These are my 2 favourite characters! I'd Say Sonya would win

Kitana would kick Sonya's ass so hard Sonya's caracass would hit Earthrealm ground so hard it would kill everyone in the vacinity.

Kitana would win very, very easily.
Kitana is more than 1000 years old. She's been through rigorous and intense training, more than Sonya would dream of going through.
Kitana was once a personal asassin for SHAO KAHN. She must of defeated and conquered dozens of realms with him. Anyone working and training with Kahn for that long must be pretty skilled alright.
Kitana has also defeated Mileena a few times. Mileena is by far the most evil and vicious female out there, and Kitana is the only female that can actually stand up to her and put her down. And yet, Mileena could kick Sonya's ass anyday in the blink of an eye.
Kitana is a trained warrior and daughter of a powerful Queen. Sonya is just a Special Forces agent who can't even take down Kano or Mavado. Kitana would beat her in a fight very easily, no contest.

Who cares? This keeps coming up week after week just to start arguments between Kitana Sonya fans. How about something more current, like 2 characters that are actually confirmed to be in Deception.
Someone please move this to the classic forum as it has no basis in Deception.

Kitana is an amazing character. I love her. But she's not strong or quick enough to take out Sonya. The only way she would win is if Sonya was unarmed and Kitana snuck upbehind her and decapitated her. Sonya is the kombo kueen. She deals out great amounts of dameage and is quick in a fight. It would be one hell of a fight, but Sonya would win. As Kitana is too small and is more the st4ealth attacker like Mileena.

I definately think Kitana. I know some of you are going to bring up, oh but Sonya was Top Tier in MKDA blah blah. Who cares. Anyways Kitana would kick major ass. Yeah sonya is a respectable fighter but not as good as kitana. Kitana has had way more experience than sonya has..

I really liked what someone said in another thread about Sonya, so I will bring that up with my own words, but first, I will start by saying I don’t hate Kitana, but she is not my fave neither.
It is obvious who is the stronger of the two. Sonya has clearly evolved in power ever since Mk1. By each game she gets better and better. She has some of the most powerful special moves and most damaging combos.
*********GAMEPLAY***********
When referring to gameplay, she obviously takes the lead! She was Top Tier in Mk1, but not just top tier, she was the most powerful character in that game.
In Mk3 she was also top tier, and she returned completely improved. She was not only good in combos, but she also received many powerful special moves such as her vertical bicycle kicks and her famous leg grab.
Once again she proved her power in Mk4 with a new set of moves that included an air throw and some cartwheel kicks, also, she had a very damaging bone breaker. In this game, she has some of the most damaging combos of all the characters! Her leg grab was as good as ever.
This game had all her special moves: Weave Punch, Ring Toss, Leg Grab, Vertical Bicycle kicks, Cartwheel kicks, Air throw.
But her ultimate game is definitely MKDA. There is no doubt she was a true killer. She got 1 of the top 3 most powerful styles of the game, TKD, and 2 very powerful styles as well, included one of the top weapons of that game, Kali Sticks.
While she only returned with 2 special moves, her Kiss was enough to perform some very dangerous combos, and with her power up, she was unstoppable. Definitely in the top 5, and more then obvious, she was the strongest female out of all, and stood high above many male characters.
Sonya easily WINS when it comes to gameplay abilities. No other female is as powerful as she is (of course, we need to see the rest in MKD).

Here is where I agree with Kitana fans, when I say Kitana HAS a HIGH possibility of wining.
Kitana is NOT even close to being a bad fighter (storywise), she has potential and power. There is no doubt. Like someone well said, she was trained to be an assassin and worked for Shao Kahn. There is no doubt of Kitana’s power.
But Sonya has something that puts her very high, just as equal or above Kitana, she IS the CHOSEN female of the earth realm. Now this is serious business. Out of all the warriors of earth, she was chosen to represent Earth in Mortal Kombat! (this is the part I liked someone said)
Sonya definitely has the power to take any earth warrior and any Outworld warrior single handed. The fact is, that she is the chosen female warrior, obviously, the strongest female of earth. She is tough as a fighter thanks to her military training, she represents the ultimate female power of the side of GOOD.
Sonya Blade hasn’t survived this long for nothing. And just like Kitana, she has faced many terrible adversaries ever since her arrival to the tournament.
They are equal when it comes to battle techniques. Both are strong, both are fast, both use their minds, both can win.
But fully basing story wise and gameplay wise, I say Sonya wins.

Okay.. I'll give my opinion.
I love both Kitana AND Sonya, and both are very brutal.Game wise, going by DA standards, Sonya would own Kitana unless the Princess has her fans.. hoo boy, then Sonya better watch out. If it's simply hand to hand combat we're talking, both are skilled in that area. Kitana has thousands of years experience over Sonya, but that doesn't mean Sonya is a slouch, either! Kitana's method of fighting is slower paced, whilst Sonya's is faster. Both methods are more defensive, and are the types of styles to wait for an attack rather than simply strike.
However, in this I will have to say Kitana. Plus, now she's under the DK's influence, there would be no holding back and Sonya would be no match.
This is coming from a Sonya fan, here people. No bias here.

She could had never stayed as the No1 TOP character in every game!!! Besides, Mk1 is so different from Mk3, and Mk3 is nothing like Mk4, and Mk4 is definitely NOTHING like MKDA.
She has improved a whole lot. Thats a fact. MKDA is her best game yet.

Gameplay wise Sonya easily wins, especially in DA... Storyline wise... Who cares? =/

Kitana. Fans or no, Kitana would beat ass a hundred times over. She's ages old. There is no way Sonya would beat her. I am speaking strictly of the MK story, not who can beat who at whatever game. That depends entirely on the player.

Wrong. I dont want to argue and start a war, but I can tell you, Kitana is great in MKG because of her fan throw, it was cheap in that game, but when trapped in a combo, she is weak and very vulnerable.
Ask MrKung himself, he knows best all about this. And she was not good in MKU/MKT.
