I guess MK vs DC is going to be the best fighting game of the year for the following reasons:
1- The new universal DC characters implementation, which is a huge/difficult step to be achieved by other fighting games.

1 - It's been done by MvC, so it's not gonna win MK a fighter of the year award.
2 - ....A flying Amazon Princess who can block bullets with the flick of a wrist fighting a a crazy soul stealing sorceror to save a universe where meta humans are everywhere, and another universes with many realms and mystical voodo crap going on everywhere. Much more realistic than two martial artists fighting in the streets. >_>
3 - Every good fighting game has this. It's not something that will make you the fighter of the year, it's a standard that you need to be considered fighter of the year.
Also, the game hasn't been released yet, why are we talking about awards? Besides, we all know SSBB is going to win every award, including fighter of the year, first person shooter, rpg of the year, racing game of the year, MMO of the year, Fucking awesome game of the year, year of the year, etc.
1 - Yes, but DC Universe is on top of them, like Superman! Batman, Catwoman...Also, you should take into consideration the Fatality risk that MK took with DC Universe characters, which might have screwed the MK or/and DC image.
2- I didn't mean the game play, I meant the realistic physical appearance of the characters that no other fighting game has it.
3- Yes, but most of the well-known fighting games make few changes, whereas MK vs DC made a huge change from story line, characters design, game play, etc.
so it must be a real fighter! right?
