The game to me has a real good chance to win if you ask me IMO I just believe if midway is smart with everything and Xbox live,Story mode, and the characters and realistic fighting is good I believe they can win it.

mk vs dcu has alot of things to offer. major changes have been made. things have been added.
what other game out there has what mk vs ecu has to offer?
close combat
free fall
rage
story mode ( it's like a game within a game)
dcu involved (who will not want to play as batman or the joker or any dc character?)
realistic
mk had create a fighter before sc4. nothing new
there are somany things to mention.
name something NEW that street fighter is offering?
what other games has what mk vs dcu has?
mk is all about being different and that's why I know that mk vs dcu will win in 2008 and 2009.
once again, what do these other games have to offer that hasn't been offered by mk?

- Close combat and Free fall combat = guessing game
- Rage - holding out judgement on that
- Story mode = bunch of cutscenes, does not make a good fighter
- DC characters = The simple fact it has DC characters does not make it a good fighter
- realistic = What? O_o
- mk had create a fighter before sc4. nothing new - Guess you never played SC3.
What are other games offering? Everything they had before, which makes a good fighter, and Midway didn't manage to include to this day.

so you are saying you rather play the same ol game with no changes? IMO that ould be bored and eventually have you begging for a change. oh, it had create a fighter before sc3 as well. lol.
what I am trying to say is, mk is aleast trying something different while other games are the same ol thing.
would you rather drive a 1999 cadillac escalade or a 2008 cadillac escalade

Here's the thing, the competition doesn't simply stay the same. SF3 wasn't SF2 just with a different roster. They added Parries, Super arts, Super cancels, escapes, EX specials, etc.
The basic gameplay is the same, but they add enough new things to deepen the experience.

SC3 came out in 2005 and MKA in 2006. But whatever.

Always trying new things, but never accomplishing to be a good fighter. That's why the competition doesn't take MK serious.

There are two major reasons this will not happen:
1) When Street Fighter IV is released the world will fawn all over it, hailing it as the greatest fighter in history. Even if Capcom scrapped their current designs and rendered it entirely in MS Paint, and if the game played only by mashing the start button repeatedly, it will be rated just shy of godlike by every fanboy journalist on earth.
2) MK vs. DCU is a joke. A bad joke. A joke so bad that if you told it to a retarded child he would stare at you until you felt uncomfortable, like you'd just crapped your pants while ballroom dancing.

I think it has high chances.
The game still sparks interest after the major shock and it looks like its *finally* working the way it should despite SOME things.
I can see SF winning though, not only because it will probably be good, but also because "its back". I wouldnt be surprised either.
Its just a question of whether it truly diserves it or not.

Well, yes, SF3 and SF2 are different, but don't forget there were like 5 SF2s before SF3...also...can we really count SF as fighting game of the year against MK vs DCU, when they come out in different years? Tatsunoko vs Capcom, if it comes out over here, won't be until 2009 at least, leaving SCIV, MK vs DCU, and some anime fighters, to my knowledge. Unless DBZ: Infinite Worlds, being the final Budokai game to come out for the PS2, takes all the improvements of B3, and revs it up a notch or two, SCIV and MK vs DCU will be the only contenders.
I think you guys are underestimating the stupidity of these awards and the people who vote for them and give them. Remember how many awards the past few games won? Remember how terrible those games were? And they went up against the likes of Tekken 5 and Virtua Fighter 4. MKvsDC, regardless of how terrible of a game it is, will win every award that native English speakers can give it, and if it can't, then awards will be invented to be given to it (which I believe actually happened last time at the Spike videogame awards.)
Street Fighter is stiff competition, but even then, some ridiculous nonsense will be thought up like "this game has 3D graphics and new characters but it plays just like the other Street Fighter games? WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?" and everything will still be awarded to the game with the Mortal Kombat label. There are a lot of mkflegends out there. Anything else is positively un-American gawdammit.

