if you had a chance to read the new article on MK:D at Gamespot, then chances are you came across a section that mentions something about a Red Dragon Temple arena. I was sure that Mavado was going to make it into this game after the MK team revealed more than 75% of the character roster. and then after finding out that there was only one more character slot left for the returning MK:DA roster, i was sure Mavado's chance of returning were slim to none. but surely enough, after reading that article, i know theres a good chance of Mavado returning. Mavado was one of many MK:DA characters that had a very intriging storyline, but what made it stand out from the rest was that it interwined with the Lin Kuei. if Mavado makes it into MK:D then this can surely lead up to something big with Sub-Zero. Maybe something dramatic, like a climatic death of one of the clan leaders? all i know is that Mavado has a giant fan base, (come on i know most of you think Mavado is cool) and it would be kind of stupid to leave out a character that shows a large amount of potential. anyways, what are your thoughts on Mavado? should he be left out or should he be one of the main antagonist in MK:D?

i hate mavado. if he thows w/ sub i hope sub kicks his ass. mavado doesnt have many moves, and the only decent moves are more or less in his weapon stance. when i see ppl play him they always end up doing the same move over and over. i think that is cheap.

but if you like him, to each his own.

I didn't like Mavado at all with his Inspector Gadget go go stretchy grapple move.
I couldnt care less if he came back or not, dont get me wrong i'm not a hater but I could think of other people to come back, I'd rathe rather have Kano over Mavado.

Mavado needs a huge overhaul if he is going to be in deception.

damn... i thought a lot of people liked mavado.
wow

hahaha, anyways, yes mavado's move set and fighting style were garbage and his fatality was just plain stupid, but if you look at it from a story point of view, i think its safe to say he has a lot of potential. hopefully he makes it in because he was one of my favorite characters despite having a lack of combo's and power to back it up. and yes, his combo's for his hook swords were fucking cheap. hopefully he does recieve a brand new look and moveset to boost his credibility. The MK team was right on track when they created a antagonist for the Black Dragon Clan but they failed to make him a stellar and memorable character.

I think Mavado's design is pretty cool, and storyline wise he's not too bad, but in actual gameplay he fails miserably. I didn't like neither Wing Chun nor Long Fist, and his bungee cord attacks were ridiculous as well as out of place.
I have mixed feelings about Mavado, but I think what ultimately makes me lean towards not liking him, is how his storyline could only be played out at other charaters' expense. For instance, I've always really liked Kano, so naturally I hate the fact that introducing the whole Red Dragon thing reduces Kano from the crimelord we knew from MK1 to some sort of lowly goon, not to mention that Mavado apparently killed Kano at the end of MKDA.
So I guess I would've liked it alot better if Mavado'd died in MKDA, or if he'd just retained a rivalry with Kano or something - but that brings up the question of redundancy; most people seem to agree that Hsu Hao was a worthless filler charater as not only was he uninteresting, he also died before accomplishing anything important! I'm sure Mavado would've been held in equally low regard if he'd died in MKDA. And if he would've gone the rivalry route, his storyline would have the same problem as Sonya's; it pretty much consists of "he/she wants to kill Kano".

With that out of the way, I'd like to say that with the Red Dragon Temple level, as well as MKDA's story, it would make sense for Mavado to return. There are lots of characters I'd rather see than Mavado, but on the other hand I do think he deserves the character development that being in MKD would bring (as would Frost and Nitara, but I guess that's beside the point). If he makes it, it's going to be very interesting to see what they'll be doing with his storyline.

Mavado rocks. They just need to do a few minor design tweaks and perhaps expand some of his unarmed combos.

But hookswords was *da bomb* in MKDA... People who say he sucks obviously never faced a good Mavado player.

So yes, I like Mavado. I think he's great! :)

I just remember seeing that first sketch of him, and thinking "omg this game is going to be great"...he has such potential, and if I could have hime back for Deception I'd gladly welcome him back.

Mavado's cool, you gotta love his long leather mantle. Sure, his stances were pretty crappy but his kooswords still rule and he's rather brutal with them (which is cool grin).

Storywise, there are a lot of options for Mavado. He can focus on continue to bring down the Black Dragon clan or he can try to destroy the Lin Kuei (this would also give Sub a reason to return)

So I say, let Mavado return!

Well, if you think destroying the entire Outworld Investigation Agency something unimportant, I guess you're right. *cough*

Mavado has pently of things to do in mkd.
1. Destroying the black dragon. Now they have a new black dragon member, this should be interesting.
2. Rivalry with the lin Kuei. Mavado is more likely going to try and take out sub-zero, or someone brought up an idea that him and sektor work together in destroy the lin kuei.
3. Most people will enjoy having kabal and Mavado duking it out. I loved to do, because my cousin a kabal fan, so i bust his chops.

I would really like for him to return. He is one of my favorite new mkda characters.

Mavado is one of my favourite characters in the MK series. Like people have said, there is plenty for him to do, and special moves can easliy be improved, look at how Reptile progressed. If he comes back, I'll be the happiest guy on this forum.

Mavado wasn't exactly one of my favorites from MKDA. Maybe because I saw so much unfulfilled potential. His Longfist style blew chunks, he needed more special moves and his fatality was the worst!! But I found both Wing Chung and his hookswords useful. Plus, if all characters in MKD do indeed get six moves and two fatalities, then that solves one of his major problems. Now I guess the only thing that remains to be determined is who gets the hookswords. I doubt it will happen, but I would be open to seeing Mavado in MKD.
The potential is there.. but I don't mind his return or not.

I've said it before; it would make absolutely no sense for them to introduce a completely new clan in one game, and forget about them in the next. With Kabal being back, Mavado having stolen his hookswords, the presence of Kira, a Black Dragon clan member (maybe) and there being a Red Dragon temple, I can't think of any reasons as to why he wouldn't be in the game. I have a feeling that if he's not playable, he will be a very important backstage character with strong influences on the storyline, like the Dragon King in MK:DA. We'll probably see him in one or more endings, if that's the case.

i dont know why but i think kabal faked his death and joined sides with the red dragon just to fool kano... even though kano and kabal never met during the events of MK:DA, but it would be kind of a shocker to see kabal turn on his former clan. it would make sense why mavado had the hook swords to begin with. but if its the over way around as in kabal thirsting for revenge, it will end with someones death for sure... which is not really a bad thing but more dramatic adding more depth in the mk world. anyways, i hope kabal comes back with a new set of hook swords that look more menacing. as for mavado, i hope he keeps the swords as well, but with a different movelist and appearance than kabal's swords.

IMO Mavado is one of the best new characters ever, i think hes awesome. Great story, and he has one of the most coolest desgins, as well as his alternate. Hes definately bad ass. The only thing that absolutely sucked about him was his styles, fatality, and lack of special moves. If he makes it in MKD, hopefully all this will be improved on or changed.

Also, I didnt like how Mavado had the hookswords. They belong to Kabal, its like his signature trademark. With kabal returning, i very much hope hes the only one with hookswords. Mavado should have something else IMO.

Mavados chances of returning in MKD are very high. Maybe he wont make it on the selection screen, but perhaps you can still choose him with a button combination or such. Mavado PWN3Z.

I could not agree more. Mavado is one of my top 5 characters in MK:DA, if you don't like him, or think he's too unplayable, I say you're not using him right.

Every character in MK:DA has more than enough potential and firepower to be a very formidable opponent. Even if some were under-done (Mavado) or over-done (Frost, Scorpion)
