Until you people knoe the diffrence between a fighting game and a shooter you wont be able to see how these numbers are just more than great .

Christmass is coming , DLCs are coming , prices are getteing cheaper and still you cant see the whole point .

The team has already started in MK9 thanx for the curent time to BLTZ and MK vs DC in the coming months .

BTW in my country only MK does stand as a fighter .Namco is just a crap where I live .

SC4 sold 3 times more than this in the 1st week, so this result really isn't that good. Let along great. Although it isn't that bad either. Just nothing special.

You are wrong !

SC 4 did not sell 3 times more than this in its first week and if so then give me your source .confused

In the given link I have read that the diffrence is only 70.000 copies and guess what ?

SC 4 does sell in japan but MK VS DCU doesnt in both Japan and Germany furious

PS: the diffrence is just 70 .000 copies when it was the fourth week for SC4 .so thats mean this game is just doing more than great .

"Denial". Not just a river in Egypt.

Soul Calibur IV sold 391,000 its first week for Xbox360; 303,000 for PS3. That's about 694,000 copies.

MK vs DCU has sold 140,000 copies its first week for Xbox360, 105,000 for PS3. That's about 245,000 copies.

..... yeah, while not quite 3x, it's pretty close. More like 2.5x. That's still a MASSIVE difference.

source: www.vgcharts.com

(of note, supposedly Street Fighter II HD has had 50,000 downloads already, so if that continues, it'll be about par for MK vs DCU's customer base, if not sales price, considering it's only $15.) At least it's marginally better than Virtua Fighter 5's sales, of about 150,000 (but it also made a nice profit in arcades in Japan.)

MK vs DCU still isn't selling in certain countries, so that's a factor as well (not a large one, but still).

Look, I understand fan-bias and optimism as much as the next MK fan, but you probably should stop throwing out random statements without checking up on them. Soul Calibur 2 outsold every MK game from the last generation. While it's true Soul Calibur 3 didn't sell as well as the newer MKs, that's likely due to the fact it was a Playstation 2-exclusive (a lesson they learned and learned well.) And Mortal Kombat IS sold in Japan. There's some pretty good Japanese MK websites out there too, such as this one.

I have no doubt MK vs DCU will sell well, but I don't think it'll be a massive blockbuster success. It'll just sell well. Nothing impressive, nothing to scoff at, but nothing compared to the triple-A titles swarming around it this holiday season.

I feel sorry for you.

It'll be interesting if Ed Boon has to reassure the MK fans (Shareholders, too) that the franchise is safe, soon.

I'm waiting for that press release, then I know Midway is in the shit.

I also feel sorry for you .

You are waiting the series to die but cant do anything but just seeing how the fans changed their mindes and bought the game .

In the end we know how Namco does sell it own craps.

Wait.... what? You've added 2 and 2 and have got 22.

You seem to mindlessly bash Namco when ever you get a chance. So lets make this simple:

I am not waiting for Mortal Kombat to die. In fact, I own MK Vs DCU now and it is fucking enjoyable.

All I have said, that it would be interesting if Ed Boon has to make a public announcement to say that the Future of Mortal Kombat is in safe hands. Because normally in those circumstances the opposite is true. The fact he hasn't said anything, yet, on the series own future is also telling.

The fact is Midway is on very shaky ground at the moment: Now, if this game meets sales expectations, all the better, especially seeing as MK Vs DC is a good game and to be honest, I would love the new 100% MK game to be made from MK Vs DC.

So, how does Namco sell its own craps?

Just do some research before you post something, especially when you're accusing somebody of being wrong. I didn't say exactly to the letter '3 times'. Perhaps I should have written "approximately" or "almost", but whatever. I didn't expect nitpicking here. Anyway, I see Garlador has already answered, so I won't bother typing the same. Although if you really want to be precise, just do the math:

Xbox360: 391/140 ≈ 2,79
PS3: 303/105 ≈ 2,89

Overall: 694/245 ≈ 2,83.

It's closer to '3 times' than 2, or even 2,5 to me.

And please stop with that fanboy attitude where you get all angry at everyone who says something bad about your beloved game, especially while you offend other games/companies/fans at the same time. It's nothing personal, so keep it cool.

I'd also like to randomly throw out that sales numbers are no measure of quality either. "Ben 10" for the Wii has sold over 2.5 million copies; that's sales numbers some games only dream about. But last time I checked, man, that game sucks.

And to think great games like ICO, Okami, Beyond Good & Evil, and Psychonauts got outsold by Jaws: Unleashed makes my brain hurt and my gamer spirit weep.

So true. But then I think I belong to an elite group of gamers who value masterpieces of games and I feel better wink

the reason that ben10 and jaws: unleashed are selling like this is because those are name brand products what little kid is gonna buy street fighter 4 or mk vs dc over ben 10 or hannah montana unlike midway and capcom all these greedy developers need is 2 months and the lisince to the ben 10 name

.... er, hasn't Mortal Kombat been selling on name brand alone for awhile now? Or did Mortal Kombat: Armageddon magically become GOOD while I was away?

But, yeah, it's name brand shovelware that robs more deserving games of sales and a fanbase. Though I do miss the days when name brand games were good. Remember those awesome Konami-developed Ninja Turtle games, or even that Aladdin platformer? Ah.... memories.

He has. It was awhile ago. I was there. Hard to believe, I know...

But I can empathize. One site I read said that being a MK fan is like supporting your local team during a losing season. They may have been good once, and they may be good again, and you're still a supporter and fan, but it's not exactly the best time to be a MK fan.

But I think we can all agree that, sales numbers, gimmicks, stiff animations, and goofy tight-and-cape wearing comic book inductees aside, we're at a much better place than we were when MK: Special Forces came out.... Oh God, my EYES!!!!

It is an overstatement that theese sales are bad. They are downright pathetic.

They're not pathetic for a video game and this game mark my words will sell way more then the previous few MK games.

Everyone had to know this game would sell despite how some may feel about the "crossover" is irrelevant at this point.

You're mixing two BIG franchises with similar atmospheres and special powered characters=big money from the start, nuff said

BTW, for the people that think these are "bad numbers" keep in mind Christmas isn't here yet not is the year over with and the comp is also way larger online compared to the previous MK games MKD and MKA by far....

It'll do very well when all said and done, you'll see.

It will do fine. I have no worries about the sales. Still, Midway can't keep relying on MK. Edit: Midway is defeated! Let's see what the future holds for MK.
