Thankfully, its not the official cover.
I was just making a thread saying this:
Well, check it out here:
Box Art, Logo and Info
While it obviously captures you attention to see Batman facing Sub-Zero, I think there could had been more original ideas for the cover...like doing a decent use of various little characters in what would look like an apocalyptic battle.
But I guess that wasn’t possible to reveal yet since we only know of a few confirmed characters.

If that is the cover, still looks pretty good and is rather appropriate.
Either way despite which "MK vs. DC" character they go with, I'm sure I'll like it.
I think it's a lot better personally to have Sub vs. Bats, two very iconic characters of their respected franchises.

Its not that bad. Generic? Yes, bad? No.

Maybe they'll do like they did with Armageddon and have several covers each showcasing a different MK vs DC pair. For instance....
Sub Zero vs Batman
Scorpion vs Superman
Sonya vs Flash
Just a thought, and I'm sure I could come up with some better match ups than these once I knew the actual roster.

Sonya vs Flash? No, I can't picture that. If somehow Kabal makes it into the game it should be him and Flash. Sonya should look against another female character such as Catwoman or Wonder Woman (again if she makes it)

i hope that isn't the cover.

I dont think the cover is that bad at all. It gets the point across to the players or anybody passing buy it in the game store. Also, Im sure there will be different covers for special editions. Oh yeah, and lets not get worried about the cover...cuz the actual game is gonna be incredible.
