if we're talking strictly games and tiers here. DEFINITELY Sonya. Kitana's fighting styles in DA could have done her more justice.

Sonya is just a cop. Cops are trained to subdue, shoot, and arrest people. There main job is not to kill anyone unless necessary. Kitana on the other hand has skills of an assassin. They are trained to sneak, kill, and eliminate thier targets.
Kitana would kick Sonya's butt nice and quick, unless Sonya was able to get a shot off first, in which case Sonya would win.

Gameplay-wise- depends on whose playing.
Storyline-wise- I say Kitana. Firstly, Kitana was trained by evil people to be a cold-blooded killer. She was specifically trained "this is how you kill your opponent dead in the worst possible way." Add into she was trained to fight Shokans, Centaurs, mutants and who knows what other freaks live in Outworld. She's 10,000 years old so she spent at least half her life training and the other half fighting.
"How do we know 10,000 years in Outworld is the same as 10,000 years on Earth?" Well, call me crazy, but until they give us a reason to question it, which they haven't, I see no reason to deny it.

Kitana's only flaw is she's been going more and more soft since she turned good.
Giving Sonya all the credit in the world, she has some years experience and elite military training, I still think Kitana has the edge. Sonya beat Kano....but then so did Li Mei. And Kitana killed Mileena, and call me crazy, but I hold Mileena in higher esteem than Kano.
And Sonya may be a "chosen hero" but then again, so's Johnny Cage (who died), Liu Kang (who died), and Stryker ('nuff said) among others.
Also, this is just me, but I don't buy Sonya as a "killer." Kitana was once an evil assassin, so I can buy her at some time being someone who'd kill you just to watch you bleed (although she's gone soft as I said). Sonya seems to goody-goody to me. That's just my interpretation of her though.

great post from a decent kitana fan! i liked your views and opinions. I do agree that kitana is a great fighter, but not as strong as sonya. we know there are many chosen ones, but sonya is, by far, the only chosen female warrior, ever since mk1. this makes her a powerful and important character.
kitana has died btw, that sucked. i wish she would had never been brought back to life.
