I have no idea why mk hasn't had intro sequences before a fight yet, since intro sequences have been a standard in fighting games for quite a few years now.

Intro sequences are a great oppurtunity to showcase the fighter's personality. Fatalities have always been the element that showcased the fighter's personality but since they are now gone, I think intro sequences are vital.

for instance, before Scorpion's fight, perhaps he ascends from Hell and breaks away from the ground below him. Or perhaps Batmans enters his way to the arena, by using his bat-rope before he starts to fight.

Bottom line, it's vital to showcase the character's personality to make the characters more believable and less bland.

The game also needs better victory poses, and facial animations to express the fighter's personality. As well as different screams for each fighter.

I think that would be too.... cheezy. Maybe taunts. That would be nice.

Yeah, I remember that. And yes, it was a good step. I just dont know why they haven't expanded upon it.

Character intros before a match would be great. It would give the characters more personality and actually enrichen the whole presentation.

The MK team should definitely takes some notes from games like Tekken, Def Jam and Marvel Nemesis. Heck, even from the DBZ Budokai games.

Some special triggered Intros would be great too. Like for example, when Scorpion faces Quan Chi, we get some personal banter how Scorpion will finally have his revenge on him.

Considering that Ed Boon plays other fighting games, you'd think he would already have added that to MK by now.

Well, he's probably too busy putting other crap in like Konquest mode and bad mini-games.

Boon already said there WON'T be any mini-games in MK8, if you watched the recent interviews

But I agree with KJ, it'll have something. I'm hoping we get some kind of "one fight sequence in Gotham between Sub and Bats, then they fight a little....then it'll go to Netherrealm or perhaps Outworld....show some other events happening/fights.smile

yeah it'd be nice. Maybe like have Sub and Batman asking each other who they are, what's going on, etc....then fight..then cutscene.

Batmans intro should pretty much be Nathans avatar. Gliding swiftly onto the arena, and landing in a badass pose.

I like the intro sequences in Smash Bros. Brawl were the character enters the match with a vehicle or teleporter of some kind.

However, I don't really like the ones in other fighting games like virtua fighter were the character just talks about how cool s/he is. Its kind of cheesy and it gets really annoying hearing the same monolog before each match. I usually just end up skipping these intros so realy whats the point in adding ?

The only intro that would suit me is as soon as scorpion sees superman, he rips his head off, and then a confused voice of Shao Kahn says: FATALITY? There done.

Personality.

Personality is a good point but, if they are all iconic characters then we already know thier pesonalities which is why I think they should just make them have their own individual entrances instead.

Intros are a nice touch to the game but, would it really make the game game a whole lot better? No.

Yeah, we know their personalities. The only way we learn of them though is though their background bios and endings. Otherwise they're faceless characters with no personalities that all like to kill people. Hell, they didn't even have separate winning poses that would at least give them a shred of individuality. At least not in the current-gen titles.

Having short character introductions like Tekken would help to explore their character traits. For example, we know Kano is a evil gang leader. But what else? What's his attitude? Is he a smartass, mastermind, cocky, cunning, what? Other than this specific person is good, bad, neutral, we don't really know all that much of their character traits.

Will you buy the game depending on if there are intros or not?

This thread isn't about whether we'd buy it or not due to Intro sequences. It's discussing how it would be a nice little addition to the game so i don't know why you're trying to pick a fight.

No it will not make the game any better to me. I mean i think MK needs to just stay away from the other games as much as possible.

No, that'll depend on the gameplay. Which means if it's anything like the last games this will get nothing more than a rental from me.

Anyway, even if Intros aren't the deciding factor, that doesn't mean they have to omit them. I like a game that has good mechanics as well as good presentation. There are many other games that manage to give us both. Why should MK be the only game that just gives a select screen full of fighters and is like "There, now go play."?

I'm just wondering if fans think they absolutely have to put intros in the game thats all. I'm not trying to pick a fight

So by asking if they will buy it or not depending on intros I want to know how badly fans want them in.
