Off topic...Hsu Hao is in my liking, but he is not in my top characters. People say that he is a cheap character, but I for one don't see that. I see Mokap as a cheap character. Just because he looks cheap with cheap moves, does not make him a crappy character. If I was able to, I would make him better.

What are you guys chatting about - even though this is old post bought back from the dead. I can honestly say Liu Kang is one of the best Characters in the game. Taking him out of the game would be like taking Ryu out of Street Fighter - He is quite possibly one of the main figure heads in MK.

Personally i feel Scorpion is overrated - he's not that good, people love the fact hes a ninja but i personally think Shaolin Monks are waay cooler. Sub Zero i prefer his classic look - this new stuff just doesn't dig it for me.

Seriously though, you can't judge yet who will be in the game - I only hope Liu Kang will make his return, MKDA was spoilt because of his departure and the horde of crappy newcommers. Also if you look at Tekken - they kept Law (Very similar to Liu Kang) in all the games bar one - where his son took his place. I personally don't think Liu Kang will be taken out of the game.

Scorpion is awesome because of his moves, storyline, and fatalites. MKSM only made Scorpion more bad ass because of how he used his spear as a chain whip (or whatever they call it in Wu Shu). It's NOT because he wears a ninja outfit. That's silly.

How is Scorpion's storyline awesome when it has been retconned into extremely linear, 1-dimensional garbage? MKSM didn't make Scorpion more bad ass. It made him more of a joke by showing just how much of an incompetent jerk he's been turned into.

To Wu-TangStyle: That's your opinion, but I personally can't agree. Liu Kang was a relatively bland character based off of a stereotype. He was a poorly-developed and piss-poor protagonist who really didn't change much. I felt that his death was needed, but his return was a mistake, imo. For him to die and then return in the next game (even if he isn't whole yet) really takes out the impact of his death. And besides, I prefer Kung Lao.

Liu Kang an icon of the series..? I'll eat my hat! While he was the "main hero" of the story....well, that's all he was. As Sub-Zero_7th already stated, a piss-poor protagonist, uninspired creation, poorly developed, bland, and all-in-all...a mediorce character at best. The only thing good about him was he was easy to use...personally though, I never used him....and his dragon fatality. Killing him off was one of the best things they could've done for the series. "Taking him out is like taking Ryu out of Street Fighter." No. You can say that about Sub-Zero and/or Scorpion, but Liu Kang..? My ass.

Speaking of which, Scorpion was good until they made a total trainwreck of his story and character. Now, he really is just an overrated joke. And no way Shaolin Monks made Scorpion even more bad ass. Everything that is bad and wrong about Scorpion was proudly broadcasted in MK:SM.

I just insinuated that i dislike those 2 characters and have an overall preference to Liu Kang. And yeah - while liu kang is piss easy in D and A. he was a decent character from 1-3, not 4 though - that whole game was a complete cock up.

im on a fine line with lui kang. i like him but yet hes getting old. if he comes back they should change his character up...i dunno make him a vampire or like what was said before...a new mentor like raiden.

When I say MKSM made scorpion bad ass, I'm talking about the cool moves and him saying "Get over here bitch" or "get the fuck over here."

Can't really say it ruined him, since MK:SM is largely non-canon...but pretty much everything I've come to hate about Scorpion was emphasized throughout that game.

A mindless, rampaging drone, who does random things for little-to-no logical reason...only to get his ass kicked for it. Portrayed as a villain even though: A) Scorpion's neutral...and B) even then, he usually leaned towards the good side. Yet despite this, I'm still supposed to think he's this "bad ass wild card" just because he has a flaming skull head and wears spikes & skulls on his clothes.

I preferred the Scorpion who actually had some sense on honor in what he did...and had some semblence of discipline and actually thought about what he was doing.
