavado would kick his ass.
Yeah, it is a good theory. I don't think its true, just because it is rather spisific, but its definetly interesting. I'm still pissed that Kabal isn't dead like they said he was in MKDA, but I figure that he was almost killed once, so what's one more time?
ehhhhh its an interesting idea. I dont like it to much though. He puts together a group of bad guys to kill another group of bad guys. then he turns his men in? its a cool idea but i would rather just see him be good if hes going after the red dragon. especially since the black dragon doesnt even have that big of a story.

Your theory, while highly possible, is not what I had in mind.
My theory is that he reformed the Black Dragon to take down Mavado and the rest of the Red Dragon. Kabal would want revenge after Mavado tried to kill him. Then maybe after Mavado and the rest of the Red Dragon members are dead, then maybe they will turn to crime and stuff. That's one of my theories...
Another theory is that Kabal, while being good, and Kira, while being bad, both wanted to take down the Dragon King, and they figured that the easiest way to take him down would be to work together. Raiden was good and worked with Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, and they happen to be evil. So you never really know. Well, not until we see the bio or buy the game.

I like the idea. Kabal manipulating others to decimate the Red Dragon. Very Anti-Hero. Something that I've loved to see in MK for a looong time. Very cool idea Temp.