... Aren't arcade releases usually eligible for these things?
I'd just about be willing to bet on an SFIV beta taking the title.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom is lurking for a Japanese release, too.
I'm sure MKvsDC'll win some American TV station awards, or something.
Soul Calibur? You're offending Texas!

okay sf4 fans calm down that game looks da same to me not impress by the game play at all, and it really don't matter when it comes out mk will still be on top,i would not even rent a garbage game like that, and if sf4 so good why are you blogging on mk web site and not that garbage ,over rated sf4 site, hands down mk is the best ever,u can probably beat the whole sf4 game in 30 second, why u think sf4 got push back and not released this year think about it.

Perhaps you are right but I honestly think SF4 looks like all the others with new graphics

it dose have a good chance i love mk more then street fighter but even i know if street fight4 came out this year it would have blown mk vs dc the fuck out of the water!
but the onlt fighting games that come 2 mine in 08 is smash bros and sc4 since tekken 6 got pushed back 2 09 as well so mk vs dc dose have an okay shot at wining since sc4 was the worst of the series IMO

I guess MK vs DC is going to be the best fighting game of the year for the following reasons:
1- The new universal DC characters implementation, which is a huge/difficult step to be achieved by other fighting games.
2- The most realistic characters between the fighting games, others are based on cartoons.
3- New/Creative fighting and content ideas.

1 - It's been done by MvC, so it's not gonna win MK a fighter of the year award.
2 - ....A flying Amazon Princess who can block bullets with the flick of a wrist fighting a a crazy soul stealing sorceror to save a universe where meta humans are everywhere, and another universes with many realms and mystical voodo crap going on everywhere. Much more realistic than two martial artists fighting in the streets. >_>
3 - Every good fighting game has this. It's not something that will make you the fighter of the year, it's a standard that you need to be considered fighter of the year.
Also, the game hasn't been released yet, why are we talking about awards? Besides, we all know SSBB is going to win every award, including fighter of the year, first person shooter, rpg of the year, racing game of the year, MMO of the year, Fucking awesome game of the year, year of the year, etc.

