I like the biography; I expected very little coming from Jarek, so hey, this is more than what I thought he'd get. tongue Anyway, time for me to over-analyse it!
First off, it shows that Jarek wasn't with the good guys throughout the war against Shinnok. Second, it shows that unlike Kabal, he decided not to go back to his Black Dragon roots after his miraculous survival. Third, it shows that Jax is a murderous son of a gun; given that Jarek makes no reference to Sonya, it could only mean that the MK4 ending never happened, and that Jax threw him off without the grand motivation he did in said ending. Jarek talks about hiding from him, not fighting him, not threatening him; could this mean that Jax was going to kill him for no reason at all, other than the fact that he was a Black Dragon, especially since he chose to help Eartherealm in that war? I think that alone proved that he was different from the other members, who ended up going the evil route.
The sword into the cliff... Reminds me of something that I saw in the third Aladdin movie there, where the guy descended the cliff with his claws by digging them to keep him close to the cliff. Anyway, reminded me of that.
His desire to hurt everyone the same way he was is a case of his wanting to inflict the world with the pain that he felt, which may have been completely unjustified. Keep in mind, he's desiring revenge on his BETRAYER. Who could that be? Maybe he considered Jax an ally while in the war, and as he made his escape felt betrayed that Jax set out to actually kill him.
He's clearly gone nuts now, as he desires revenge on everyone... Nobody cared about him... Nobody set out to find him, they all just thought he was dead... After helping out the Earthrealm warriors in the war, he was almost killed because of an Earth warrior, and not just any Earth warrior, but an upholder of the law, which should've only detained him until a fair trail, but he was judged to die without so much as a second thought from Jax. Jarek sided with Earthrealm, but he was betrayed by his own realm; I say that's as good a reason as any to be fixated on killing everyone in his path.

Jerrod, thats actually a pretty awesome way to view Jarek.

While I still feel this bio is very disappointing and lacks originality when compared to the rest we have gotten (and to Mks overall quality standards anyways), I admit I enjoyed reading your post and seeing the bio in a better light for Jarek.

If only they would had been more clear in those parts and mention them in the bio, then it would had been better....all we are doing is assuming good stuff in something that was not really that good" though, oh well...

Sonya's involvement wasn't canon apparently or she survived somehow or assumed since she's obviously still alive.

I don't see the big deal personally given how she's a good fighter, a well trained special forces agent she could have survived and obviously did somehow.

I mean if you want to get INSANELY technical, the jump was never confirmed in the first place yeah it's a cliff....whoopy doo it could have been a 30 foot drop or a 60 foot one and there could have been water beneath meaning she could have swimmed onto shore somewhere.Right?

Ooooookay, when I first read the bio I thought "ok so the red dragon rumors were false and this dude just barely survived by pulling some stunt that I seen in the 3rd Aladdin movie and now this guy is obsessed over some shit that everyone in the MK universe can do. What a shitty bio.: After reading a few posts I'm thinking, how the fuck did Sonya survive if according to Jax's ending AND Jarek's MKA bio that Jax tossed this dude off the cliff. So was Sonya there or did MK just pull off a negligent move regarding the storylines.....again? Out of all the bios I read so far, this one would be Night Court 5th season lame.

We know Jax threw Jarek off the cliff, but nothing proves it was exactly like in Jax ending... Sonya wasn't maybe even here... So why all this whines about a supposed but not proven retcon?

Hitting water from a height that Jax was supposed to have dropped Jarek from would be almost like hitting concrete.

What can I say about this bio? Boring, lackluster and cheesey. Anyone saying that they weren't expecting much from this bio, because Jarek's a throwaway character, is totally missing the point that whoever's doing the stories(Vogel?), had the opportunity to change that. So much more could have been done than him becoming a sociopathic maniac trying to perfect his fatalities. The fact that Jax got the better of him means he should've been trying to perfect his fighting skills.

I dunno. I just hope they don't muck up Shao Kahn's, Kintaro's and Reptile's bios.

I hopoe Moloch's, Reptile's, Ermac's, and Onaga's bios don't get mucked up like that. I'm gonna be more pissed than Cassleman was when he first heard that Sektor's fighting style in MKA was gonna be Kenpo (I think it was Kenpo but either way, the same fighting style as Kasumi's) if Moloch's bio is mucked up to that extent.

That's exactly what I was going to say. It'd be like hitting concrete. Then again, it's frigging MK. Kano has a laser eye, and we've got humanoid reptilian creatures running around. If they wanted him to survive that fall, they could have said he fell into a mine cart and not have to explain a thing.

I know they try to keep the fantasy stuff logical, but some of this stuff is so illogical in the fantasy sense that it's crazy.

I agree with Jerrod's view on Jarek upon re-reading the bio. It seems as if Jarek feels betrayed by the good guys. After all, he helped them beat Shinnok......and since obviously Jax's MK4 ending is confirmed to be canon, he felt like he was owed something - but instead he got what he got.

If you read between the lines and use your imagination, it seems as if maybe Jax and Sonya were secretly trying to nail Jarek all along during the MK4 wars.

But really, they place emphasis on a "betrayer" - somebody gave Jarek up. Obviously he doesn;t care who it was anymore, but I think it will come up again. I think John Vogel is going to reveal who it was in another bio. If not, then it's a shit bio. Cause I think that's a bigger and better part of the bio. Searchin' for fatalities? Boo!

Looking at it that way, there may be hope for this guy yet. Nevertheless, though, he could've been given a better story.
