Ooh, cool, I love the idea of Cage hiding his eyes with his sunglasses.

Another idea for any other character that's got a so-so story. Perhaps he/she can be bitten by Nitara?

Cage is going to be in this next game regardless of anything, but I sure do hope that the developers have johnny cage make you do stunts for a movie movie in Konquest mode and reward you with a special move.

Johnny Cage will find himself in the mission to discover who he really is, what haunts him, what is it that he has the Dragon King wants so bad, what are the powers he conceals inside his soul, and how to help his friends without putting them in more mortal danger. Discovering the secrets behind his death...and resurrection. WOW, great idea... I've never was able to put my finger on how to get Cage's storyline going but you nailed it in the balls like his split punch, really great ideas, I was the one that stated Johhny Cage never revealed his eyes after he died, and that mysterious pale white eyes thing is really good. This could change everyones perspective on his character and which would make him just as mysterious as Scorpion. I don't think it is too late for Cage's story to change, I like the idea that he gets those visions and that causes him to stop the whole acting thing and concentrate on a much more bigger situation such as the Dragon King, his whole attitude would change and a new aura could be placed around this character. And as I said before, I don't think Cage is afraid of anything anymore, he already knows what death is like and he has another change on earth. If i had died and come back I would use that knowledge to my advantage also.

It's also funny that when MK wasn't "MK" yet and it was slated to be a game based on the movie "Bloodsport" Johnny Cage's character was simply going to be Jean Claudde Van Damm but he didn't want to do it. What if MK went in that direction and never was MK?!

We can't fathom it but it's funny to know Johnny Cage was going to be JCVD.. lol

Johnny Cage is such an awesome character his story is getting weak, so anything to shake it up a bit would be OK with me as long as we can play as him in MK:Deception.

I PERSONALLY THINK THAT EVERYTHING ABOUT JOHNNY CAGE HAS BEEN PLAYED OUT TO ITS FULLEST EXTENT POSSIBLE, LET HIM GO DOWN IN MK HISTORY INSTEAD OF BRINGING HIM BACK TIME AND TIME AGAIN, MAKING THE STORY EVEN MORE MONOTINOUS. Like i said before, I dont care about Cage but I do admit he is a great character.

I think he should be in deception since he is one of the most important classics, or maybe just let him rest in that game and bring him back with a better story.

your ideas for revamping Johnny Cage's story are really good, his character has so much potential and it aggravates me that this is overlooked by the development team. Cage is clearly one of the all time great classics of the game, he also had some of the best special moves and fatalities. all he needs is a deeper storyline and he could be a big player in this new game. however i keeep hearing rumors from people in this board who claim they have inside access to the game that Cage will not be returning. i think classic characters are vital to games of this genre, if you flood the story with new participants it definitely takes away from the experience in my opinion. the reason Mortal Kombat is so popular is because of the classics. Cage and Sonya are definitely 2 characters that need to be in this game. anyway, queve, great thread, intersting ideas, too bad we wont see something similar implemented for the character.

Wow, nice response. You are totaly right about that. I have a theory why the classic Earth characters are probably not going to be in this next game, look out for a post in the future on that.

thanks grizzle, its a shame that people have the impression that classics like Cage have run their course. if anything the game achieved its popularity because of them. if you think about it most of the new characters thrown into the story after MK2 have been very forgettable. who knows, im sure deception will do well regardless but i dont think it will have the same feel without classics, Cage especially because hes one of my all time favorites.

If the name was changed, it would be his real name. Johnny Cage would be his Stage name.

To keep up with the times, maybe he was cloned without his knowledge and an evil version is made of him.

I posted this character idea for Cage somehwere else, but I don't remember where so I will rewrite it here from scratch.
We all believe that when Rayden ressurected Johnny Cage to rejoin the fight against outworld, that he found the right soul to go to the right body. But what if when Rayden brought Cage back, he found the wrong soul.
Let's say Rayden got a whole other warrior's soul, a warrior that holds allegiance to the Dragon King.
He's been hiding out in Cage's body since his ressurection as a sleeper agent so when the Dragon King returns, he will reveal who he truly is and attack and destroy Rayden's forces.
Meanwhile, seeing how Cage's soul never found his body, it was left in the astral plane and then sent to outworld, where it eventually found it's way to a body.
A body of a ninja......
A great new start to Johnny Cage, completly new body, old and new moves. Oh and after he kills the impostor, he can get his glasses back.

Excellent idea man! That is a great story for Cage and would be great to see,! Although Raiden is my fave character and I'm 100% sure he would not make a mistake like that! EVER!

i definitely like the idea of him hiding something behind his shades, white eyes would be perfect. i believe that it would be great to suggest that Cages resurrection came at a cost, that part of his humanity is still missing and that the only way hell reclaim it is if he is victorious in battle against a certain foe. i think that would give his character purpose and make him a focal point in the story. nothing has to done about him as a fighter, hes already one of the best in the game.
