The facts (why it IS Li Mei)

-Her outfit in the OPM screen is VERY similar to that of Li Mei's outfit in MK:DA.
-We've already seen two picks of Mileena in two different outfits where she is clearly wearing pink
-Now we've seen two different images of a woman wearing purple
-The woman wearing purple is NOT wearing a mask, unlike the woman wearing pink (whom we already know to be Mileena)
-MK games have never had that many outfits for characters, so it's somewhat safe to assume that Mileena will get two or three, and this other character will get two or three

The facts (Reasons why it's NOT Li Mei):

-The MK team wouldn't put two characters in that are so obviously similar clothes-wise
-The MK team wouldn't put two characters in that have the same weapons: Sais
-The MK team changes the looks of characters from earlier screens to later screens. (Scorpion and Jax looked completely different in earlier screens of MK:DA than they looked when the game was released. Scorpion wore yellow early, then gold later. Jax had purple pants early, and a red baret later).
-They could've added more outfits for each character, especially since they're addinig more stuff to characters now that they have the MK:DA engine in place. Characters have more fatalities, moves, etc. Why not more outfits?
-It could just as easily be Kitana
-Li Mei never had hair like Sindel's opponent had in the OPM pic.

Now, knowing all of that, I'd have to say that I'm about 55% sure that the woman in that picture is Li Mei. None of us know for sure, we're all guessing here. But the outfit is very suggestive, as well as the fact that Mileena is wearing pink in her outfits, while this other maskless character is wearing purple. I'm about 40% convinced that it's Kitana, and about 5% convinced that it's Mileena, just with other outfits. I think the latter is highly unlikely.
But character concepts do change in the process, just like Scorpion and Jax changed through the process of MK:DA. So who knows.

Wow that was very comprehensive, I'm glad it's been put into the news section, and I think this controversy is exactly what Midway want!

I really hope it's not Li Mei, but how bad would it be if they made a new character that looked like all the other females fighters?

Back on topic,I think the girl in the OPM picture IS Li Mei.I wouldn't mind having Li Mei back,she was an alright character.

Well,they have to be tough.I mean they're fighting for their lives.If they were weak,they would be killed instantly by a stronger character like Scorpion.Although I do admit they do look very muscular.

What if the media deception Boon mentioned involves releasing screen shots with DA character models. IF the character is Li Mei they really haven’t revamped her look as much as they have with everyone else, since they’re using the DA engine how hard would in be to import DA character models for the odd screen shot?? I think until we get a solid confirmation we can’t solely rely on the pics because there really isn’t that much other info being release that we could be getting ‘deceived’ about.

Anyways it’s just a thought.

both of the pics with sindel fighting a female charctor in both mags to me looks like kitana in the 1st mag she has a head band on and in the second mag she has long hair.....at this moment im thinking that the mk team isnt sure who they want in the game either li mei or kitana... they can just change the color scheme to both costumes to blue and make it kitana or leave them as is and make her li mei.. i just think the mk team isnt for sure yet who she will be thats y they have not comfirmed either 1 yet.... i do believe konqrr.... im not saying ur wrong i believe u, im just hoping that they change their minds and make the female charcter kitana......

That's am interesting theory, I hope they make up their minds soon! I would prefer Li Mei over Kitana.

Well everyone knows here Li Mei is as cute as a butthole, plus the fact that she's hard for alot of people to beat when she's an NPC. Well, as for me, everything above goes, but I hope that it's Kitana and/or Sindel.

1- Like what Baraka said, they wouldn't have characters with such alike physical characteristics.

That is pretty much exactly what it is...right now, it IS Li Mei 100% no denying it...but they could change it at the drop of a hat.

um, I hate to start rumors but I think this chic in the pink could possibly be Tassia from MK special forces. She was a black dragon along side of Kano. But it can be possible that it is Li Mei or Kitana. that's just my thought. Or it can be someone completely new.

About the pic of sindel and the unknown person. I dont think its mileena. It has to be li mei or kitana which i doubt. I think kitana will give up the throne and leave due to the negative things happening in her life. So then sindel goes in search of kitana. jade hopefully becomes sindels bodygueard and helps her search for kitana because jade knows her the best. And mileena returns to edenia after hearing kitana left the throne and so baraka is jealous of mileena because of her power. So baraka deceives mileena.

I'm hoping it's NOT Li Mei. Really, really hoping. If Li Mei IS back, then that means it's likely that Kitana won't be back (with only 6 characters returning from MKDA, odds are against any one character returning...) Kitana is hands down my favorite character, so......... if it is Li Mei, I'm gonna be ticked. Especially since Li Mei was a fairly second rate Mileena rip-off in the first place (no offense to any Li Mei fans!) Bahhh. WORSE YET, if Kitana isn't a playable character, but Mileena and Sindel are, then most likely she's going to be dead. I'll probably cry if Mileena kills Kitana......... :( I know, I'm a dork, but what are you gonna do? So here's to hoping the girl in the picture is Mileena.

i think that pic with sindel kicking and the other woman is kitana cause kitana alternate costume in mk:da was kinda purple so im thinking kitana is in the game lei mei is dead anyway lol

In the trailer Mileena is using Li Mei's sai stance, so if they are both in the game it's Kano / Hsu Hao all over again.

Well it's not like they can't give Li Mei a different weapon. They could give her something like a chain whip or a spear.

Plus you have to reazlize that even if they develop a Kharacter, show pictures of her/him, it does not necessarily mean they will be in the final distributed version. Remember they are still developing this thing.

They might have to cut out characters for some reason: Not developed fully, not enough room on the disc, too glitchy or just play old bad. You never know.

More than likely they will release pictures of Kharacters that they intend to use in the final version.

So she's Konfirmed in the picture. That might be about it. who knows.

So the old character gets a new stance / weapon and the new character gets stuck with the old characters crap? That stinks.

And usually things like who will be in and who won't are decided before they start showing screen shots of them.

If that is Li Mei, and she's actually in a fight with Sindel then they've already gone as far as creating a new finalized model / outfit for her, and I doubt there's any "going back".

Personally, I think these games change all the time during production. We've seen pictures of Dairou (sp?) and other characters that didn't make it into MK:DA. Heck, we even saw someone (I believe Hsu Hao) in a picture in MK:DA, well into the development cycle, and his name was Khan. I remember people getting all crazy thinking that Shao Khan was back, and then his name was changed. If you don't remember what pic I'm talking about, he was fighting Scorpion.

Anyways, my point being that any of these characters can be in or out at any time. Personally, I don't know what to make of the woman in the OPM pic who looks like she's wearing a bicycle helmet and has a purple spot on her nose. It could be preliminary stuff, as someone wisely stated already.

Wow, You guys are blind... I toatlly think it looks like Sareena, from MK Tournament Edition, on GBA......
