No they werent measyley per say but compared to kahn they were. Shang learned the black arts from the emporer himself. Or so certain people say. I might have missed it but where did it say it was COMFIRMED he survived the assassination? or did it even say that and we are just speculating?

Well, they took out Liu Kang too. And anyone who can take out Liu Kang is cheating.

But yeah, Sumo isn't worthless. If Kahn were to have a grapple-based style, I'd want it to be more throws than joint-locks.
I don't have an exact quote (at the time, I wasn't cataloguing everything the development team said...I am now) but I think Boon said something around E3 about Kahn playing a role in the storyline for deception. not a big one, just enough to let you know the Emperor was alive and...kicking?

The sub-boss is supposed to be Onaga... And I don't think Onaga = Shao Kahn, but we can't know as much we don't see pics...

Shao Kahn as sub boss is fine but they never let see endings of sub bosses and I want to see the endng of Shao Khan

See that is why I said we should form the MK Preservation League. Hopefully with this we can create a group that represents the interests of the series itself and the voice of the fans. Maybe we can get some attention and actually help addon or improve to our beloved MK franchise. Who knows...

Don't think for a second that Kahn would ever be a sub boss to anyone, that's just not his character at all.
