Why do you think so? Looks, fighting style, etc? Please be more specific when starting a thread.

Your only excuse is that Ken and Kobra like karate and Mitsurugi and Hotaru are samurai? Get your facts together. This is retarded and lame. WOW good theory.

appearance would have to be the main reason for me starting this thread; but also i had recently thought of how MK was the only fighting game still going strong from these early three and then i looked at these two characters. Lame thread i know but i thought what the hell lets see what other people think

Hotaru doesn't really look like anybody else from any other game, however Kobra seems to be kind of a tribute of sorts to other fighting game characters.
His hooded costume is like a mix of Jin Kazama's from Tekken and Goh's from Virtua Fighter, and of course you can't forget the obvious physical similarities between him and Ken Masters from Street Fighter.

I thought Hotaru looked more like Yoshimitsu, what with the flags!!
j/k
I can see where you are coming from, but there aren't too many different ways to portray a world karate champion and a samurai, really.
OK I'll let him get proof.

I believe the tekken character's name is Yoshimitsugrin
as for the appearance, it is true that they resemble, but, if we look at every fighting game, there are some characters that looks like other game characters. I think it's not a question of borrowing or stealing, but of course it's not something very original. In japanese manga(comic books) those resemblances happen a lot
specifically for Hotaru and Yoshimitsu, they look alike, because the armor they wear is a japanese pattern from the Edo period.

Mitsurugi is from Soul Caliber, not Tekken.

In the PS2 version of Soul Calibur 2 They borrowed Yoshimitzu. He is in SC2 and even has the proper name, but the gayest look ever. Soul calibur is the gayest fighting game ever. NO Blood. lol. I like tekken.

and Mitsu is from Soul Calibur, just FYI, which isn't really all that old of a game if you're going to compare it to street fighter and mortal kombat. I think the first one came out in 96?

I don't like this kind of generalizations. They're ridiculous.