Only contenders i see that truly fit the category is Soul Calibur 4 and MK vs DC. MKvsDC judging from vids dont look like it is gonna match up to the quality of the likes of SC4 or DOA4 or VF5. so i believe Soul Calibur 4 probably will, and if not probably should because for this year... it is the best.
really i am a MK fanboy, but im not ignorant, naive, or just down right bias when it comes to comparing fighting games. if i dont know too much about a certain fighter then ill probably not talk about it much, but for the most part i play just about every big time fighting game. (i mean REAL fighting games. yeah i like FNR3, but that is a BOXING game, its different. and SSB is a party fighter.) .........
anyways MK vs DC has looked to possibly be the best MK ever gameplay wise, but when you compare the fighting engine and mechanics of SC4 and MKvsDC... from every thing we know of MKvsDC..... SC4 is the clear winner... and really ONLY real flaw in SC4 is too many small arena's which ppl will abuse Ring Outs to cheaply win. and i say cheaply cuz they wouldnt be able to win if it wasnt for that... (mainly those kind of players use a specific handful of chars so if ya spot that type of player at least there are 2 arena's with no RO. but still that is weak.) honestly though if you're playing against another honest player, the whole Ring Outs issue isnt as much of an issue, but still annoying that you gotta worry about it so much when fighting at the smaller arena's which there are a bit of in the game. overall though the game is pretty damn well balanced and the series continues on having the great fighting mechanics and engine it has always had.
MKvsDC now.... well Free Fall Kombat unless toned down or changed in some way, it looks like it could be a big flaw in the game and looks way overpowered. see how it works is that you can punch or kick while on the way down if on top and that makes a special meter go up. half way up you can finish the sequence with a special move, or continue smacking them to fill the meter more. more the meter is filled more damage is ultimately dealt at the bottom of the fall. first off takes off about 3/4ths health if meter is all the way up from a vid i seen. though where the real issue i think is is that the character on the bottom can do nothing till person on top meter is full, then counter them once and then just do nothing and land on them dealing out all the damage to them and not receiving any even after being hit like 6 times in mid air before the counter... Free Fall Kombat = flawed imo.
Klose Kombat im just not sure if i like the idea, but then again it maybe not bad? i dunno i think it is just some thing im not gonna be sure about till i try it.
anyways MKvs.DC still looks to be some what stiff like MKDA-MKA. its hard to judge, but let me just say if it is stiff like MKDA-MKA then that will be a big negative for sure.
um..... wake up game.... for player on ground looks like have just same wakeup game as MKA which i think looks stiff and actually just looks horrible imo. and i dont think it was that great really... but at least it looks like the player still standing will be able to deal more damage while opponent is still on ground which is some thing important... that lil thing not being able to hurt a downed opponent, but they can attack while getting up in Armageddon was horrible.
control scheme... the whole thing using one thing to duck and jump and another to side step... basically knowing this control scheme tells that the engine clearly does not have full 8-way control or let alone say 8-way run...
speaking of run... thats another thing come to think of it MISSING! there doesnt need to be a "Run Button", and really just being able to RUN can fasten the pace of the game for the better. has there been ANY evidence to characters being able to run in this game????
k some thing else... the grab system... well "Klose Kombat" they have described as kind of a interactive grab.... thats what it kinda is but more you actually doing striking moves just way more up close.... from what i understand characters will have a real grab or throw move as well.... but lets take a look at the grab mechanics of DOA4 and SC4... DOA4 has a rather kinda deep grab mechanic id say... some characters just got real basic type of grab moves, but then there are the characters with more advanced grab move that will have like 2-3 parts to doing the whole thing... but then there is the few characters that are more highly advanced just having like a lot more grab moves and also having like best counter moves that are like grab moves. (not sure if that best way to decribe what im trying to talk about, but yeah...)... kool thing though is that the defending player can escape throws like the throw combo's that have 2-3 parts by doing the same thing the offensive playing would have to input..... anyways with SC4 mostly characters just are able to grab a standing opponent no matter what way they facing, but they also got like ground grabs (grab opponent while they are down) and air grabs ect, but these are more character specific kind of grabs. (maybe say some thing like Jax with his air grab in the old games it just a special kind of grab i guess is a way to put it.)
ok to my point about this with MKvsDC.... i think MKvsDC the whole Klose Kombat thing could turn out to be sort of a good substitute for having some thing like DOA4's grab mechanics. i mean in the end they dont really look similar, but in the end they have the same function pretty much. what im talking about is the ability to counter out of the Klose Kombat... but here is where it is really different as well and may possibly be reason for me not using much or not liking that much... it is just a guessing game pretty much when trying to counter. and as for the regular throws... assuming they still have actual throws of their own.... only seen a couple, but they dont really look impressive... and really they just havent shown that their grab/throw mechanic is at least as diverse as the likes of SC4's basic throw/grab mechanics.
basically what i expect from the gameplay when this game is released... from what ive seen... it looks basically like playing a 2D fighter with 3D graphics, but with just 2D mechanics except being able to side step. though control scheme... seems lil weird...
seriously ppl i dont think this game is gonna do any thing better or as good as its comp. sadly i believe thats the truth. im still a loyal fan though... i feel like im part reason why MK is even around still... i mean ive supported no matter what, but wow.... every thing gets old after a while....

That's no post! Its a fucking book! Jk but seriously that has to be one of the longest posts I've seen on any forum.
But anyway, SC4 didn't really do anything to distinguish itself from its predecessors. I'm not sure about this, but I think critics are going to appreciate change in MK more than SC staying the same. However that's because the last 3 games figthing mechanics were no where near as solid as SC's.
Also, MK vs DC has the benefit of "returning to its roots" which seems like something critics have been liking lately.(BC:Rearmed, Mega Man 9) So as long as the core gameplay holds up alright, I think MK vs DCU has a good chance at achieving GOTY. Oh and by the way, I know that it will probably be inferior to other fighting games, I'll be picking it up just because it will probably be fun and its freakin MK. I really don't care if a few characters are slightly unbalanced(Speaking of which, what about YODA in SC 4?), but I don't want my games to be perfect, I just want to have fun while playing them.

how can you say mk is old when everything they are trying is new
for all I know, mk is the only game that's trying something new but back to basics with the fighting experience. sc? street fighter? come on now. imo, tekken is a overrated fighting game. that game is boring as hell. virtaul fighter is another tekken. they both suck balls. lol. mk vs dcu even has a better soundtrack than those other games. epic. imo, mk vs dcu will win.
